Of course, Lynch didn’t mention the increase in faked anti-Muslim crimes committed by Muslims. Nor did she mention the 14 Americans killed and dozens wounded by Muslims in the 2015 San Bernardino Christmas party attack.

Attorney General Loretta E. Lynch focused attention on an uptick in hate crimes against Muslims as she visited a mosque in Northern Virginia on Monday, drawing parallels between discrimination prior generations have overcome and warning that attacks on one group endanger all members of society.
“There is a pernicious thread that connects the act of violence against a woman wearing a hijab to the assault on a transgender man to the tragic deaths of nine innocent African Americans during a Bible study at Mother Emanuel AME in Charleston, South Carolina,” Ms. Lynch said during her address at the All Dulles Area Muslim Society Center in Sterling. “There is a thread that links all of those, and when one of us is threatened, all of us are threatened.”
A total of 5,818 hate crimes were reported in 2015, a “sobering indication of how much work remains to be done,” Ms. Lynch said.
The number of assaults, attacks on mosques and other crimes that targeted Muslims grew by 67 percent to 257 crimes — the highest total since 2001, when more than 480 crimes targeted Muslims in the aftermath of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
Speaking to an interfaith crowd at the All Dulles Area Muslim Society (ADAMS) Center, Lynch called for citizens to come to the defense of their neighbors.

Federal agents raided the ADAMS Center during a 2002 terrorism investigation into organizations tied to the Muslim Brotherhood, according to court documents published by the Clarion Project.“A government affidavit said the group is ‘suspected of providing support to terrorists, money laundering, and tax evasion through the use of a variety of for-profit companies and ostensible charitable entities under their control, most of which are located at [the ADAM Center’s offices at] 555 Grove Street, Herndon, V.A.,” according to the report.Additionally, several accused terrorists have allegedly spent time at the ADAMS Center, including Farooque Ahmed, who was arrested for planning to bomb the Washington-area subway.Patrick Poole, a terrorism analyst and national security reporter who has written about the ADAMS Center, called the DHS secretary’s scheduled appearance concerning.“The ADAMS Center has been a documented hub of extremism that even in the most generous interpretation has a poor record of dealing with terrorists in their midst,” Poole said. “It was no coincidence that the Attorney General of the United States was canceling outreach meetings due solely to the presence of Mohamed Magid.”The fatwa mentioned in the invitation to the event was signed by at least one individual “who is currently in prison in Egypt convicted of terrorism charges,” Poole noted.
