Top House Dem facing arrest in foreign spy scandal!?
Disgraced liberal Florida Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, a top political ally of Hillary Clinton, is under fire again as new revelations raise more questions about the exploding scandal surrounding her former IT worker — and it could end with her in handcuffs.
It involves something that’s haunted Clinton pals quite a bit in recent years: A missing server.
Some things never change!
The Epoch Times reports that a server at the heart of the scandal involving House Democrats foreign IT worker, Imran Awan, went missing last year as federal investigators began hunting for it.
Coincidence?
Awan was arrested last year as he attempted to board a plane to Pakistan as the investigation closed in on him. He and multiple members of the family were employed for years by a number of Congressional Democrats – especially Wasserman Schultz – and were paid MILLIONS for the work. They reportedly have ties to the Muslim Brotherhood.
Eventually, he and his wife, Hina Alvi, were charged with bank fraud and are expected in court next month, possibly for a plea deal.
That has to make Wasserman Schultz very nervous. If Awan has evidence linking Wasserman Schultz to wrongdoing, it could mean handcuffs for Hillary’s top political ally.
She was Awan’s prime defender in Congress, refusing to fire him and other members of the family working for the Democrats amid a series of reports involving alleged stolen equipment and monkey business with key data belonging to members of Congress and their constituents. She has even been caught on tape threatening D.C. police as part of the alleged cover-up.
The Epoch Times reports that at least two Congressional computers the Awans had access to had Dropbox accounts added to them, a violation of House IT policy.
“We have not been permitted to view content of the files on these workstations. However, based on the file names, some of the information is likely sensitive,” an inspector general presentation seen by the website stated.
But it’s the missing server that could be the biggest part of the scandal.
The server data is highly personal and sensitive and includes “calendars, emails, and information provided by constituents, such as personal and medical problems as well as their contact information and, in some cases, Social Security numbers.”
Even President Donald Trump has weighed in on the scandal:
That seemed to get Wasserman Schultz angry. She issued a terse statement in response to The Hill.
“I’m focused on doing my job,” she said. “Donald Trump should focus on doing his.”
When actually questioned, however, she clammed up. The Daily Caller released a video of one of its reporters trying to speak to Wasserman Schultz.
As you can see from the footage, she wasn’t feeling quite so chatty:
She might want to talk soon – because there’s a lot to answer for, including some extremely concerning behavior by the Awans when they had access to the Congressional servers.
“The House Office of Inspector General tracked the Awans network usage and found that a massive amount of data was flowing from the [congressional] networks,” Pennsylvania Rep. Scott Perry, a Republican, told Fox News. “Over 5,700 logins by the five Awan associates were discovered on a single server within the House, the server of the Democratic Caucus Chairman, then Rep. Xavier Becerra of California. Up to 40 or more members of Congress had all of their data moved out their office servers and onto the Becerra server without their knowledge or consent.”
Capitol Police asked Awan for a copy of the data on the server. They got it – or so they thought.
“Capitol Police found that the [the copy of the server contents] they were supplied was false,” Perry said, citing the House Office of Inspector General.
Wasserman Schultz has told The Miami Herald that Awan wasn’t initially fired because her office received “no evidence to indicate that laws had been broken, which over time, raised troubling concerns about due process, fair treatment and potential ethnic and religious profiling.” Wasserman Schultz and 44 House Democrats had previously waived background checks to hire the Awans.
She only fired him after he was arrested.
Maybe in November, Florida voters will do the same to Wasserman Schultz.
