Fairy Tales At 1600 Pennsylvania

If we were President, we would fire everyone who had knowledge of the IRS audit and did not tell me. Do they really think that Obama was not told? Is Obama so isolated that he did not want to be told about a potential scandal?  This fairy tale told by Jay Carney (Pinocchio on steroids) is absolute fodder for the "very low" information citizens.  Anyone with two brain cells can figure this out to be stupid.

White House chief of staff Denis McDonough and other senior presidential advisers knew in late April that an upcoming report was likely to find that IRS employees had inappropriately targeted conservative political groups.
That disclosure on Monday expanded the known circle of top officials who were aware of the audit beyond those identified earlier by the White House.
The White House says McDonough and the other advisers did not tell President Barack Obama about the impending report, leaving him to learn the results from news reports later.
The White House defended the decision to keep the president in the dark, with press secretary Jay Carney saying Obama was comfortable with the fact that "some matters are not appropriate to convey to him, and this is one of them."

Interesting. Why would you want to know? Nixon would want to know. He would want to have the foreknowledge so that he could interfere with the Inspector General's report before the finding were made public. A "hands off" president would let the investigation run its course, and when it is done, read it, and act accordingly. In this case, the immediate response was to fire the acting commissioner and appoint Werfel to fix the problem and fire those accountable. It would have been premature to do this before the IG report were final.

I think the real scandal will be if Werfel doesn't fire these two women -- Lerner and Ingram who were directly responsible for managing the IRS workers who were targeting the conservative groups.

  2. One thing that you need to do is to go back and read Watergate again. Nixon was NOT involved in the break-in, it was the cover-up in which he became involved. Nixon also had the guys fired who did the break-in.

The same with Obama, as the future will tell. The plan is to give out little pieces of information until the "media-monster" is satisfied. The IG report was the first effort to neuter the situation. It did not work. Now they will fire the underlings in Cleveland. That will not satisfy the monster, as these audits/approvals were done in California and Washington also to name a couple states. It will continue to grow until Obama is either neutered or resigns.

  3. You are correct on the Watergate cover-up, but not on the IRS. Nixon specifically ordered illegal actions by the IRS.
