The whopping $56 million raised from donors to Democratic presidential candidates Hillary Clinton and Sen. Bernie Sanders "spells a**-whooping on election day" if the GOP doesn't nominate a conservative, radio host Rush Limbaugh warned Friday.

On his daily radio show, the conservative commentator conceded there's "a lot of enthusiasm" for the two Democrats.
"They are fully energized, particularly the Sanders people," Limbaugh says of their donors.

But third-quarter fundraising totals released this week – particularly from donors giving $200 or less – offer the GOP a "teachable moment," he says.

"The Sanders money [$26 million] is roughly equal to the combined haul of [Jeb] Bush, [New Jersey Gov. Chris] Christie, [Ohio Gov. John] Kasich, and [South Carolina Sen. Lindsey] Graham," Limbaugh notes. "One Democrat's raised more money than those four establishment candidates. What does it tell you? It's doom."

And of Clinton's $30 million total, "17 percent of it is from donors of $200 or less," he notes, adding "the percentage of [Sanders'] $26 million raised from donors of $200 or less is 77 percent."

"I'm gonna tell you what that spells. That spells a**-whooping on election day if the Republican Party does not nominate a conservative," Limbaugh warns. "[T]he [Republican] establishment candidates here are getting a lot of money, but nowhere near what the Democrats are getting."

Limbaugh blames Republicans for focusing on "moderates and independents."

"If they don't nominate one of these conservative candidates, then they are looking at another huge butt-kicking. … They keep nominating these moderates… they think are gonna get the independents and they keep losing," he says.

Limbaugh's grim take on the GOP fundraising totals comes the same day Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus warned the GOP is "cooked" if it fails to take back the White House in 2016.
"Our job as a national party is to elect Republicans, and it generally means House, Senate, presidential," Priebus tells the Washington Examiner. "However, I think that we have become, unfortunately, a midterm party that doesn't lose and a presidential party that's had a really hard time winning."
