With al-Qaida and ISIS competing for supremacy as the world's top terrorist organization, the United States is now in greater danger than it was before 9/11, says Rep. Mike Rogers, chairman of the House Intelligence Committee.

Before 9/11 there were "single-level threats," Rogers said Sunday on "Face the Nation."Now, there are multiple organizations.

"If either one of those organizations is successful, we lose," Rogers said.

ISIS was once an al-Qaida affiliate, but broke away after even al-Qaida condemned its tactics as overly brutal. The group has demanded non-Muslims convert, leave or pay a tax. Those who refuse have been beheaded or crucified, and women have been taken as slaves.

Rogers said Kurdish Peshmerga forces are being resupplied and are regaining ground lost to ISIS forces. After a "strategic withdrawal," they are now "armed up a little bit" and have air support from the American and Iraqi air forces.
