Muslims Kidnap 280 Girls, Practice New Form of Female Mutilation

The mainstream media has failed us again, overlooking a report that hundreds of Christian girls were abducted and tortured in the most gruesome ways.

Speaking out for these persecuted girls in the Middle East are Mother Olga Yaqob and Sister Hatune Dogan of the Daughters of Mary of Nazareth. The nuns spoke with MRC during the In Defense of Christians (IDC) Inaugural Summit in Washington, D.C. September 11. Both women recounted horrific stories of Islamist terror, notably the story of 280 Christian girlswho were kidnapped by Muslim insurgents.

The kidnappers “repeatedly raped” and “misused” the girls, some as young as 5-years-old.

“I met an Iraqi girl, five-and-a-half-years maybe, and they kidnapped her,” Sister Hatune began. “I met her at seven-and-a-half-years. Until today, she [will not] say, no one knows, what happened to her, because she was misused. They [were] paid $30,000 dollars to release her. They released her, but under that condition. I am sorry for her. That was the youngest girl that I met. She was misused.”

She explained that it’s too often they witness “slaughtering, raping, kidnapping, taking ransom, killing, crucifying, and ridding the Christians of what they need” at the hands of Muslims in the Middle East.

Another time, Sister Hatune met 280 girls kidnapped girls. She described how they were “misused” by their kidnappers, some of whom “cut breasts and other [sensitive areas].” “I saw them with my own eyes,” she said.

The nuns slammed the U.S. media for ignoring the plight of Christians in the Middle East, covering much less crucial scandals instead, including NFL player Ray Rice’s domestic abuse. “I know he’s probably a famous player, and this [football] team, it’s a big, big issue in America, but this is a personal life of two people.” While, at the same time “200,000 people are displaced” and “people are dying from hunger” in the Middle East.

“I’m just surprised how much sometime our secular media they cover some things over and over and they miss such a big picture,” she continued.

It true we are more likely to hear about the royal family or the next sports star scandal than the countless Christians dying in the Middle East. However, we can’t entirely blame the mainstream media for reporting what most would rather hear about.

US Senator Ted Cruz was booed offstage this week while speaking at a conference for Middle Eastern Christians.

Cruz, the keynote speaker at the dinner gala of the non-profit In Defense of Christians (IDC), caused an uproar amongst the audience when he said that “Christians have no greater ally than Israel.”

The senator began his speech by saying “tonight, we are all united in defense of Christians. Tonight, we are all united in defense of Jews. Tonight, we are all united in defense of people of good faith, who are standing together against those who would persecute and murder those who dare disagree with their religious teachings.”

Turning his speech to radical Islamist terror groups wreaking havoc across the Middle East, Cruz condemned their use of religion to justify acts of terror.

“Religious bigotry is a cancer with many manifestations,” he said. “ISIS, al-Qaeda, Hezbollah, Hamas, state sponsors like Syria and Iran, are all engaged in a vicious genocidal campaign to destroy religious minorities in the Middle East….Our purpose here tonight is to highlight a terrible injustice, a humanitarian crisis.”

“Christians have no greater ally than Israel,” Cruz stated, at which point the audience began to boo the senator and yelled out for him to “stop it.”

Despite growing unrest and continued calls to leave the stage, Cruz continued, “Those who hate Israel hate America. Those who hate Jews hate Christians. If those in this room will not recognize that, then my heart weeps for them.”

“If you hate the Jewish people you are not reflecting the teachings of Christ. And the very same people who persecute and murder Christians right now, who crucify Christians, who behead children, are the very same people who target Jews for their faith, for the same reason,” he added.

These last sentiments expressed by Cruz led to greater calls of “stop it, stop it, enough” and even louder booing by the audience. “Out, out, leave the stage!” could be heard repeatedly. IDC’s president Toufic Baaklini came out on the stage to calm down the audience, but Cruz had already had enough.

“If you will not stand with Israel and the Jews,” he said, “then I will not stand with you. Good night and God bless,” he said before walking off the stage.

Speaking with the Washington Free Beacon after the event, Cruz was shocked at the level of “hatred and bigotry” he experienced at the conference, going so far as to say it was unlike anything he had ever experienced in his political career.

“I’ve certainly encountered audiences that disagreed with a particular point of view. But this virulent display of hatred and bigotry was remarkable, and considerably different from anything I’ve previously encountered,” Cruz said.

“The division and anti-Semitism expressed tonight by some of the crowd is not reflective of the teachings of Christ, and is in fact directly contrary to the tenets of Christianity,” Cruz stated.
