Why Does The Left Only Give Grudging Complaint To Kathy Griffin? Is It That They Hope It Will Happen?

CNN Really Doesn’t Want To Talk About Kathy Griffin, You Guys

CNN Really Doesn’t Want To Talk About Kathy Griffin, You Guys

This whole Kathy Griffin debacle can be summed up in one incredulous question: What in the holy hell were you THINKING, woman???
Granted, she did apologize when it turned out that not everyone thought the photo of her holding up a bloody severed head made to look like Donald Trump was very funny. Which, I can’t imagine why people would be turned off by such a gruesome display –
The mind boggles.
As if this whole situation wasn’t bizarre enough, the clowns at CNN had to be called in. See, Kathy Griffin has been known to show up on the network’s New Years Eve coverage (I did not know this. Then again, I usually have more entertaining things to do on New Years Eve than watch CNN). So, they issued a statement regarding Griffin’s continued involvement with the network –
CNN is evaluating Kathy Griffin’s role in its annual New Year’s Eve coverage following the comedian’s controversial photo shoot in which she posed with a decapitated, bloody head resembling President Trump.

“We found what she did disgusting and offensive,” CNN said in a statement Tuesday. “We are pleased to see she has apologized and asked that the photos be taken down. We are evaluating our New Year’s Eve coverage and have made no decisions at this point.”
“Evaluating.” “No decisions at this point.” Well, good to see CNN isn’t jumping to conclusions here.
As if to illustrate CNN’s continued indifference, you have this exchange during The Lead with Jake Tapper talking about this very topic. The panelists – Molly Ball, Jen Psaki, and David Urban – just didn’t want to deal with Kathy Griffin –
BALL: Who is saying it’s acceptable discourse?
TAPPER: Donald Trump, Jr.
BALL: Who is saying it’s even discourse? I mean have a hard time bringing myself to care about something like this. I think it just speaks to the need to see themselves as a victim that they have, that they are constantly being persecuted.
TAPPER: The Trumps you’re talking about.
BALL: The Trump people are constantly having to point to the elites who are looking down on them. Of course, comedians and celebrities say dumb stuff and do dumb stuff and violence is not appropriate, but I just don’t think that that’s the source of President Trump’s problems.
TAPPER: David?
URBAN: I think we’ve got much bigger issues to focus on than Kathy Griffin.
TAPPER: Jen, do you want to weigh in at all?
PSAKI: Agreed with David.
Oh yes. CNN has MUCH more important things to worry about than Kathy Griffin joking about killing a sitting president. Like how much ice cream the president was served during dinner (no, I’m never going to let that go. For the simple reason that it’s the height of CNN’s anti-Trump insanity).
Sure, Kathy Griffin may be some has-been comedienne and hardly worth mentioning under most circumstances, but for her wildly inappropriate “joke” about killing the president. But considering this dismissal is coming a network that’s made a laughingstock of itself from its constant reporting of news that’s either false or completely irrelevant, you’d think that this would be a chance for them to redeem themselves while still dabbling in irrelevancy.
I’d have thought this would be the best of both worlds for CNN.
Now to give someone at CNN credit who actually deserves some, Anderson Cooper did denounce Griffin’s stunt on Twitter –

For the record, I am appalled by the photo shoot Kathy Griffin took part in. It is clearly disgusting and completely inappropriate.

But I am glad to know that just discussing a tasteless joke about beheading the president is too far even for CNN. Nice to hear that they do have some standards.
