Every HIgh School Freshman Should See This Video And It Should Be Repeated Every Year Through College

PragerU Video: Shapiro Explains Why Facts Don't Care About Your Feelings

In a new video for Prager University titled “Facts Don’t Care About Your Feelings,”
Daily WireEditor-in-Chief Ben Shapiro uses his now-famous mantra to educate
students and other leftist-plagued Americans about the dangers of letting
emotion trump reason in their pursuit of a happy life.
Shapiro sets the table for illustrating his thesis by citing Vanderbilt University
students in November 2015, who protested the supposed “white privilege”
and “microaggressions” of the university. Shapiro notes that the students
couldn’t cite any specific examples to buttress their accusations, but felt
victimized.
Then, the anecdote. Someone had left a bag of dog feces on the front step of
the Black Cultural Center. As Shapiro states, “All hell breaks loose; full of
righteous indignation, student activists rush to Facebook to denounce the
racist act.” The police investigated, only to find that the bag was left by a
blind girl who could not find a trash can, and left the bag where a janitor
could throw it away for her.
Shapiro points out that the student group apologized, but hilariously added
another charge against the administration: “The needs of students on this
 campus are also marginalized."

Shapiro continues, “This is not a joke. On he college campus today, feelings
rule facts, and victims are heroes. According to the Left, all inequality in
America is due to victimization. They start by claiming that all non-white
people are victims of ‘white privilege.’ Then come women; they’re all
victims of the ‘white patriarchy.’ Then come gays, and lesbians, and the
transgendered; they’re all victims of our heteronormative and homophobic
society. But what if you haven’t actually been victimized by anybody? It
doesn’t matter. To the Left, as long as you feel victimized, you’re a victim,
even if you’ve never actually experienced discrimination, you’ve surely
been targeted by ‘microaggressions,’ nasty little words and phrases that
weren’t meant to be insults but just are.”
Shapiro then offers examples of such “microaggressions,” including asking
someone where they are from, a man holding a door open for a woman,
and addressing someone by their biologically accurate pronoun.
“In short," Shapiro says, “everyone’s a victim, except, of course, straight
white males. Also, anybody who dares to disagree with the Left. If you’re
guilty of either of those crimes, you must be confronted, even if doing so requires actual aggression, like say, a riot. ”
Shapiro illustrates how this works: first, the Left will say it’s okay to punch
Nazis; then they will say every conservative, “in fact, everybody they
disagree with,” is a Nazi.
Then Shapiro states the crux of his argument: “But here’s the biggest
problem with the Left’s argument: they’re based on feelings, not facts.”
He continues, “Take ‘white privilege.’ The only real privilege in America is
American privilege. Everybody in America has it. More than citizens of any
other country in the world: the privilege to make your own decisions and live
 the life you choose.”
Shapiro cites a Brookings Institute study that said success in America could
be traced to three decisions: finish high school, don’t have babies before
marriage, and hold down a job. He adds, “If you do these three things, you’ll
be on your way to the privilege of middle class life, regardless of race,
 ethnicity, sexual orientation, or gender.”
Shapiro refutes the mythic wage and gender gap with statistics, then
concludes, “These are facts, and facts don’t care about your feelings.”
After noting that prospective employers will not be interested in sob stories,
but rather interested in the applicant’s work ethic, Shapiro concludes, “So,
stop worrying so much about your feelings, and start worrying a little more
about being a good person, doing your best, and not getting in your own way.
If you don’t, the only thing you’ll be a victim of is yourself.”

Vandalism In A Jewish Fraternity Is Either Very Brazen, Very Anti-Semitic Or An Inside Job. We Hope It Is Not The Latter.

Three spray painted swastikas were discovered inside the Alpha Epsilon Pi house at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tenn., early Saturday morning after a party thrown by the Jewish fraternity. Two swastikas were inside an elevator in the house and a third was on the basement door. University administrators have condemned the vandalism, which campus police are investigating as a hate crime.
According to the Vanderbilt Hustler, the school’s student newspaper, Vanderbilt’s three Greek councils issued a statement calling the incident “insensitive, appalling, and disgusting.” The school’s Jewish community leaders have spoken out as well.
“Vanderbilt Hillel, Chabad, and the rest of the Jewish community on campus stands firmly with AEPi,” Vanderbilt Hillel executive director Ari Dubin told the Hustler. “While the swastikas were spray-painted at the AEPi house, this inexcusable incident impacts every Jew on campus, and has no place at Vanderbilt.”
Josh Hyman, president of the Vanderbilt AEPi chapter, said in a statement, “As brothers of Alpha Epsilon Pi, we are resolved not to let these actions define us as Vanderbilt students or as Jews. We are going to work harder to build bridges throughout the Vanderbilt campus to fight anti-Semitism and hate of all kinds. We are proud of who we are and will not let a criminal with a can of spray paint make us afraid or build tensions on our campus.”
Last month’s National Demographic Survey of American Jewish College Students reportedthat anti-Semitism was on the rise at American college campuses, with an average of 54 percent of 1,157 college students polled saying they’d experienced anti-Semitism during the first six months of the 2013-2014 academic year. Swastikas were spray painted outside the house of the University of Oregon AEPi chapter in July 2014, the second of such incidents in recent years.

Rush Limbaugh says surgery to restore hearing to his right ear was "an overwhelming success."
The talk show host underwent a procedure to install a cochlear implant, which was switched on for the first time Thursday.
"Magic happened," Limbaugh said on his show Friday. "It was the strangest feeling. If you can remember the first time you heard stereo music, then multiply it by 100."

Limbaugh, who had the same surgery on his left ear 13 years ago, said that it initially appeared the implant was not working right. But after a series of trial trial-and-error attempts, his audiologist was able to synchronize the devices in each of his ears.

He told listeners he went from being on "on the floor" of disappointment to the "roof" of optimism about his implant over the span of the two-hour session with his audiologist. Although he said it will still take several months for him to adjust to the device, he expects his hearing will improve over time.
"I have no doubt that in six months … this will be the best thing I have ever done," he said.
"I don’t know how to describe this other than magic," he added. "The bottom line is it's an overwhelming success, but the first 20 minutes I thought it was an abject waste-of-time failure."
Limbaugh said the implant has improved his ability to distinguish between background sounds and individual voices – something hearing specialists refer to as the "cocktail party effect."
Limbaugh explained that his first implant, placed in his left ear 13 years ago, uses older analog technology, while the new right-ear device is a more advanced, digital device. When his audiologist first switched on the new implant, it was "a disaster" and made voices sound "like chipmunks" and provided only distorted sound.
But when the audiologist set both of his cochlear implants to the same "high-resolution" setting – a process hearing specialists refer to as "mapping" – the distorted sounds disappeared and the devices worked well, providing a "new depth and a new presence, and a whole world opened up" in both ears.
"Eventually, it ended up working like a champ," he said. "For me, it's miraculous."
Dr. Carolyn Smaka, an audiologist and editor-in-chief of AudiologyOnline, said Limbaugh's experiences are not unusual. New implants often require some manipulation for them to work well.
"During a typical cochlear implant mapping session, it does require some fine tuning and some time," she told Newsmax Health. "So the minute the session starts, the patient is not going to have success, but over time the design is to get it work ….to map it. "
She added that Limbaugh prognosis is "likely pretty great," in light of the progress made during the switch-on session.
"It does take some time for people to get used to an implant after it's activated, but the fact that he had great success from the first mapping session suggests the prognosis for him over all is very good."

Dr. René H. Gifford, an associated professor and director of the Cochlear Implant Program at Vanderbilt University, added that many patients experience that "wow" moment Limbaugh describes, when first recognizing that they are hearing in stereo for the first time.

"Though we can demonstrate significant, objective improvements in speech understanding with a second implant, the degree of subjective benefit reported by the recipient is often much greater than what we see on paper," Gifford said. "Mr. Limbaugh's experience is absolutely suggestive of good things ahead.  The fact that he has already experienced a positive effect of bilateral hearing is an excellent indicator for his prognosis."
Dr. Anil Lalwani, chief of the Division of Otology, Neurology and Skull Base Surgery at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center, noted that while Limbaugh's early experiences are positive, he can expect to make additional gains over the next 12 months.
"It will take approximately one year for him to receive full benefit of the new implant," Dr. Lalwani said. "The newly implanted ear usually takes longer than the first ear to be implanted to reach peak performance. The first implant typically reaches peak performance within the first 3-6 months.
"With the second implant, not only will his sound localization and performance in background noise be better, he will also be much less tired at the end of day because he won’t have to spend so much energy to listen."
