Israel Hospital Treats Abbas' Wife And Hamas Leader's Family. One Would Think That Would Soften Their Hearts. Probably Will Not.

Despite Tensions, PA President’s Wife Receives Israeli Medical Care

“To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven…A time to kill, and a time to heal…a time for war, and a time for peace.” (Ecclesiastes 3:1-8)

At a time when Israeli strength is being tested as its people suffer the agony of three missing youths at the hands of Palestinian kidnappers, the wife of Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas was reportedly treated in an Israeli hospital.
Three Israeli teenagers, Naftali Frenkel and Gil-Ad Shayer, both 16, and Eyal Yifrah, 19, were kidnapped late Thursday night by Palestinian terrorists. The search for their whereabouts continues in massive sweeps across the Palestinian-controlled areas of Judea and Samaria, and mass prayer rallies are being held for them across the country and around the world.
Meanwhile, the same day, Amina Abbas was admitted to the Assuta Medical Center in Tel Aviv’s Ramat Hachayal neighborhood.  She underwent surgery on her leg on Friday in the Neurosurgery and Orthopedic Ward of the hospital, which is the country’s newest facility, all while Netanyahu publicly held her husband responsible for the safety of the missing boys.
She was given a private room and guards were stationed at her door at all times.  Her identity was hidden from her fellow patients and people questioning who the VIP was were given vague and evasive answers.
When questioned about the report, the hospital told Haaretz news source: “Out of concern for the privacy of its patients, Assuta does not disclose the identities of inpatients or those coming in for treatment, thus we cannot confirm or deny any information regarding the [female] patient.”
Since the Palestinian medical system is less developed than its Israeli neighbor’s, Palestinians are occasionally brought to Israel for treatment.  In February, Haifa’s Rambam Medical Center saved the unborn children of two pregnant Gaza women within weeks of each other.  Last summer, a Jewish toddler’s kidney saved the life of a Palestinian boy.  The IDF medical staff often treats Palestinians on location as well, including a recent incident in which a one-month-old baby was saved from choking.
This is not the first time the relative of a Palestinian leader has been treated by Israeli doctors, either.  Several of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh’s relatives have received Israeli medical attention.  His brother-in-law was reportedly treated in Petah Tikvah about two years ago, and in November, his granddaughter received care in the same city.  Unfortunately, the girl later succumbed to her illness in Gaza.  Last month, Haniyeh’s mother-in-law also arrived in Israel for cancer treatments in Jerusalem.
