White Male Studies, The Next Step in Victimhood

The article we published last night needs to be explored further and the following posting does exactly that. What has happened to freedom of speech when a commentator (whose job is to write articles on education) is fired for suggesting the elimination of  Black Studies?  Oh, the horror of eliminating a course that should never have been instituted in the first place!  That goes for female studies, Hispanic studies, Asian studies, and any other claptrap program made do make some people feel superior, while really relegating them to the permanent unemployment lines. Ever heard of some business creating a position only for graduates of "female studies?"  We haven't.

These feel good  programs are a waste of the student's money (probably loaned to them by the government) and a dead end when it comes to finding a job in their line of study. There just are not jobs for these type of degrees. Does recycling past injustices (and don't get me wrong there have been plenty) make you prepared to go out into the world. We don't think so.  Additionally, these  programs do not focus on how to better help society avoid its past, in fact, it makes new victims.  In 50 years, will we have white male studies?  Have you ever looked at how white males are portrayed in popular media today?  They are always depicted as dumb, fumbling, lazy, sex addicted, anti-relationship, beer guzzling idiots who depend upon their wife, mother or girlfriend and children for everything they have. And it will only get worse.

We believe it is time to strike a blow for the white guy. He now gets less than 50% of the degrees in college and initially was hit the hardest by the recession (depression).  It will only get worse from here.  Us white guys need to rise up and demand studies be conducted and programs established to make things better for us.  We are the new discriminated class.

It all is hockey puck!  Programs, studies and the like do not make things better. It is the basics, "readin', writin' and 'rithmatic".  The rest is a waste of time which can be proven by the results of testing around the world. Each year, the United States falls further into the abyss and those in charge wring their hands and say, why?  The answer is simple. We are spending too much time on non-educational subjects. We need our students to be grounded in the things that make the world work and  not studies of maladjusted complainers.

Add on top of the absolute waste of money and time, is the political correctness that comes along with these programs.  If you complain, demand changes, or suggest the elimination of any of these sacred cows, you are the one that is skewered.  They cannot be touched even though they are as useless as your appendix.

Where did we get here?  Colleges changed from places of learning where excellence was demanded to businesses that  create a product that could attract many students (and their money).  We have been told that "everyone needs to go to college,"  that college grads earn much more than high school grads and who would want to be an electrician?  This demand required the colleges to build more dorms and to expand their offerings outside the normal college track.  Then in the late 60's we had the arising of the "self expression" crowd that said we needed to "find ourselves" which could be accomplished either through study or drugs.

All of this lead to finding out who had ruined someone's life.  The result is the "studies" programs that we find offensive and degrading. Studying history can help us understand what has occurred in the past and how we should not do the same things.  We can cover those groups that were negatively impacted by certain demographic or governmental actions but it must be in a global approach and by offended groups.

These "studies" programs must end and we will keep saying this until they are eliminated and more global approaches to studies are instituted.  Otherwise, education will be no better than a candy bar. It gives you a short high followed by a long goodby.

The Victims Who Run America

The Victims Who Run America

The Chronicle of Higher Education recently fired a woman named Naomi Schaefer Riley, a contributor to the publication’s blog Brainstorm, for doing what academics were once expected to do: think and analyze.
At one time, higher education, especially as it pertained to cultural studies, was synonymous with fierce ideological debate about what things were most influential in shaping human beings into the creatures they are today. No more. The age of oversensitivity and political correctness has sterilized thought even among thinkers.
The Chronicle of Higher Education, a publication that is both widely read and well respected within the academic community, recently fired a woman named Naomi Schaefer Riley, a contributor to the publication’s blog Brainstorm, for doing what academics were once expected to do: think and analyze. In an opinion piece — yes, this means the publication was paying Riley to offer her opinion in writing on various topics — the writer committed high treason in a society made stupid by oversensitivity taking a contrarian position among academics and writing about an issue involving race.
The writing that ended Riley’s tenure withThe Chronicle weighs in at just over 500 words and is entitled “The Most Persuasive Case for Eliminating Black Studies? Just Read the Dissertations.” The author opines in her piece that students pursing doctoral degrees in the field of black studies focus their dissertations too often on frivolous topics and tired blacks-are-always-the-victim arguments. She references a previous article published by The Chronicle that profiles the “young guns” of black studies; she describes the students’ work as “a collection of left-wing victimization claptrap.”
Riley writes:
That’s what I would say about Ruth Hayes’ dissertation, “‘So I Could Be Easeful’: Black Women’s Authoritative Knowledge on Childbirth.” It began because she “noticed that nonwhite women’s experiences were largely absent from natural-birth literature, which led me to look into historical black midwifery.” How could we overlook the nonwhite experience in “natural birth literature,” whatever the heck that is? It’s scandalous and clearly a sign that racism is alive and well in America, not to mention academia.
…But topping the list in terms of sheer political partisanship and liberal hackery is La TaSha B. Levy. According to the Chronicle, “Ms. Levy is interested in examining the long tradition of black Republicanism, especially the rightward ideological shift it took in the 1980s after the election of Ronald Reagan. Ms. Levy’s dissertation argues that conservatives like Thomas Sowell, Clarence Thomas, John McWhorter, and others have ‘played one of the most-significant roles in the assault on the civil-rights legacy that benefited them.’” The assault on civil rights? Because they don’t favor affirmative action they are assaulting civil rights? Because they believe there are some fundamental problems in black culture that cannot be blamed on white people they are assaulting civil rights?
Riley, a white academic writing an article for a publication about higher education, points out that many of the students majoring in black studies likely adhere to the popular narrative that nothing has changed racially in the United States in the past 50 years. She also points out that the students’ failure to focus on real issues perpetuates the left’s message that black people are the victim and white people are still their oppressors, despite major race-relations improvements in modern history. Riley should have known she was going to be fired.
Commenters on Riley’s blog, many of them academics (read perpetuators of the plague that is political correctness), attacked her for her insensitivity and for not first reading the students’ dissertations before offering her critique. An online petition with the names of 6,500 people who wanted her fired was also put together and sent to The Chronicle.
“…[S]ince this is a blog about academia and not journalism, I’ll forgive the commenters for not understanding that it is not my job to read entire dissertations before I write a 500-word piece about them,” Riley responded in her own defense. “I read some academic publications … but there are not enough hours in the day or money in the world to get me to read a dissertation on historical black midwifery. In fact, I’d venture to say that fewer than 20 people in the whole world will read it.”
Her response elicits two reactions from this author: 1) She is correct. An individual who is broadly interested in black studies likely would find many more intriguing bits of published material to devour before spending valuable time reading something with a title like “‘So I Could Be Easeful’: Black Women’s Authoritative Knowledge on Childbirth.” (But, of course, I am a white man, so that is probably just a display of the racist, women-hating tendencies that the left wants me to believe I have.) 2) Would Riley have been fired if she had written a similar piece criticizing equally poor efforts by doctoral students on a philosophy tract? Probably not.
Sadly, Riley was fired because her piece focuses critically on black studies. Her argument, though, could be applied to all aspects of the system of higher education, which is quickly seeing all of its institutions turn into profit-driven diploma mills unconcerned with knowledge. Her critique is about the absurdity of institutions of higher learning allowing doctoral students, particularly those studying liberal arts, to graduate with the belief that they are prepared to teach undergraduate students after obtaining credentials in only very specific areas.
She writes to those who disliked her original piece: “Such is the state of academic research these days. The disciplines multiply. The publication topics become more and more irrelevant and partisan. No one reads them. And the people whom we expect to offer undergraduates a broad liberal-arts education (in return for billions of dollars from parents and taxpayers) never get trained to do so. Instead the ivory tower pushes them further and further into obscurity.”
An editor at The Chronicle (which is evidently just as blinded by politically correct nonsense as the institutions it covers and, thus, is averse to harsh critique with even a mention of race)says of Riley’s post:
We now agree that Ms. Riley’s blog posting did not meet The Chronicle’s basic editorial standards for reporting and fairness in opinion articles. As a result, we have asked Ms. Riley to leave the Brainstorm blog.
Since Brainstorm was created five years ago, we have sought out bloggers representing a range of intellectual and political views, and we have allowed them broad freedom in topics and approach.  As part of that freedom, Brainstorm writers were able to post independently; Ms. Riley’s post was not reviewed until after it was posted.
I realize we have made mistakes. We will thoroughly review our editorial practices on Brainstorm and other blogs and strengthen our guidelines for bloggers.
The victims win again. And for that, undergraduate students at some university may soon have the option of attending a class on black midwifery or the philosophical importance of never, ever, under any circumstances, hurting anyone’s feelings. Perhaps that will lead us to a sort of victimless, utopian society. It is not likely though, because instances like Riley’s firing happen each and every day due to the efforts of the bleeding hearts and those who feel victimized by our society to silence anyone who says enough is enough. It’s alright, even desirable, to be the victim. Being the victim is a fast-track to the top whether one belongs there or not: Just ask the President.

Political Correctness And The Bigotry of Low Expectations

Every time we read about political correctness, it sends our anger quotient through the roof.  PC is a poison. It stifles discussion, it imposes a fake reality on the world and it creates outcomes which do not improve the world rather destroys it.

Whether it is trying not be be labeled racist (as in the accompanying article) or anti-female or anti-gay or anti-German (we can say that as it is our extraction), we harm the exchange of ideas and communication by excluding the more meaningful topics. Most people are so afraid of being not politically correct, that they will not say anything. All conversations become bland discussions of meaningless topics like who should win "Dancing with the Stars." Why can't we have conversations about those more vital topics of the day without being labeled as  _______________. (You fill in the blank.)

Even jokes are verboten. Any joke can be misinterpreted by someone who wants to be insulted especially if it is told by a person that is not a "protected" class.  Jokes about women are immediately anti-woman, jokes about nationalities (Poles, Irish) are anti those
people and don't even consider telling a joke about a Black, Asian or Hispanic! You will be banned for life.

We recently had a conversation about the Obama Administration's policies and immediately we were called racist even though we were not discussing race. Rather our exchange was on  taxes, debt, spending, Fast and Furious and other Administration follies. It is an easy argument killer to assert that someone who disagrees with the President is anti-black, when in actuality his race has nothing to do with the topic.

In the reporting on the Trayvon Martin murder, George Zimmerman was labeled a "white hispanic" by the press. Can someone tell me why they used that description?  Are they trying to be PC? You betcha!

George Orwell in his tome, "1984", warned us about this issue. We did not listen and many of those who impose PC on us would say that we have not gone far enough.  What has to occur before we regain sanity in this arena. Do we have to end all discussion except the latest weather forecast? Will comments on Black basketball players be banned because they are black? Will comments about women's driving or health issues be verboten? Will all references to "protected classes" be automatically called hate speech?

Should these events occur, discussion will surely end, a hunky-dory world will be created (not reflecting real issues) and important issues will be ignored because no one has the guts to talk about them.  That would be terrible for society and the country as a whole. Read the following article and tell me if teachers being politically correct is helping the minority students they are teaching. I believe you will say no.

Racist Teachers Making Minorities Dumb

May 9, 2012 by
Racist Teachers Making Minorities Dumb
PHOTOS.COM
Teachers may be harming minority students by holding back on criticisms.
Since the “political correctness” disease struck the United States in the 1990s Americans on the whole have become petrified of saying or doing anything that could be misconstrued as callous, or worse, racist.
Some would argue that the over-sensitization of the Nation is leading to decay of heritage and cultural pride along with intelligence as people are indoctrinated with the idea from their earliest education that every person is the same regardless of background. Of course, the people who would dare to make such an argument would be promptly flagged as callous or racist by groups like the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC).
A new report from Rutgers University in Newark, N.J., will likely be overlooked by hate watchers because it illustrates how the very way of thinking lauded by the oversensitive is dumbing down the populations they are so intent on helping to succeed.
A study currently published in the Journal of Educational Psychology shows, through a phenomenon dubbed “positive bias,” how affirmative action policies hold back minority youth and lead to their dependence on similar policies to succeed throughout life. Psychology professor Kent D. Harber indicates in the study that public school teachers under-challenge minority students by providing them more positive feedback than they give to white students even when they deserve equal merit.
Harber used 113 white middle school and high school teachers in two public school districts located in the New York/New Jersey/Connecticut tri-State area, one middle class and white, and the other more working class and racially mixed, to conduct his study. The researcher had the white teachers read poorly written essays that they believed were written by either white, black or Latino students and give feedback to be sent directly to the student.
All of the essays were actually developed by Harber, but he found that when the teachers believed him to be a black or Latino student he got more positive feedback than when they thought he was a white student despite the work being of equally poor quality. This racism to avoid being called a racist is holding back the minority students.
“The social implications of these results are important; many minority students might not be getting input from instructors that stimulates intellectual growth and fosters achievement. Some education scholars believe that minorities under-perform because they are insufficiently challenged—the ‘bigotry of lowered expectations,’ in popular parlance,” Harber explains. “The JEP study indicates one important way that this insufficient challenge might occur: in positively biased feedback.”
Harber believes the study’s findings have implications not only for educational systems in the U.S. but also for businesses, and in fact any organization where performance appraisals and feedback are crucial tools for training and development.
While the study shows that Americans would be better off without the fear created by oversensitive political correctness, the concept may be so rooted in the Nation’s society at this point that it is impossible to remove.
Russian media outlet RT poked fun at Americans’ oversensitivity to everything in the following broadcast from earlier this week:

Remember, you have freedom of speech and of thought in the United States as long as you avoid criticisms—even constructive—of any being that could be considered a minority or weaker than yourself, and any utterance that could be misconstrued by any person as offensive. Good luck.

Is A Mid East War In The Offing?

If you are a supporter of Israel, as we are, the attached posting will likely deprive you of many hours of sleep. David Meir-Levi writes a very straight forward analysis of the region and the forces at work.

Should David be right, we are looking at seeing a war shortly, probably sometime this summer or early fall which would be a similar time as the Yom Kippur attack in 1973.  The next five months will be vital for all parties to lower the tensions in the region.  Will Obama and other world leaders be up to the task?

From what we have seen, Obama will continue to dither, to try to placate the Arabs and demand unrealistic conditions on Israel but will not reach any agreements.  If there is a time for him to take action, it is now. However, he has more important duties, he has to run for President which we predict, will take his eye off the ball.  We expect nothing from him.

One only hopes that should war break out,  the President will not get in the way of an Arab defeat.  This time Israel should clean their clocks.  In the past, American Presidents have interceded into the fight and have demanded that Israel stop its troops and declare a truce.  Israel must not abide by that rule this time as it has not helped in the past.

One can only hope that it will not be a nuclear confrontation as that would be bad for all parties concerned. However, Iran might have a primitive bomb and who knows what other countries have been able to obtain on the black market from the old Soviet Union. If this war goes nuclear, this could be the beginning of the end.

Tell us what you think. We are interested in your opinions.

Winds of War?

David Meir-Levi - FrontPage Magazine,  May 8th, 2012

On Thursday, May 3, Israel mobilized six reserve battalions and received the government’s permission to mobilize 16 more, a security measure due to potential problems in the Sinai desert and the volatile situation in Syria, or so we are told.  But the mobilization of 22 battalions means that there is more to this situation than meets the eye.
Eight months ago the present writer discussed the probability of a nine-front war.  Despite the low-key tone of “a security measure,” Israel now seems to be close to that situation.
Almost-nuclear Iran; Hezbollah; the Sinai, with its entrenched al-Qaeda bases and other terror groups; Egypt, if the Muslim Brotherhood (MB) has its way; Syria; and the two internal fronts of Hamas and the PA if they can get their acts together, comprise seven of the nine fronts.
Let’s look first at Iran.
Iran is in deep trouble economically, as its oil production is the lowest in 20 years and its mullocracy is losing popularity with its rank and file.  The nuclear option for which it has been in hot pursuit for 10 years has now turned into a political liability with voters as sanctions slowly impair the economy. The decline is “the result of the country’s growing isolation due to its nuclear program,” so the mullahs are scared because the time may be ripe for another round of internal unrest and open demonstrations for regime change.
The mullahs’ popularity has not been enhanced by Israel’s ten years of successful covert operations against Iran’s WMDs; and Israel’s newly purchased nuclear submarine, with nuclear-armed cruise missiles giving Israel expanded “second-strike” capabilities in case of an Iranian nuclear attack, will soon be added to its Persian Gulf fleet, and offer Iranian leaders the opportunity to reconsider their disdainful attitude toward MAD.
The mullahs desperately need a distraction for their unhappy voters.
Hezbollah is better armed now than it was before the 2nd Lebanon War, and has successfully cowed the UN “peace keepers.”  But it has suffered a loss of popularity due to its support for Assad and growing isolation.  That can be remedied most easily by opening a northern front with renewed missile and other terror attacks against Israel. Such an action would justify more Iranian efforts to achieve nuclear capacity.
And as is the case with Hezbollah, if Iran gave Syria the order, it would be a boon and a blessing for Syria to join in.  Assad could turn attention from the slaughter of its innocents and call for Syrian unity in the great jihad against Israel.
Egypt and the Sinai are a bit more complicated.
The Sinai is a haven for drug smuggling, human trafficking, gun running, and terrorist groups including al-Qaeda; but the Egyptian armed forces have not been able to clean up the mess.  Operation Eagle, almost a year old, is a total failure, for which, true to form, the Egyptian government blames Israel.
And compounding this problem is the uncertainty about Egyptian politics.  MB leaders have made clear that they want to renew the state of war with Israel. Currently the Egyptian army is still in control, but with a significant Islamofascist majority in the Egyptian Parliament and an MB candidate the front runner for presidential elections, Egypt could turn into an active military enemy overnight.
The other two fronts are internal.
Hamas is the loser in the Arab Spring: losing popularity, losing Iranian and Syrian support due to its backing of the MB’s revolt in Syria, facing competition from other more aggressive terror groups, and facing the impatience of its own rank and file due to its not killing enough Jews.  Polls taken earlier this year found “a significant decline in the popularity of Hamas in the Gaza Strip and a decrease in the positive evaluation of the Hamas government in the Gaza Strip.”
Hamas may also be losing some control over its terror cohorts who have continued rocket attacks on Israel despite Hamas-mandated cease-fires. When Hamas has exercised its authority, the results have backfired.  When Hamas forces wiped out one al-Qaeda unit supported by Iran, for instance, a serious crisis developed with Tehran.
But the most serious challenge comes from its former ally in terror, Harakat al-Jihad al-Islami fi Filastin, the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ.)  PIJ until recently was subordinated to Hamas; but the insurgency in Syria has changed things.
The leading force behind the anti-Assad demonstrations is the MB. But Bashar al-Assad and his nepotistic Alawite network in Syria are all proxies of Iran. Iran wants Hamas to support Assad and to oppose the MB in Syria. Hamas has refused. In response, Tehran has cut back on its funding for Hamas.  And probably not coincidentally, the PIJ, newest recipient of Iranian funds and weapons not previously seen in the Gaza Strip, has begun to chaff at Hamas’ rule and its terrorists have launched attacks on their own in defiance of Hamas orders. With Hamas out of favor with Iran, PIJ terrorists can show off their new clout and independence by targeting Israel with their new mobile self-propelled rocket launchers smuggled in from Libya.
Hamas’ weakened position may be the reason that it is willing to reconcile with Abbas.  And this brings us to the last front, the West Bank.
Arabs in the West Bank are getting impatient with postponed elections and the inability of Hamas and the PA to form a united political front.  Palestinian frustration towards a leadership seen as inept, out of touch and repressive is rising to dangerous levels, and some outside observers suggest that a revolt may be brewing, and not at the ballot box.
Fatah-Hamas reconciliation, polls showed, was the single most important issue for most Palestinians, outstripping even peace talks with Israel. But neither Hamas nor Fatah can agree on how to share power in an interim government or how to merge their respective security forces. Moreover, Abbas has ruled illegally for three years.  His term officially expired in January 2009.  This was the case with Arafat, who ruled unconstitutionally from 2000 when his term as president expired, until his death from AIDS in 2004.
Fearful of the precedent set by the Arab Spring, Abbas has responded to public frustration by becoming increasingly authoritarian. In the past six weeks, according to the Palestinian human rights network Al Haq, nine bloggers and journalists have been jailed. Faced with a government whose legitimacy is being steadily eroded, Palestinians are quite possibly closer to erupting against their own leadership than ever before.
But the clearest sign that things are seriously deteriorating in the PA is that suddenly after 6 post-intifada years of cooperation, the PA police force decides not to work with the IDF any more in preventing terrorism and arresting known terrorists in the West Bank. Moreover, Abbas has resurrected Arafat’s old Palestinian revolving door policy for jailed terrorists. This action is a green light for terrorists in the West Bank to resume terrorism.
When we combine this turn of events with Abbas’ threat to dissolve the PA, we can suggest that the meeting with Mesha’al and Abbas last year and on May 2, 2012, may have been planning sessions for a unified political action against Israel.  It looks like Abbas and Mesha’al are developing a special relationship very similar to the one that existed in the early 2000s between Arafat and the Hamas founder, Sheikh Ahmed Yassin.  They were bitter ideological opponents, but in agreement about terrorism against Israel.
Hamas is ripe for such an arrangement since, as noted above, its position has been weakened; and a good solution would be to get together with Abbas and recreate the good-cop/bad-cop act that Arafat and Yassin perfected in the early days of the 2nd intifada, in order to side-track the growing opposition among West Bank and Gaza Strip voters who see them both as corrupt and ineffective in their war against Israel.
So each country or terrorist organization comprising the seven fronts needs desperately and quickly to burnish its anti-Israel credentials for internal political purposes. How to do this? Use the one tried-and-true sure-fire solution that has worked for 64 years – attack Israel.
Will Israeli Arabs whose sympathies lie with Hamas or Fatah or Hezbollah sit idly by, with folded hands, as their brethren begin on seven fronts at once what they hope will be the last great final jihad?  That’s a rhetorical question.
So Israel has raised the level of terror alerts in the West Bank, mobilized its reserve battalions, and expanded its nuclear submarine fleet; because we all may be looking into the barrel of the next great Middle East war, which may, God forbid, turn out to be a nuclear war, thanks in part to the dithering of America’s President.

Texas Girl Nails Government Benefits

Many of you might have seen this article from Waco last year, however, it is worth re-posting it.  We believe there are many Conservatives who feel the same way as this young woman. It would be tough medicine, but it would re-invigor American society and get a bunch of people who want to live on "Obama's stash."

  PUT  ME IN CHARGE
. . .

Put  me in charge of food stamps. I'd get rid of Lone Star cards; no cash
for Ding Dongs or Ho Ho's,  just money for 50-pound bags of rice and  beans,
blocks of cheese and all the powdered  milk you can haul away. If you want
steak and  frozen pizza, then get a job.

Put me in  charge of Medicaid. The first thing I'd do is to get women
Norplant birth control implants or  tubal legations. Then, we'll test
recipients  for drugs, alcohol, and nicotine. If you want to  reproduce or use
drugs, alcohol, or smoke, then  get a job.

Put me in charge of government  housing.  Ever live in a military  barracks?
You will maintain our property in  a clean and good state of repair.
Your home"  will be subject to inspections anytime and  possessions will be
inventoried.  If you  want a plasma TV or Xbox 360, then get a job and  your
own place.

In addition, you will  either present a check stub from a job each week
or you will report to a "government"  job.  It may be cleaning the roadways
of  trash, painting and repairing public housing,  whatever we find for you.  We
will sell  your 22 inch rims and low profile tires and your  blasting stereo
and speakers and put that money  toward the "common good.."

Before you write  that I've violated someone's rights, realize that  all  of
the above is voluntary.  If  you want our money, accept our rules.  Before  you
say that this would be "demeaning" and ruin  their "self esteem," consider
that it wasn't  that long ago that taking someone else's money for  doing
absolutely nothing was demeaning and  lowered self esteem.

If we are expected to  pay for other people's mistakes we should at
least attempt to make them learn from their  bad choices.  The current system
rewards  them for continuing to make bad  choices.

AND While you are on Gov't  subsistence, you no longer can VOTE!  Yes,
that is correct.  For you to vote would  be a conflict of interest.  You  will
voluntarily remove yourself from voting  while you are receiving a Gov't
welfare  check.  If you want to vote, then get a  job.

Ask Chinese Dissident How Good A Friend America Is

The manner in which the United States has handled the case of Chen Guangcheng, the blind human rights activist that defected to the US Embassy in Beijing after escaping from  his apartment guarded by Chinese guards, is deplorable.  In his escape he broke his foot while jumping over a fence.  The Americans took him to a hospital, however, after promising to protect him, they abandoned him to the Chinese authorities.

In the past couple days, after who knows what we gave China, they relented and it looks like Chen will be able to come to the US to finish his legal education.  However, for a while it looked like he would never see freedom again.

When the US does not support humans rights protesters whether it is in China or earlier in Iran, we show that we are not friends of those who are trying to make things better in their country.  In neither case did the US stand with those who have no or limited voice. That is shameful especially for a country where that has not been the case.  If the US will not stand for those who desire to bring decency, civility and democracy to their country, who will?  Shame on the Obama Administration for not making the Chen case a "cause celebrity."  How many other cases are there where we have let freedom loving people be killed by their leaders?

The elephant in the room is what we gave China in response to their "promise" to let Chen and his family leave the country and emigrate to the US. We have not heard any details, in fact, a quick Google search turns up no news in the past three days.  We suspect the payoff was pretty big as the Communists do not respond to pressure but money or influence makes a big difference. What do you think we paid?

We are sending a copy of this post to our Representative and Senators.  Things must change in policy and our delegates in Congress must lead that effort. We ask you to contact you representatives and demand action.

Chinese Rights Activist: 'Hillary Clinton, This Is the Time to Deliver'

fu
The Rev. Bob Fu, founder and president of ChinaAid, testified before the Congressional Executive Commission on China on May 3, 2012, about the fate of Chinese pro-life activist Chen Guangcheng. (CNSNews.com/Penny Starr)
(CNSNews.com) -- The Rev. “Bob” Xiqiu Fu, founder and president of the human rights group ChinaAid and a personal friend of Chen Guangcheng, the blind human rights activist, called on Thursday for Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to help Chen.
"Hillary Clinton, this is the time to deliver," Fu told a hearing of the Congressional Executive Commission on China on Thursday.
Rep. Chris Smith (R-N.J.), chairman of the commission, held the hearing to assess Chen's situation and what role the United States should play in securing his future.
Chen is now seeking to get out of China after leaving the safe haven of the U.S. Embassy in Beijing. Until he surfaced at the embassy late last month, he had been under house arrest for his activities on behalf of women forced to undergo abortions and sterilization to comply with China's one-child policy.
Fu, who spoke to Chen by telephone on Wednesday, said Chen believes he is "in danger" and also feared for his wife and two children.
Fu said that attempts to reach Chen by telephone so he could speak with Smith before the hearing had failed. But, as Smith said, Chen "surprised the world" by calling the hearing while it was in progress.
Speaking through a translator from his hospital room, Chen said he was "really afraid" for his family. “I want to meet with Secretary Clinton, I hope I can get more help from her. I also want to thank her face-to-face."  Chen told the hearing that he wants to have his freedom of travel guaranteed -- and he wants to come to the United States.
Chen also told the hearing that his home is surrounded by video cameras and an electric fence. And now that he's been reunited with his wife and son,  he said his main concern is the safety of his mother and brother.
Smith told Chen his case is a "test" of China's commitment to protect him -- and "also the test of the United States as to whether or not human rights really do matter."
"You and your family and your supporters need to be on a plane coming to the United States for -- as you put it -- that rest that you so richly deserve,” Smith said.

In his opening remarks, Smith said "Chen's comments portray the U.S. manipulating him, cutting him off from outside communication and encouraging him to leave the embassy rather than seek asylum." Smith, pointing to news reports, said Chen indicated "he was denied his request to call friends. He said he felt the embassy official had lied to him."
Rep. Frank Wolf (R-Va.) called on the Obama administration to grant Chen and his family asylum in the United States.
