Can The First Amendment Stand Against This Attack

House Dem Suggests Punishing Catholic Church if Biden Is Denied Communion

Leftist Democrats in Washington, D.C., are once again blatantly attacking religion.

As some members of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops have pushed for President Joe Biden to be denied communion due to his support of legalizing abortion and making it more readily available, several politicians are threatening the church with retribution.

California Democratic Rep. Jared Huffman tweeted Friday that if the USCCB decided to “politically weaponize religion,” then “a ‘rebuke’ of their tax-exempt status may be in order.”

Yes, you read that right.

Thankfully, the First Amendment and its legacy both protect religions from the sort of “rebuke” Huffman alluded to. According to the Freedom Forum Institute, churches receive special exemptions from the Internal Revenue Service as part of a “First Amendment-based concern” to avoid violating their rights to free exercise of religion as guaranteed by the Bill of Rights.

Churches are designated as charitable organizations under the law, generally giving them tax-exempt status. As churches largely exist to care for the people in their communities and often do engage in extensive charity and outreach — hosting food drives, caring for the homeless, raising money for the needy and some even providing free medical services, among countless other ministries — it makes sense that they are usually exempt from paying taxes on the money they incur.

It’s also not as though this stance from the Catholic Church is anything new.

Will Congress vote to punish the church for its actions?

Yes No

Catechism 2272 of the Catholic Church says, “Formal cooperation in an abortion constitutes a grave offense. The Church attaches the canonical penalty of excommunication to this crime against human life.” The church, by its governing documents, is certainly permitted to deny Biden communion, and under established tax laws, it seems the United States government shouldn’t be able to interfere.

Nevertheless, Huffman and politicians like him are pushing for action.

And he’s not alone. Many Twitter users voiced their agreement with Huffman, with one replying, “It is long past time for them to stop receiving tax exempt status.”

Another user asked Huffman to “please push the IRS” toward action.

This amount of support for such an authoritarian course of action in the United States is not only surprising but frightening, especially considering the sheer number of Americans who rely on the Catholic Church for basic necessities.

According to Commonweal Magazine, Catholic Charities USA operates more than 2,600 service locations throughout the U.S. and served over 12 million people in need in 2019 alone. Forbes also listed CCUSA as America’s ninth-largest charity in 2016.

Taking away tax-exempt status from a behemoth of a charity like this would have nothing short of a traumatic impact on the millions CCUSA serves, and yet politicians like Huffman are still advocating for it.

At the very least, this recent push demonstrates the lack of concern Democrats have not only for the Constitution and its implements, but also for the lives and wellbeing of their constituents. Millions of Americans rely on Catholic Charities for food and shelter, yet congressmen and women like Huffman are all too willing to cut them off for nothing more than misguided virtue.

Thankfully, the First Amendment has thus far protected religion from such reckless measures. The Constitution has held strong thus far — let’s hope it will continue to do so.

Democrat Once Again Proves He Is a Racist!

Top Dem senator trapped in huge “all-white” beach scandal

The Democratic Party voters got a rude awakening over the weekend.

One of their own members was embroiled in a major scandal that went viral through Father’s Day weekend.

Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse, D-R.I., is in some hot water.

Reports say that the veteran senator is part of an exclusive all-white country club in his representative state of Rhode Island.

In the viral video, Whitehouse was asked by a local reporter about his membership.

“It’s a long tradition in Rhode Island,” he said when asked about the lack of diversity at Bailey’s Beach Club, “and there are many of them.”

He claimed that club officials are working to invite minorities to join the elite club.

“I think the people who are running the place are still working on that and I’m sorry it hasn’t happened yet.”

“And I think we just need to work our way through the issues.”

But based on a New York Post report, perhaps Sen. Whitehouse’s wife is reportedly a top shareholder of the club — and has been for years. If Whitehouse wanted to enact change, he could.

And in the past, he reportedly promised he’d drop membership of the all-white club back in 2006 when he had been running for office.

GoLocal, a Providence, Rhode Island-based news site, has consistently followed up with the senator to remind him of his failed campaign promise.

After the local press was denied comments on his involvement with the club eventually he was confronted by the media outlet, when he said that “it would be nice if they changed a little bit, but it’s not my position.”

He also told the outlet that he’d discuss the matter privately with club officials.

That was in 2017.

But it seems that the club didn’t care to hear what he had to say… or he never spoke to them all along.

And vigilant social media users were quick to point out the obvious…

What Is Wrong With This Administration?

Biden Admin Considers Overturning Trump Order That Makes it Easier to Send Immigrants Back to Mexico

The White House is considering an abrupt end of a policy enacted by former President Donald Trump that allows the U.S. Border Patrol a quick way to return immigrant families to Mexico.

A new Axios report on Sunday night revealed that Title 42, a Trump policy implemented during the COVID-19 pandemic, could end as soon as July 31.

The policy has allowed many illegal immigrants from Mexico to be quickly turned away from staying in the United States.

According to the report, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has “opposed using the public health order to expel migrants.” It added that a White House official said “a public health decision that will be made ultimately on those grounds.”

The Washington Post reported earlier in June, “U.S. Customs and Border Protection apprehension numbers for May released recently show the share of families — about 20 percent — being expelled under Title 42 continued to decline.”

Despite Title 42’s use, the report said in May “that eight out of 10 families that Border Patrol encountered were released into the country and allowed to pursue immigration cases.”

Iowa Republican Rep. Ashley Hinson tweeted, “Border Patrol agents told me we need to keep Title 42 in place as they attempt to manage the illegal immigration surge.”

Title 42 has continued to be used by CBP to limit the number of illegal immigrants from Mexico who stay in the United States. More than 100,000 people were expelled in May, according to the CBP.

On May 11, South Dakota Republican Gov. Kristi Noem, along with 19 other GOP governors, sent a letter to President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris urging them to take immediate action on the immigration crisis along the nation’s southern border.

“The crisis is too big to ignore and is now spilling over the border states into all of our states,” Noem and the other governors wrote in the letter.

“The cause of the border crisis is entirely due to reckless federal policy reversals executed within your first 100 days in office.

“The rhetoric of the Biden Administration and the rollback of critical agreements with our allies have led to the inhumane treatment of tens of thousands of children and undermined a fragile immigration system.”

Noem announced in April that South Dakota “won’t be taking any illegal immigrants that the Biden administration wants to relocate.”

The letter to Biden and Harris emphasized the governor’s perspective, noting, “We have neither the resources nor the obligation to solve the federal government’s problem and foot the bill for the consequences of this Administration’s misguided actions.”
