To Expect Any Presidential Candidate To Know All The Players In The Middle East Is Very Presumptuous.

With Trump and Clinton Neck and Neck in Polls, GOP Candidate Shows Worrying Lack of Knowledge on Mideast Affairs

With GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump neck and neck in the polls against Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton, the Republican hopeful recently revealed some major gaps in his knowledge of Middle Eastern affairs.
During an interview with popular conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt, Trump was quizzed on some “commander-in-chief questions” about the volatile region.
When asked about the difference between Gaza-based terror group Hamas and Lebanese terror group Hezbollah, Trump responded that the difference between the two does not matter to him yet.
“[The difference] will [matter] when it’s appropriate. I will know more about it than you know, and believe me, it won’t take long,” Trump responded.
Earlier in the interview, Trump was angered by what he called a “gotcha” question posed by Hewitt on the differences between various terrorists.
The GOP hopeful acknowledged not knowing who Ayman al-Zawahiri, leader of al-Qaeda; Hassan Nasrallah, leader of Hezbollah; Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, leader of ISIS; and Abu Mohammed al-Julani, leader of the al-Nusra front, were.
“Do you know the players without a scorecard yet, Donald Trump?” Hewitt asked.
In response, Trump answered, “No, you know, I’ll tell you honestly, I think by the time we get to office, they’ll all be changed…You know, those are like history questions. Do you know this one, do you know that one.”
Last week, Trump signed a pledge vowing to not run as a third party Independent candidate should he not be chosen to lead the Republican Party for president.
According to a new poll published by SurveyUSA, Trump is leading over Clinton by 5 percent. National poll averages show a difference of only 2.5 points between the two in favor of Clinton.
