CNN star busted spreading ugly Supreme Court lie
One of CNN’s top legal analysts was caught spreading a nasty lie about President Donald Trump’s Supreme Court nominee, Brett Kavanaugh, while live-on air.
It seems there isn’t anything CNN won’t say to smear Trump.
When speaking to Anderson Cooper regarding the stakes of the nomination fight, CNN legal analyst Jeffery Toobin told a bald faced lie right to the camera.
“When the Constitution was written in the late 18th century, people were expected to die in their 50s,” Toobin said. “The Framers never contemplated that these terms would regularly go to 30-plus years as they do now.”
“That’s what raises the stakes on these nomination fights — because they serve so long,” Toobin concluded.
Wrong. Dead wrong. In fact, not even close.
Nine of the first ten Supreme Court justices — all of which served in the 1790s — were over 50 years old when they passed away. Additionally, William Cushing — one of our country’s first Supreme Court Justice — served on the court for over 20 years.
These weren’t 10 extraordinary, record shattering old men, either.
A simple internet search verifies it, and it’s something any legal expert knows.
“Life expectancy was significantly shorter in the 18th century, largely due to those who died when they were young. However, many adults lived well past their 50s, including all the presidents of the Founding generation,” The Washington Free Beacon wrote. “President George Washington lived to be 67, John Adams to be 90, Thomas Jefferson to be 83, James Madison to be 85, and James Monroe to be 73.”
Perhaps it’s time to change CNN’s motto to that old Irish saying, “Never let the facts get in the way of a good story.”
