From Right To Bear Blog:

How Chicago’s Gun Control Failed Miserably On July 4th

Screen Shot 2015-07-06 at 5.18.28 PMChicago as you know is a bastion for socialist liberal think.
And they believe that part of their constant scheming will somehow reduce gun violence.
The only problem is history is showing the reverse to be true.
Chicago presently boasts one of the highest murder rates in all the nation. This 4th of July, when people should have been out celebrating their independence, they were instead being butchered, in large part thanks to the lawlessness being promoted by the multitude of anti-gun laws present in Chicago.
Chicks on the rights tells us what happened.
You’d think that with all the gun control in Chicago, guns and gun-related crime would be, well, controlled.
But for people who know that criminals don’t GIVE A CRAP ABOUT GUN CONTROL LEGISLATION, we know that these types of laws don’t keep them from committing crimes.  And they don’t keep innocent people from getting killed.
Because it’s NOT ABOUT THE DAMN GUNS.

Beginning Thursday night and continuing through Sunday morning, 38 people were shot–and 7 killed–in Chicago during the July 4th weekend.

According to the Chicago Sun-Times, one of the Sunday fatalities was a 23-year-old man who was shot and killed about 2:30 am “in the Northwest Side Albany Park neighborhood.”
Two others with him were shot and wounded. In another Sunday fatality, a 26-year-old was “sitting in his car in the 7700 block of South South Shore Drive about 1 a.m. when someone walked up and fired shots into the car.”
A 17-year-old was shot in a separate incident and taken to the hospital, where he is stable.
On Friday, a different 17-year-old was shot and killed while playing basketball with his brother at Hadiya Pendleton Park in the 4300 block of South King.  A gunman opened fire around 4:45 p.m., killing the high school junior.
The boy’s aunt said, “He was a loving child, getting ready to be a senior at high school. He was going to start a summer job on Monday. He was very excited about it.”
And then there was a 7-year old little boy named Amari Brown, who was shot in the chest.
He was walking next to a 26-year old woman, who was also shot in the chest, but she has “stabilized.”
Amari was pronounced dead yesterday morning, and his grandmother asked the following:
“…who would shoot a 7-year old?…who would do that?  To a baby? All the kids that are getting killed out here – it’s crazy.  When is it going to stop?”
Excellent questions.  But none of it will stop by making more laws that keep law-abiding people from having guns.  Because the law-abiding folks aren’t the ones SHOOTING LITTLE KIDS, for crying out loud.
But never mind all that.  Democrat lawmakers in Chicago still blame the NRA for it. Or someone else.  They simply can’t look within to see what the actual problem(s) really are.
It’s both astonishing and incredibly sad how many times stories of Chicago’s unreal murder rate crop up in the news.
You don’t see these kinds of stories in more conservative gun friendly cities.
In the event someone does try to commit a crime in those cities they’re usually rebuffed because an armed citizen had the ability to respond with a weapon of their own.
The true failing is so much deeper than gun control too.
The growth of the welfare state and entitlement programs has created systemic poverty which as you know, breeds violence.
Provided those policies had never been enacted and gun control were a thing of the past in Chicago it might be a somewhat safe city to live in.
What do you think of the homicide rate there?
What could possibly done to correct it?
