A Thug Is A Thug Is A Thug Regardless Of The Backtracking And Story Changing By The Baltimore Mayor. Thugs Should Be Treated Like Thugs, Not Heroes.

As Baltimore burns, Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake is turning the flip-flop into a high art form, to the point where she is now apologizing to the rioters for calling them “thugs.”
She stated early Monday that police were instructed to allow “those who wished to destroy space to do that.” By Monday evening, facing heavy criticism from residents and business owners, she walked back from those comments.
As the city was in flames Monday night, Rawlings-Blake spoke freely on CNN about “thugs” and “criminals” who were destroying what so many had worked so hard to build, even as Marxist professor Marc Lamont Hill said the rioters were just expressing “righteous anger” and should not be called thugs.
By Tuesday, the mayor again walked back from her previous comments.
“I wanted to say something that was on my heart … We don’t have thugs in Baltimore. Sometimes my little anger interpreter gets the best of me,” she said, pointing to her head. “We have a lot of kids that are acting out, a lot of people in our community that are acting out.”

The president of the Baltimore City Council, Jack Young, also apologized to rioters Tuesday for calling them “thugs.”
Standing side-by-side with avowed gang members at a press conference Tuesday, he called the rioter “misdirected” youths. He also retracted claims that gang members were targeting police.
“We are all Baltimoreans,” Young said.
Rawlings three days earlier, before the worst violence broke out, thanked the Nation of Islam for its efforts to help “keep calm and peace in our city.”

 Redefining the word ‘thug’
According to Red Flag News, Huffington Post, CBS News and a host of other news sites, the word “thug” is, in the eyes of leftists, the new code word for the “N” word.
Yet, President Obama used the word in his own musings about the Baltimore riots Tuesday, so apparently the new taboo has not reached the White House yet.
But, the Baltimore mayor’s penchant for saying one thing in an off-the-cuff interview, and then retreating to another position later, gives the impression, rightly or wrongly, that her messaging is being controlled by someone else.
Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson, founder of the BOND program of mentors for black youths in Los Angeles, believes Rawlings-Blake is allowing some of the same leftist agitators that caused havoc in Ferguson, Missouri, last summer to take over her city.
“It’s the same people leading, agitating, who were behind the Ferguson looting and rioting,” Peterson told WND.

WND reported Monday that numerous media outlets, including the New York Times, Associated Press and New York Daily News, have reported that Malik Shabazz is the main organizer of the Baltimore uprising, which turned violent after the funeral of Freddie Gray, who died of a broken spine while in police custody. But what they failed to report is that Shabazz is the former national chairman of the New Black Panthers Party.
“He is involved, as is the Rev. Al Sharpton,” Peterson said. “And these groups have close ties to Louis Farrakhan, who said during the Ferguson riots ‘we’ll tear this G-damn country up.’”
Local Baltimore pastor, Rev. Jamaal Bryant, is working with the mayor and also has ties to Al Sharpton, Peterson said. “I saw him standing closely with the mayor at a news conference and he participated in some of those rallies saying the officers were responsible.”
“She said we needed to give them space to destroy. And then right after she said that, they went and started fires and destroyed police cars and broke windows, so I believe this mayor’s mindset is the same as that of Farrakhan, Jamaal Bryant, Sharpton and Barack Obama. They all think alike,” he said.
A long, hot summer in store?
Peterson believes America could be in for a long, hot summer if agitators move into other cities and work social media to stoke uprisings against police.
“We haven’t seen nothing yet,” he said. “The anger of black Americans and the blame game that they play I have never seen anyone play that card and get away with it. If we think this situation is bad, wait until the summer comes, because if you don’t deal with the anger of the black community, it’s going to get worse before it gets better, and they’re going to continue to get used by Obama and Sharpton and others that have an agenda to redistribute power and wealth.”
“And the black community, they don’t see how their strings are being pulled.”
Peterson said he was surprised to hear the Baltimore mayor talk about “thugs” destroying the city Monday night on CNN.
“I was surprised to hear her calling them thugs, because this woman had already given permission to the thugs to destroy police cars and property,” he said. “And now she’s apologized for those comments, so it is no surprise because she believes racism is what is holding blacks back, and she is in bed with Sharpton and those black preachers who are saying the cops are racist and especially the white ones. They all think alike.”
What is really hurting blacks is not racism but the decline of family values and years of high immigration levels, both legal and illegal, which have taken jobs from black workers and demoralized them and further perpetuated a lifestyle of drugs and crime, Peterson said.
Immigration taking toll on black community
The great black educator and orator Booker T. Washington warned of this 100 years ago, Peterson said.
Illegal immigration was not nearly as big of a problem back then, but Washington warned that too much legal immigration could harm black families still trying to find their place in the wake of emancipation and civil war.
“Washington and others were encouraging the U.S. government to put a temporary halt on legal immigration into this country to give black Americans a chance to pull themselves up, and now we can see that the flood of immigration, it’s overwhelming,” Peterson said. “But you never hear an outcry on that. The regular folks have lost their sense of taking care of themselves and providing for themselves and thinking for themselves. They know it’s happening but they won’t protest because they have lost the will to take car of themselves and do for themselves.”
Peterson believes the black community is being played by Democratic Party elites today almost as if it remains in bondage.
“Because you can’t control a moral people, you have to demoralize a people in order to control them.”
Almost 200 people were arrested during Monday night’s riots. At least 144 vehicles and 15 buildings were burned, according to the mayor’s office.
