Freedom Of Speech Is Important. In Case Of Protesters, It Also Is Illuminating!

WATCH: Muslims March in Defense of Terrorism… in Orlando, Florida [VIDEO]

Freedom of speech is enshrined in the Bill of Rights for an important reason–because citizens must be free to speech their consciences in order to engage in robust political debate, inform the electorate, and prevent tyranny.
That doesn’t mean, however, that free speech is always used with the best of intent–or results.
Sometimes, liberal attempts at free speech end up being amusing, such as when they unwittingly put their ignorance on display for the world to see. At other times, they can be more revealing, such as when the whole of two or more juxtaposed messages seem to communicate more than just the sum of their parts.
Once in a while, however, they can be downright frightening.
Now, a video recently posted on Allen West’s website demonstrates an example of liberal free speech that is all three–amusing, revealing, and frightening.
The video is somewhat amusing, as an older gentleman attending the demonstrations fends off attempts to keep him “on script” in front of the cameras at a recent demonstration of Muslims in Orlando, Florida.
Unfortunately, his support of the “freedom fighters” of Palestine shows the ignorance of the interviewee who is clearly anti-Semitic, as is his niece, who is also in attendance. This is combined with the attempt of protest organizers to hide the reality of their beliefs by trying to keep the interview subject from speaking on camera at all.
The video turns frightening when the man encourages the display of the flag of Hezbollah, which includes an image of an automatic rifle, and with the realization that the gathered protestors actually support a group that has been officially designated a Foreign Terrorist Organization by the U.S. State Department–in other words, an enemy of the United States.
As Allen West comments, “I’m all for free speech but when the flags of a designated terrorist group are flying in my country, in the state I call home — we have a problem. Political correctness will be the death of America, and indeed western civilization.”
Imagine, if you can, roadside protests in support of Kaiser Wilhelm in 1917 or Imperial Japan in 1944. These demonstrations make every bit as much sense.
The American right to free speech must never be impinged, and we support the right of Muslims to speak their consciences. However, patriotic Americans who understand the evil nature of radical Islam must–must–do the same.
