It’s been more than a week since local and federal officials
raided Subway spokesman Jared Fogle’s house as part of a child porn investigation, and though Fogle hasn’t been charged with a crime, the damage to his reputation may be irreparable.
Subway has already ended its relationship with Fogle, following news of the investigation. Fogle served as a longtime spokesman for Subway ever since he starred in an ad campaign promoting his weight loss on a diet consisting only of Subway sandwiches.
Here’s what you need to know about him:
1. The Feds Took Electronics, Documents & Other Items in a July 7 Raid of Fogle’s House

CBS News reported on July 7 that a law enforcement source confirmed Fogle was a suspect in a child pornography investigation.
Fogle’s lawyers, meanwhile,
told TMZ that nothing incriminating was found in his home. The FBI, Indiana state police, and U.S. Postal Service conducted the raid on Fogle’s home, located in Zionsville, Indiana.
They took electronics, documents, and other items and analyzed them in an evidence van.
The raid lasted from before sunrise on Tuesday, July 7 into the early evening. Fogle’s attorney has stated that his client cooperating fully with the investigation.
Fogle started the Jared Foundation to fight childhood obesity. During the raid on Taylor’s home on April 29, two thumb drives were found that contained both pornography and files connected to the Jared Foundation or to Fogle,
according to USA Today.
Fogle fired Taylor after the arrest. Federal investigators requested more time to prepare their case against Taylor on June 3, and they’ve been given until August 3.

2. Fogle Was Accused of Running a Pornography Business Out of His Home While He Was in College

VH1 News reported in 2007 that an anonymous source claimed Fogle ran a pornography rental business out of his home while he attended Indiana University.
The videos cost $1 per day and his collection was extensive, the source said. Fogle allegedly downloaded the porn from newsgroups and burned them onto CDs and VHS tapes.
Minyanville reported in 2010 that Fogle’s initial interest in Subway came because he was busy running his porn rental business and Subway was located on the first floor of his apartment building.
He also liked talking to a cute female employee who worked at the Subway, which furthered his interest in visiting the restaurant every day. The allegations about a porn rental business have not been confirmed by Fogle or any named sources.
In addition, Gawker
has reported that a former journalist claimed Fogle made serious, inappropriate comments about middle-school girls several years ago. Gawker said she told the FBI and wore a wire for them to record Fogle’s statements. Fogle’s attorney denies the claims.

3. Subway Suspended Its Relationship With Fogle Amid the Child Porn Investigation

Upon learning of the investigation, Subway first said
on Twitter that it was “shocked by the news.” Later,
on Subway’s Twitter account, the company stated: “Subway and Jared have agreed to suspend their relationship due to the current investigation.”
Subway also removed information about Fogle from its website.
TMZ reported that Subway stores have also been taking down or covering up any signs with Fogle’s picture.
In 1998, Fogle went on a diet where he only ate turkey and veggie sandwiches from Subway. He lost 235 pounds. Subway learned about Fogle’s diet
after a story about him appeared in the
Indiana Daily Student. His first commercial with Subway ran in a regional campaign on January 1, 2000. By 2013, Fogle had appeared in more than 300 commercials for Subway, along with cameos in TV shows and movies.
Subway’s relationship with Fogle has been financially successful for both parties. Between 1998 and 2011, Subway’s sales tripled.
The company told The New York Daily News that one-third to one-half of that growth is due to the ad campaigns featuring Fogle.

4. Fogle Has Been Married Twice: Once to a Pediatric Nurse & Once to a Teacher

Fogle married
Katie McLaughlin, a teacher, in August 2010. They met through Fogle’s brother and both were graduates of Indiana University. McLaughlin is Fogle’s second wife; he was previously married to Elizabeth Christie, a pediatric nurse. They married on October 14, 2001 and were divorced in October 2007.
According to the National Enquirer, Christie received a hefty settlement including 60 percent of the proceeds of his book deal with St. Martin’s Press and $230,000. Fame and many public arguments contributed to the divorce, the National Enquirer stated.
Fogle is Jewish and had his bar mitzvah in Israel. His father, Norman Fogle, is a doctor and his mother, Adrienne Fogle, is a teacher. When Fogle first started his Subway diet, his
father was skeptical and had Fogle come in every few months for a physical to make sure his health was fine. Dr. Norman Fogle is
on the board of trustees of The Jared Foundation.

5. Fogle’s Net Worth Is Estimated to Be $15 Million

Fogle’s net worth may be more than $15 million,
CelebrityNetWorth.com reported. He makes an undisclosed amount of money from Subway, along with $5,000 to $10,000 for personal appearances outside of the company,
according to USA Today. In addition, Fogle purchased his Indiana home for $570,000 in 2011.
Fogle
does not disclose any information publicly about his net worth. He also will not state how much Subway pays him. However,
it has been reported by National Post that he has a black card that gets him free Subways at any Subway restaurant.
