Democrats Feel That American Victims Of Illegal Crimes Are Not Worthy Of Our Support

Liberals Apoplectic as Trump Gives VOICE to Crime Victims of Illegals

(Quin Hillyer, Liberty Headlines) Amidst outraged left-wing allegations that President Trump is “justifying white supremacy” with a proposal that “was also implemented by Hitler in Nazi Germany,” the president pushed ahead in his speech to Congress Tuesday night with calls for an office to support victims of crimes committed by illegal aliens.

Groups supporting tougher enforcement have documented numerous egregious crimes committed by such aliens. Meanwhile, the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Government Affairs followed on Wednesday with a hearing that featured victims of such crimes, as well as “evidence that the unsecure border has contributed to the opioid epidemic.”
“I have ordered the Department of Homeland Security to create an office to serve American victims,” Trump said in his speech.  “The office is called VOICE – Victims Of Immigration Crime Engagement. We are providing a voice to those who have been ignored by our media and silenced by special interests.”
While Democrats “audibly groaned” at the proposal (as AOL.com News put it), few Republicans stood or applauded. Trump followed by recognizing audience members Jamiel Shaw, Susan Oliver, Jenna Oliver, and Jessica Davis, all of whom had family members killed by illegal immigrants.
In doing so, Trump advanced a theme he frequently cited on the campaign trail last year, when he repeatedly mentioned Kate Steinle, a young San Francisco woman shot to death by (allegedly) a repeat felon who was back in the U.S., despite having been deported several times.
While some studies report that the rate of crimes by such immigrants is slightly lower than crimes committed by Americans, the raw numbers are high: One study by the Migration Policy Institute concluded that 820,000 illegals have committed crimes – and Trump on the campaign trail put the number between 2 and 3 million.
In one state alone, a group called North Carolinians For Immigration Reform and Enforcement has documented well over a thousand arrests of illegal aliens for more than 6,000 charges of child rape, sexual assault, or related crimes in just the past four years.
Still, the establishment media pronounced Trump’s office “the most controversial part of his speech” (in the words of the New Yorker’s Ryan Lizza, speaking on CNN.) They  eagerly quoted critics saying that not just the new office, but the mere reporting of such statistics in a separate sub-category of crimes, is “solely designed to skew public opinion” against immigrants.
Some critics couldn’t resist the most extreme rhetoric. At the Huffington Post, self-described Navy veteran and LGBT Advocate Brian Stone wrote that the new office’s mission “is racist government propaganda” that will “do nothing except provide official government sanction to the opinions of white supremacist groups.” Even that allegation wasn’t breathless enough for The UK’s Independent web site, which reported in large, bold print that “Adolf Hitler also published lists of crimes committed by immigrants.” The Independent’s report concluded that “the similarities are terrifying.”
The Heritage Foundation’s Hans von Spakovsky (quoted by CNN) offered what he put forth as straightforward common sense to the effect that any rate of crimes by those here illegally is too high a rate.
“The point,” he said, “is that every crime that is committed by someone who is here illegally is a crime that would not occur if they weren’t in the country.”
