Sometimes even a blind squirrel finds a nut and so is it with Louis Farrakhan. No he did not find a nut, his interest in improving lives of the black members of our society is admirable and should be encouraged. For example, black on black crime is something that the media does not talk about, yet, most blacks deaths are at the hands of other members of the same race.
However, some of Farrakhan's ideas are wrong such as his extreme antisemitism. So what is your opinion of him?

Farrakhan Says White Americans Using Birth Control To Outnumber Blacks

At times, Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan can sound like something of a social engineer.
Last month, he encouraged gang members to learn military tactics and then go serve as resident security guards for rural property the Nation of Islam is buying in Georgia.
In a Michigan speech over the weekend, hecriticized white Americans for manipulating society in the hope of continuing as the Nation’s majority racial demographic.
How? Birth control for black women. Apparently, black women knew nothing of birth control until whites decided it was time to introduce it to them, “because they don’t want no more black babies.” By his calculation, blacks will outnumber whites in the United States by 2050, in part because the Nation of Islam plans to revolutionize the role blacks play in American society.
Farrakhan said black people face a defeatist culture in American public schools and universities, one that conditions them only to remain malleable and expendable to what he characterized as the white-controlled status quo.
“Do you think they are really educating and training you to do something with yourself, or are they training you to be subservient?” he admonished.
Like any good ideologue, not all of Farrakhan’s remarks were inflammatory, nor aimed at easy targets. He continued his ongoing general criticism of black Americans for making what he said are bad choices with their diets, relationships and spending habits.
He followed up those exhortations with tweets Sunday urging black people to consider farming their own land as a starting point for economic self-sufficiency.

You need a man like Senator Hagel as your secretary of defense because a man with a mind like that will keep you out of fighting somebody else’s wars. You need a man in government that has another opinion that is not controlled, and if the Senate does not confirm him as defense secretary because of his opinion on Israel, that only proves that the Senate in the U.S. Congress is controlled by the Israeli lobby. And it also sentences America to war with Iran for the state of Israel.”

This blind squirrel may have found another nut here if the Senate passes the bill establishing Israel as a "major strategic ally," which Israel could use to legally draw the U.S. into a war with Iran. I worry about that. You probably like the idea. Right?

Why would you say that I like the idea of America's troops being drawn into a war?
ReplyDeleteBecause you believe Obama would not support Israel even if Iran initiated the war. This would legally oblige the U.S. to enter the war, even if Israel starts it. Obama would have no choice because the legal status "major strategic ally" means the U.S. legally MUST enter any war that involves a major strategic ally. I assumed that, if Israel starts the war by bombing Iran's nuclear facilities, you want the U.S. to join it. Not true?
ReplyDeleteI worry about this scenario because it is so similar to the Iraq War over nonexistent nuclear weapons. This Senate bill would pre-authorize the war, so to speak. If I were as disposed as much toward conspiracy theory as you, I might even speculate that the plan is already in place. It gives Israel a rock-solid "green light" guarantee to start the war anytime after the law is passed.

I think we have a greater chance of going to war with North Korea than Iraq. Neither are stable countries and their leadership would not think twice by starting a war. It would be a good population control measure. N. Korea can't feed its own people and are seriously jealous of the South.
ReplyDeleteRegarding North Korea, we have treaties like SEATO that call for mutual defense. We additionally have agreements with S. Korea to defend them in the event of an invasion or attack by the North. These agreements are already in place. The UN has tightened its restrictions on the North however, we feel that will have little effect.
Regarding Iran and its nuclear ambitions, the world agrees (and I concur) that this country should NOT get these weapons. Netanyahu has told the UN where his "line" is that he will not allow Iraq to cross. I support that assumption. Whether it will drag the rest of the world into a war is questionable, however, Ira has acknowledged that it has nuclear ambitions, it has the facilities (we have seen Aba Ding Dong touring them from Iranian state press and the mullahs and Aba Ding Dong has threatened the extinction of Israel. Netanyahu has the responsibility to defend his country and when someone threatens you, you take them seriously.
I do not think there is any "green light" from the US in relation to Israel. In fact, it is probably a yellow, at best. Obama would NEVER give Israel a green light to move ahead with bombing Iran. If they go ahead, Obama will slap all sorts of penalties on the money and military hardware promised to them.
You didn't answer the question. If this law is passed, it takes the decision out of Obama's hands, because we would be legally obligated to join the war in defense of our "major national ally," even if Israel starts the war.
