Nanny Mayor’s Parting Shot: Forced Medication Of Children

The New York City Board of Health is set to vote today on new rules pushed by Mayor Michael Bloomberg that would force children as young as 6 months old to be immunized annually against influenza if they attend a licensed day care or preschool program.

Citing bogus statistics, the Board — packed with mayoral appointees — produced a notice claiming influenza results in 20,000 hospitalizations and 30 to 150 deaths in children under 5 nationwide each year. There is little or no option to opt out. The vaccination would be required “unless the vaccine may be detrimental to the child’s health, as certified by a physician licensed to practice medicine in this state, or the parent, parents, or guardian of a child hold genuine and sincere religious beliefs which are contrary to the practices herein required.” But history shows jumping through the hoops necessary for exemptions are always daunting.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, “from the 1976-1977 season to the 2006-2007 flu season, flu-associated deaths ranged from a low of about 3,000 to a high of about 49,000 people.” As the CDC believes that 3,000 to 49,000 annual deaths in a country with more than 313 million people is a travesty, it recommends everyone above age 6 should get the flu vaccine each year. It claims that the vaccine prevents flu 50 percent to 70 percent of the time. Now Bloomberg’s Board of “Health” is getting in on the act.

The truth is flu vaccines are ineffective 99 percent of the time, as I told you here and here. Researchers also found that:

• The vaccine had no effect on hospital admissions or complication rates.
• Vaccine use did not affect the number of people hospitalized or working days lost.
• Reliable evidence on vaccine efficacy is thin, but there is evidence of widespread manipulation of conclusions. (In fact, The Cochrane Library’s report is based mostly on pharmaceutical company-sponsored research that, when analyzed, still showed the vaccines didn’t work as claimed.)
• Vaccines do not affect the transmission of disease, even though their stated purpose is to reduce transmission of disease.
• In average conditions (which means a partially matching vaccine) and because the World Health Organization has to guess which strain of flu will be most prevalent in the coming year, 100 people must be vaccinated to prevent one set of flu symptoms.

The truth is the CDC and Big Pharma are very clever, though not very honest. Notice the use of the words “flu-associated deaths.” That’s because the CDC adds pneumonia deaths as if the flu is the sole cause of pneumonia. But as Peter Doshi, Ph.D., revealed in a 2005 report published in the British Medical Journal, actual annual flu deaths are measured in the dozens, not the thousands. From his report:

“[I]nfluenza and pneumonia” took 62,034 lives in 2001–61,777 of which were attributable to pneumonia and 257 to flu, and in only 18 cases was the flu virus positively identified.

In other words, the influenza virus was actually present in only 18 of 62,034 deaths attributed to both influenza and pneumonia.

Now, Doshi has new published research in the BMJ in which he has found that in the hundreds of thousands of respiratory samples taken each year from flu patients in the United States and tested in labs, only 16 percent test positive for the influenza virus. It turns out that most flu cases are actually caused by bacteria or fungus or any of a number of other things except the influenza virus being blamed.

Doshi writes:

But perhaps the cleverest aspect of the influenza marketing strategy surrounds the claim that “flu” and “influenza” are the same. The distinction seems subtle, and purely semantic. But general lack of awareness of the difference might be the primary reason few people realize that even the ideal influenza vaccine, matched perfectly to circulating strains of wild influenza and capable of stopping all influenza viruses, can only deal with a small part of the “flu” problem because most “flu” appears to have nothing to do with influenza. Every year, hundreds of thousands of respiratory specimens are tested across the US. Of those tested, on average 16% are found to be influenza positive.

According to a study published in Human and Experimental Toxicology, the more vaccinated a baby is the more likely he is to die or suffer serious reaction.

And few know that the CDC — as well as doctors and pharmacies, which get kickbacks on the vaccines and drugs they administer — also fails to divulge what harmful additives are found in vaccines and the side effects that can result.

Nanny Bloomberg claims to have the well-being of children at heart with this proposal. But if Bloomberg cared about children, he would focus his attention on the millions of babies being slaughtered in abortion mills rather than concentrating his efforts on forced medication and gun grabs.
