FEBRUARY 23, 2016
On Friday, nearly 100 Muslim migrants started a mass brawl at a refugee camp
in Belgium- all because a young Syrian girl was apparently not wearing a
headscarf.
The young girl was reportedly harassed for several days by gangs of
Afghans intent on instituting Islamic law at the camp. When her fellow Syrians
came to her defense, a violent riot ensued. In the midst of the brawl, Iraqi
migrants joined the Syrians forming an alliance against the Afghans. A civil
war of sorts erupted as a result. The two groups began hurling everything
from chairs, brooms, trash cans, and other accessible items at each other
as tensions quickly flared. The rioters then turned their attention to police
who attempted to suppress the escalating violence.
Here’s a video of the violent "chair brawl":
Ultimately, 11 people were arrested. Seven others were injured. Most of the
 detained rioters were later released.
This is the most violent incident to date at the refugee camp in the small
town of Leopoldsburg, Belgium. In response, local authorities have proposed
new measures to curb the culture of violence within the camp. “Wouter Beke,
the mayor of Leopoldsburg, even suggested to separate people of different
nationalities living in the shelter as well as to separate single men from
 families,” reportsRT.
However, federal administrators quickly rejected proposals from the local
government, citing politically-correct talking points as a red herring against
public scrutiny.
“I find it totally unacceptable that some young Afghans find it necessary to tell Syrian girls to wear a headscarf and that they should not dress like Western girls."
THEO FRANCKEN, THE BELGIAN MINISTER FOR ASYLUM AND MIGRATION.
Separating nationalities for security
purposes at the camp may “encourage
segregation rather than integration,”
claimed Theo Francken, the Belgian
 minister for asylum and migration.
While Francken failed to advance any
 viable alternative solutions to the
violence, he did manage to denounce
the incident as “unacceptable.” “I find it
 totally unacceptable that some young
Afghans find it necessary to tell Syrian
girls to wear a headscarf and that they
should not dress like Western girls,”
said the minister. “They come here, they are guests here. We are not theirs.
They have to adapt to our rules.”
