A homosexual pastor from Austin, Texas, claimed a baker at Whole Foods added a slur to his “Love Wins” cake. The company denied the allegation and filed a counter-lawsuit (Photo: KXAN-6 screenshot).
Jordan Brown, the openly homosexual Texas pastor who tried to paint Whole Foods’ bakers as discriminatory against homosexuals by charging they wrote a slur on a cake he ordered in blue frosting, not only admitted on Monday he had lied, but withdrew the lawsuit he had launched against the grocer.
“Today I am dismissing my lawsuit against Whole Foods Market. The company did nothing wrong. I was wrong to pursue this matter and use the media to perpetuate this story, Brown said, in a statement. “I want to apologize to Whole Foods and its team members for questioning the company’s commitment to its values, and especially the bakery associate who I understand was put in a terrible position because of my actions.”

He also apologized to his fellow LGBT community members, saying his actions had done them a disservice. Specifically, Brown had accused in April that the cake he ordered with the frosted phrase “Love Wins” actually included a homophobic slur that he didn’t notice until he left the store.
He accused Whole Foods of the action in a You Tube video that quickly went viral, and shortly after, filed a suit against the company.
It was only upon deeper scrutiny that it was learned Brown had actually written the slur himself, using a slightly different colored frosting, and then closed the box with a Whole Foods pricing sticker he mistakenly affixed in a spot on the box that was different from its original location. As WND previously reported, a later investigation also revealed Brown was facing financial troubles of his own, in the form of a lawsuit to recoup $28,000 in student loans.

“I want to apologize to the LGBT community for diverting attention from real issues,” he said Monday. “I also want to apologize to my partner, my family, my church family and my attorney.”
Whole Foods defended its baker and launched a counter lawsuit, alleging Brown’s accusations were little more than a hoax, aimed at extracting money from the company. In a statement released Monday, the company announced it sees “no reason to move forward” with the counter claim.
The full statement from Whole Foods is below:
“We’re very pleased that the truth has come to light. Given Mr. Brown’s apology and public admission that his story was a complete fabrication, we see no reason to move forward with our counter suit to defend the integrity of our brand and team members.”
