On Wednesday, April 23, Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal signed into law House Bill 60, also known as the Safe Carry Protection Act.
This new law allows licensed gun owners to carry their firearms just about anywhere in Georgia, including churches, schools, bars, nightclubs, and government buildings.
The Safe Carry Protection Act became law in spite of heavy opposition from anti-gun groups, including Americans for Responsible Solutions, a gun control organization started by former Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.).
guns everywhere
Georgia’s new Safe Carry Protection Act allows licensed gun owners to carry firearms in public places. This is why people call it the “guns everywhere” law.
It is a major win for 2nd Amendment supporters who believe similar pro-gun laws should be passed in all 50 states.
“People who follow the rules can protect themselves and their families from people who don’t follow the rules,” Deal said, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “The Second Amendment should never be an afterthought. It should reside at the forefronts of our minds.”
Perhaps other states will take a page from Georgia and pass similar laws to preserve 2nd Amendment rights.
