All my life I have reminded fellow Jews in America that we are the luckiest Jews to have ever lived in a non-Jewish country.

I know what I’m talking about. I wrote a book on anti-Semitism, taught Jewish history at Brooklyn College, and fought anti-Semitism since I was 21, when Israel sent me into the Soviet Union to smuggle in Jewish religious items and smuggle out Jewish names.

Even after the massacre of 11 Jews in a Pittsburgh synagogue, this assessment remains true.

But the greatest massacre of Jews in American history is a unique American tragedy.

It is a tragedy in part because America has finally made the list of countries in which Jews were murdered for being Jews. While this was probably inevitable, given that 330 million people live in America, it is painful—equally for me as an American and as a Jew.

And second, while there is no difference between the murder of Christians at a church and the murder of Jews in a synagogue with regard to the loss of life and the suffering of loved ones, there is something unique about the murder of Jews for being Jews: Anti-Semitism is exterminationist. Anti-Semites don’t just want to persecute, enslave, or expel Jews; they want to kill them all.

On Passover, Jews read the Haggadah, the ancient Jewish prayer book of the Passover Seder. In it are contained these words: “In every generation, they arise to annihilate us”—not “persecute” us; not “enslave” us; annihilate us.

So, when the murderer yelled, “All Jews must die,” he encapsulated the uniqueness of anti-Semitism.

There is another unique aspect to anti-Semitism: It destroys every society in which it grows. The animating force within Adolf Hitler was Jew-hatred. More than anything else—desire for German “Lebensraum,” hatred of Bolshevism, a view of Slavs as subhuman—it was anti-Semitism that invigorated him. Anti-Semitism was not a Nazi scapegoat; it was the Nazis’ raison d’etre.

The results of German anti-Semitism for Germans alone: more than 5 million dead, including half a million German civilians; 130,000 more civilians murdered by the Nazi regime; 12 million Germans expelled from East Europe, 2 million of whom died; innumerable rapes of German women; Germany divided in two for half a century—and the loss of a sense of self and reputation.

I have no idea if, outside the universities and the Israel-hating left, there has been an increase in anti-Semitism in America. I wish I could trust the Anti-Defamation League, other Jewish organizations, and Jewish community newspapers. Sadly, only Jews on the left do, because most of these organizations have a left-wing, anti-Trump agenda.

Here’s a perfect example:

The mainstream left-wing media, along with left-wing Jewish organizations and media, told us every day for months after Donald Trump’s election that anti-Semitism had greatly increased. They cited the great number of Jewish Community Centers that received bomb threats.

It turned out, however, that about 90 percent of those threats were called in by a mentally disturbed American Jewish teenager living in Israel, and the other 10 percent were made by a black radical seeking to frame his ex-girlfriend.

So, the claim eventually vanished from the news—with not one Jewish or non-Jewish organization or media outlet apologizing for crying anti-Semitic “fire” in a crowded theater.

The dishonest now have the Pittsburgh massacre to blame on Trump. But that’s as big a falsehood as blaming Trump for the bomb threats. In reality, the Pittsburgh murderer criticized Trump for his close connections to Jews and Israel.

For Jews to blame the most pro-Israel president since Harry Truman—the only president with a Jewish child and Jewish grandchildren, moreover—for increasing anti-Semitism is another example of a truism this Jew has known all his life: Unlike Jewish liberals, who get most of their values from Judaism, Jewish leftists are ethnically Jewish but get their values from leftism.

The biggest increase in anti-Semitism in the last 10 or so years has come from the left. Just ask young Jews who wear yarmulkes or are vocally pro-Israel on most American college campuses. And this generation’s threat of Jewish annihilation comes from Israel’s Iranian and Arab enemies.

As a Jew who attends synagogue every Shabbat, and as an advocate for the carrying of concealed weapons, I fervently pray we will not need armed guards at American synagogues. America’s uniqueness has been exemplified by the fact that Jews do not need armed guards in their synagogues.

May it always be so.

Even if you don’t love Jews—if you only love America—you need to fight anti-Semites. As the Jews go, so goes the fate of the nation in which they live.

ADL: Jared Kushner Target of ‘Explosive’ Online Anti-Semitic Attacks

Jared Kushner, the Jewish son-in-law of President Donald Trump, who also serves as his advisor, has become the target of an “explosive” online campaign of anti-Semitism over the past week, the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) said in a report Monday.

According to the ADL, the campaign of anti-Semitism “has been driven by white supremacists and anti-Semites and has all the hallmarks of classic Jewish conspiracy theories” which includes “accusations that Jews in the Trump Administration are trying to start a war to advance the interests of Israel.”

The social media campaign, which began on April 5, features hashtags on Twitter such as #kushneratwar, #kushnerswar as well as #firekushner.

“#FireKushner, No one voted for Kushner. Indeed, many of us voted against people like Kushner having power,” tweeted Richard Spencer, a white supremacist who heads the National Policy Institute, a white nationalist think tank.

The growing online attacks against Kushner come amid the recent bombing of Syria by Trump in response to the chemical weapons attack there as well as reports of tensions between Kushner and White House chief strategist Stephen Bannon, who was removed from the National Security Council last week.

“The response to Kushner and the Trump Administration from white supremacists comes at a time where some have expressed disappointment at Trump, who they previously viewed as a champion of their cause,” the ADL said in its report.

The report also noted Kushner has been the target of anti-Semites outside of Twitter, primarily on neo-Nazi websites such as The Daily Stormer and Infostomer.

Erik Striker, a writer for The Daily Stormer, a neo-Nazi alt-right website, referred to Kushner as “President Kushner” and said that his “vital interest as a Chabad Lubavitcher [a Jewish Hasidic sect] in foreign policy is to advance Israel at the expense of America,” according to the ADL.

After the FBI charged an Israeli-American dual citizen with making more than 100 bomb threats against Jewish community centers and civic organizations, conservative Jewish writers are saying that their left-wing colleagues owe President Donald Trump an apology.

While admitting that anti-Semitic attitudes do exist on the far right, conservative writer Jonathan Tobin is arguing that left-leaning Jewish groups have been so traumatized by the rise of Trump that they haven’t paid enough attention to denouncing hatred of Jews that originates on the left. As a result, they have made combating anti-Semitism a partisan issue, he asserted.

“For all of his obvious flaws, Trump is clearly well disposed to both Jews and Israel.” Tobin wrote in an essay for National Review. “Yet Jewish liberals were too invested in their opposition to him to understand that by linking him to anti-Semitism they were making a colossal strategic error. Making anti-Semitism a political football, instead of a cause that unites both parties and their leaders, was a dangerous game that has now blown up in their faces.”

Joel Pollack, a senior editor at Breitbart News who also is Jewish, charged liberal Jews with damaging the cause of fighting anti-Semitism by using it for political gain.

“Those of us who have tried to raise the alarm about anti-Semitism, especially on college campuses — much of which is left-wing, and linked to anti-Israel activism — may now struggle to be heard, while perpetrators will use today’s hoaxes to hide tomorrow’s crimes,” he wrote.

Some liberals have accused Breitbart News of enabling anti-Semites by welcoming them, thanks to the efforts of Steve Bannon, who ran the site, and fired columnist Milo Yiannopoulis. Breitbart’s top executives, several of whom are Jewish, including CEO Larry Solov, have denied those charges.

Prior to the arrest of Michael Kaydar, a Jewish 19-year-old who lives in Israel, the left-leaning Anti-Defamation League had repeatedly pressed Trump to take “concrete steps” to address anti-Semitism.

“His well-documented reluctance to address rising anti-Semitism helped to create an environment in which extremists felt emboldened,” the ADL’s chief executive, Jonathan Greenblatt wrote in February.

Since Kaydar was taken into custody, the group has spoken out about the arrest but has not mentioned Trump.

The ADL noted, correctly, that despite the investigation into Kaydar’s alleged conduct, no arrests had been made in several other cases: “Even though it appears that the main culprit behind the majority of these attacks has allegedly been identified, anti-Semitism in the U.S. remains a very serious concern. No arrests have been made in three cemetery desecrations or a series of other anti-Semitic incidents involving swastika graffiti and hate fliers. [Jewish community centers] and other institutions should not relax security measures or become less vigilant.”

Others reacting to the Kaydar arrest cautioned against jumping to conclusions.

“I don’t know if it would be better if we found out if it was a right-wing white supremacist, neo-Nazi or follower of ISIS,” anti-Semitism scholar Deborah Lipstadt told the Religion News Service. “The antics of one sick, malicious young man should not be used to make a case one way or the other.”

Thus far, American and Israeli law enforcement officials have not released any details about Kaydar’s alleged motivations. His attorney has said that he suffers from a brain tumor that affects his behavior.

A 19-year-old Jewish teenager with dual Israeli-American citizenship was arrested Thursday by Israeli police as the “main suspect in a wave of bomb threats against Jewish community centers in the United States,” the AP reports.

President Trump was viciously attacked in February for suggesting the threats may have been a false flag to “make people look bad.”

The ADL and other far-left Jewish groups, without any evidence, blamed “white supremacists” who were “embolden by Trump” for being behind the calls.

It turns out Trump was entirely right and they were entirely wrong.

JERUSALEM (AP) — Israeli police on Thursday arrested a 19-year-old hacker who they said was the main suspect in a wave of bomb threats against Jewish community centers in the United States, appearing to crack a case that has sent a chill through the American Jewish community.

The surprising arrest of the Jewish man, who holds dual Israeli and American citizenship, came after a trans-Atlantic investigation with the FBI and other international law enforcement agencies. U.S. Jewish groups welcomed the breakthrough in the case, which had raised concerns of rising anti-Semitism and drawn condemnation from President Donald Trump.

Israeli police described the suspect as a hacker, but said his motives were still unclear.

“He’s the guy who was behind the JCC threats,” police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said, referring to the scores of anonymous threats phoned in to Jewish community centers in the U.S. over the past two months.

…Police said he used sophisticated “camouflage technologies” to disguise his voice and mask his location. They said a search of the teen’s home uncovered antennas and satellite equipment.

“In sophisticated cyber activity that I cannot detail, we obtained what we obtained and of course exposed him and his equipment,” national police chief Roni Alsheich told reporters. “This does not bring honor to the state of Israel of course. But I think it does bring respect to Israel’s police.”

Despite being proven entirely wrong, ADL chief Jonathan Greenblatt comically said it was “crystal clear” this Jewish kid is an “anti-Semite.”

The ADL tweeted Thursday that it was “relieved and thankful” a suspect was caught, and that despite there not being an obvious motive, the “impact of this individual’s actions is crystal clear: These were acts of anti-Semitism.”

“Even though it appears that the main culprit behind the majority of these attacks has allegedly been identified, anti-Semitism in the U.S. remains a very serious concern,” ADL CEO Jonathan Greenblatt said in a statement. “No arrests have been made in three cemetery desecrations or a series of other anti-Semitic incidents involving swastika graffiti and hate fliers. JCCs and other institutions should not relax security measures or become less vigilant.”

The Washington Post said Greenblatt and the entire top brass at the thoroughly disgraced ADL need to resign immediately.

“Self-serving groups such as the Anti-Defamation League chose to hype and politicize the threats without any idea of their actual origin,” David Bernstein wrote. “The ADL’s board of directors needs to clean house to regain credibility, starting with anyone who publicly attributed the bomb threats to emboldened white supremacists.”

They actually need to apologize to Donald Trump and all his supporters they viciously demonized to advance purely political aims. All their transparent propaganda campaigns directed against Trump and his supporters are directly in violation of their 501(c)(3) status which forbids them from taking a position on behalf of or in opposition to any candidates for office. The ADL opposed Trump from the very beginning and viciously attacked him as an anti-Semite throughout the campaign. They need to lose their tax-exempt 501(c)(3) status immediately and be made to register as Democrat lobbyists.
