Obama Will Ignore Congress, Have UN Waive The Sanctions!

Veto-Proof Majority In House (367 Members) Sends Letter Warning Obama On Iran Deal

House foreign
So, are they all traitors?  Not to be outdone by the 47 Senators who put their names on an open letter to the leadership of Iran explaining that the Obama Administration can negotiate deals all it wants, but treaties must be ratified by the Senate, a bi-partisan group of Congress critters got 367 of the brethren to sign an open letter to Obama telling him that THEY have the power to lift sanctions – and they don’t have to do so even if Obama negotiates a deal that says sanctions will be lifted:
“Should an agreement with Iran be reached, permanent sanctions relief from congressionally-mandated sanctions would require new legislation. In reviewing such an agreement, Congress must be convinced that its terms foreclose any pathway to a bomb, and only then will Congress be able to consider permanent sanctions relief,” they write.
Oooo…feel the burn?
The letter itself was released by the House Foreign Affairs Committee and was signed by lawmakers with an incredibly wide range of opinions.  (The letter with all the signatures can be read here.)  Unlike the Senate’s letter which was quite short and to the point, the House’s letter strikes a far more diplomatic tone and lays out the case for NOT lifting sanctions against Iran IF the deal currently being negotiated in any way allows a pathway for that country to develop a nuclear bomb.
Bottom line: Congress is watching and is not going to allow the Obama Administration to sink the country with his version of foreign policy.  None of this ruling by fiat and executive order.
As Noah Rothman at HotAir put it, that’s 414 of the 535 elected lawmakers who are warning the Obama Administration on the Iran deal.  Are they all traitors as the 47 Senators who signed Tom Cotton’s informational letter have been called?
