Only days after retailers Nordstrom and Neiman Marcus both announced the decision to drop Ivanka Trump merchandise collections, two more retailers will follow suit.
The parent company of Sears and Kmart, Sears Holdings, announced Saturday that they have removed dozens of items from the Trump Home collection from their online offerings for both stores. The Trump Home collection includes bedding, furniture, chandeliers, mirrors and lighting fixtures.
Spokesman Brian Hanover said in a statement that they removed 31 items from their collection due to poor profits from those items, echoing the sentiment of both Nordstrom and Neiman Marcus earlier in the week.
“As part of the company’s initiative to optimize its online product assortment, we constantly refine that assortment to focus on our most profitable items,” Hanover stated. “Amid that streamlining effort, 31 Trump Home items were among the items removed online this week. Products from the line are still offered online via third-party Marketplace vendors. Neither Sears nor Kmart carries the line in brick-and-mortar stores.”
The removal of Trump merchandise by American retailers follows the inception of the “Grab Your Wallet” campaign, a grassroots effort aimed at protesting President Donald Trump. The boycott encourages people to avoid retailers who carry Trump merchandise, including both Donald Trump and Ivanka Trump collections.
All the retailers have cited poor performance as the driving factor in removing the merchandise. According to Fox Business, Nordstrom’s sales of Ivanka Trump merchandise fell by almost one-third the past fiscal year, with substantial drops in sales in the weeks leading up to the 2016 presidential election.
