Answering a question about the number of paid Obamacare premiums Thursday, White House Press Secretary Jay Carney told reporters that the Obama Administration doesn’t know how many people have paid, and are therefore signed up, for Obamacare. But, the spokesman added, any numbers that make the White House look bad are wrong.
The question stemmed from a House Energy Committee report which stated, “as of April 15, 2014, only 67 percent of individuals and families that had selected a health plan in the federally facilitated marketplace had paid their first month’s premium and therefore completed the enrollment process.”
Furthermore, only one quarter of the paid enrollees fall in the 18 to 34 age bracket necessary to keep Obamacare afloat.
Reporter Chuck Todd asked how the findings stacked up against the White House’s figures.
“We dispute their numbers. We don’t have hard, concrete numbers, but we dispute them,” Carney said.
The press secretary added that the data the White House disputes comes from “profit-making” companies, so it is invalid.
