When you emasculate the military, you allow your enemies to take advantage of your weakness. As China keeps building subs and their military, we must update our military equipment.
ReplyDeleteI did the NY Times survey and ended up with the necessary cuts of which 77% came from spending and 23% from income increases. It can be done, maybe I should be a Representative!

This is $347 billion that Ron Paul would chop on day 1. We absolutely don't need more subs and we can't afford o keep up this senseless military budget. How much did you cut out of defense in your 77%?

ReplyDeleteWe might be superior to China today in military hardware, but they have recently sea-trialed a new carrier. How many are on the board?
The one thing that is forgotten with China is that they have billions of people. In the Korean conflict, they would throw hundreds of soldiers against a position and finally overrun it by just sheer manpower. Would they use that strategy if they tried to take over Japan or Formosa?
We must maintain our technology as we do not have the manpower to counteract China.
Ron Paul would cut the military which is another reason we cannot support him. Yes, there are areas which need attention, but to cut major areas like the subs is not the type of leadership that we need as President. When combined with his foreign affairs statements, it confirms my statement that he has lost our support.
ReplyDeleteChina has one aircraft carrier. We have 11. As I said, there is no area, including submarines, carriers, airplanes, where the U.S. is not OVERWHELMINGLY superior to China. In a conventional war with the U.S., China would be obliterated. That is one reason why they would be crazy to get into a war with us. The other reason is economics. They hold $800 billion of U.S. debt, and we are their largest trading partner (In 2011, we imported $330 billion from them and exported $84 billion).

No. How are they going to get there? Their boats would be easy targets for our missiles and warplanes/submarines, and their army would be easy target practice for us if they ever reach shore.
Unfortunately for Ron Paul, most Republican voters share your views. And, despite my best efforts, I can't seem to get you to look statistically at the comparative military power of China vs. U.S. to see that we are VASTLY superior to them. Furthermore, their military budget as percentage of GDP is vastly LESS than ours. Given our big lead on them already, why wouldn't you be satisfied if we just match them dollar-for-yuan in military spending in the future? That alone would help a lot on the deficit, because we could use the money saved on unneeded submarines, etc. for job creation. Vote Ron Paul.

The one issue that dramatically differs between China and the US is that the US has world wide responsibilities that China does not have. What missions are Chinese Troops on for the UN? Where are Chinese troops stationed out of China?
ReplyDeleteBefore you jump on me and say that Ron Paul would eliminate our troops out of the US, it will not happen! Our role as leader of the free world requires us to support our allies.
So if China invaded Formosa or Japan, what would/should/could we do? Let them do it?
