Another "Clinton Suicide"

Clinton investigator found dead from “suicide”

Award-winning investigative reporter and ABC News star Chris Sign, best known for breaking a major expose that seriously damaged former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign, was reportedly found dead at the age of 45 on Saturday.

According to local police, Sign’s untimely death is being investigated as a suicide.

“Chris was a tremendous leader in our newsroom,” wrote ABC 33/40 on Saturday in a tribute to the reporter.

“He worked with our reporting staff on a daily basis, but also worked behind the scenes with the I-Team and with news managers on coverage of major events. You were very likely to get an email from him with a story idea in the middle of the night. He was passionate about journalism and showed it each and every day as he pushed himself and his colleagues to be the best.”

“Our deepest sympathy is shared with Christopher’s loving family and close friends,” local station ABC 33/40 said in a statement.

“We have lost a revered colleague whose indelible imprint will serve forever as a hallmark of decency, honesty and journalist integrity,” the statement, released by the station’s general manager, said. “We can only hope to carry on his legacy. May his memory be a blessing.”

Sign played college football for the University of Alabama and had three children, all boys, with his wife Laura.

He had returned to Alabama in 2017 after working for years as an award-winning investigative reporter in Phoenix, Arizona.

While working in Phoenix, Sign made headlines when he broke the 2016 presidential campaign news story that former President Bill Clinton had met with then-Attorney General Loretta Lynch in secret at the Sky Harbor Airport.

Lynch, a Democrat, was in charge of the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s illegal email server at the time of her meeting.

Lynch’s meeting with the 42nd president was one of a series of scandals that ultimately derailed Hillary’s presidential ambitions. She lost the November election to Republican Donald Trump.

“Sign wrote a book about his experience called Secret on the Tarmac,” AL.com wrote.

“Sign also won a 2014 Emmy Award for breaking news for his coverage of the shooting of two Phoenix police officers, as well as an Edward R. Murrow Award for spot news, for his coverage of the search for the ‘Baseline Killer’ and ‘Serial Shooter’ who terrorized Phoenix in the summer of 2016.”
