President Barack Obama was rejected by several New York golf courses over Labor Day weekend, according to NBC News.

A number of sources told the network that top golf courses in the Westchester area turned down requests by the president's team for Obama to tee off on Saturday, Aug. 30. The clubs include Trump National Golf Club, the Winged Foot, and Willow Ridge.

Club managers, who were approached just a day or two before the requested visit, allegedly did not want to inconvenience their members by shutting down the club to accommodate the president.

The White House ultimately canceled a planned overnight stay in New York for the Friday evening, with the president returning to Washington after a day of fundraising events.

"He can sleep in his own bed, do a little work tomorrow, spend some time with his family, and then travel back to New York tomorrow evening to attend a private event," White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest said, explaining the schedule change.

Political analyst Dan Gerstein told NBC News that there was a time when the president would never have been turned away from venues.

"I think he has lost that star quality he had in the first two years in office and in that 2008 campaign," he said.

But some club officials said Obama was not the only head of state to be turned away that weekend. Sources told NBC News that the King of Morocco also unsuccessfully tried to secure a tee time at several of the same courses
