This Is A Leader--Something We Never Saw From Obama

Trump in Poland: West’s Will to Survive is ‘Fundamental Question of our Time’

2

President Donald Trump in Poland on Thursday declared the paramount importance of defending our values, protecting our borders, building strong families, and preserving Western civilization. It was a speech that could have been given by President Ronald Reagan, reminiscent of Reagan’s historic “Tear Down This Wall” speech.

Addressing cheering throngs in the capital city of Warsaw, President Trump gave a serious speech about the serious threats facing the West as a whole: the United States, Poland, and more broadly the dozens of nations in Europe and North and South America that share a democratic form of government and typically hold to a Judeo-Christian moral philosophy.
His 35-minute speech covered a broad range of issues, praising Poland for its many accomplishments, pledging U.S. support for its ongoing endeavors, and thanking Poland for being one of the few NATO members that makes its full financial contributions to the alliance.
But then President Trump took a deeply philosophical turn, surveying the dangers to peace and stability facing not just the United States and Poland but scores of other nations across the globe.
“The fundamental question of our time is: whether the West has the will to survive,” he declared poignantly.
“Do we have the confidence in our values to defend them at any cost?,” the president continued. “Do we have enough respect for our citizens to protect our borders? Do we have the desire and the courage to preserve our civilization in the face of those who would subvert and destroy it?”
President Trump then cited the family unit and the values instilled in those family homes as the key for Western civilization: “We can have the largest economies and the most lethal weapons anywhere on Earth, but if we do not have strong families and strong values, then we will be weak, and we will not survive.”
It is possible that the president is setting forth the elements of the Trump Doctrine in foreign policy, one predicated upon American exceptionalism. Specifically, one that embraces that America’s greatness comes from America’s goodness—a goodness primarily derived from faith and family.
Far from isolationist, the Trump Doctrine seems to include that America can play a leading role in the world without subordinating the safety, prosperity, or happiness of American citizens to those of other countries.
Shortly after the speech, White House aide Sebastian Gorka appeared on Fox News, sounding a similar theme of how American exceptionalism can coexist with international engagement.
“President Trump is president of this country, not president of the world,” Gorka began. But then he explained that the president’s agenda does not require withdrawing inside our own borders.
“‘America First’ does not mean ‘America Alone,’” Gorka declared.

If Only Obama Had Acted Like A Strong President Throughout His Term, The World Might Have Looked Differently

Obama’s Last-Minute Move To ‘Box’ Trump In Is Likely To Backfire Badly… Here’s Why

Facts are stubborn things.

So, now President Obama grows a spine.
With barely a week left in Obama’s tenure as commander of U.S. armed forces, American soldiers are taking up a continuous deployment in Poland that could mean a permanent U.S. presence in the country.
And already the mainstream media are playing it in a way to paint the incoming Trump presidency as badly as possible — but they better be ready for a backfire.

The deployment that began Thursday was planned over the summer in response to Russian President Vladimir Putin’s aggression in Ukraine, including the 2014 Russian annexation of the Crimea.
According to the left-leaning U.K. Guardian, U.S. forces were initially set to move into place at the end of January, but the Obama White House pushed hat up – possibly in yet another effort to box in Donald Trump on one of the knottiest foreign policy problems he’s going to face after being sworn in.
Deployment was originally scheduled for later in the month but a decision was made last month to bring it forward, possibly a move by Barack Obama before he leaves office to try to lock the president-elect into the strategy.
And if Trump decides on a different strategy?

The New York Times coverage of the deployment hints at how that’s going to be framed:
The American president-elect, Donald J. Trump, enters office trailing a string of sometimes contradictory statements about NATO and insisting on a new era of chummier relations with Russia’s autocratic leader.
So there is considerable concern in Warsaw and other Eastern capitals about whether the troops will actually arrive in the numbers promised, and whether this desire for friendlier relations with Moscow will lead to a deal that undermines the whole effort.
So, in the Democrat storyline, Donald Trump is going to play Neville Chamberlain to Putin’s Hitler – with the usual assistance of the liberal media.
Unfortunately for Democrats, The New York Times, and the Obama administration’s place in history, the effort is likely to backfire badly.
As John Adams once put it, facts are stubborn things.
It was Obama who betrayed Poland in one of his first acts as president, when he canceled a planned missile defense system for Central Europe. At the time, The New York Times reported it as a way to shift defenses to meet the threat from the Islamic Republic of Iran. (The focus of Obama’s biggest appeasement.)

It was Obama – along with Hillary Clinton — who launched the infamous, failed Russian reset, with disastrous results. (A November column on National Review summed it up perfectly.)
It was Obama and his second, equally inept Secretary of State John Kerry who let Russia take over the American role of power broker in the Middle East, with disastrous results for the victims of Syria’s civil war and the Western European countries, particularly their women, now forced to deal with the war’s Muslim refugees.
It’s only now, in the twilight of the Obama presidency, that the president has decided that stopping Putin’s apparent ambition to reconstitute the Czarist empire in the east just might be a bad idea. And in typical Obama fashion, he’s doing it in such a way as to create as big a political problem for his successor as he can.
The problem for Obama is that Americans know full well which party has been in the White House for the past eight years, getting played for a fool time and again by the hard case in the Kremlin.
That’s where the political backfire comes in.
Americans know full well what’s happened over the past eight years. And they know full well which party is most likely to get rolled over by the Russians (and it’s not Republicans.)
It doesn’t take a doctor to know why Barack Obama has finally grown a spine when it comes to standing up for particular American allies. The point is not to aid America’s friends, or frighten the country’s foes. It’s to make Donald Trump’s job as difficult as possible.
The cynicism should be appalling. But it’s not even surprising.
What do you think?

This Story Will Make You Sick To The Stomach. What Cruelty! What Monsters There Are In This World!

Premature baby feet
Doctors in a Polish hospital allegedly left a baby born alive after a botched abortion to sit unattended until it died.

Witnesses told Republika Television that a baby born March 7 at Holy Family Hospital in Warsaw was ignored by hospital staff for one hour because medical tests indicated it had Down Syndrome, the Global Dispatch reported Tuesday. The baby, which had been developing for 24 weeks, was allegedly crying until its death.
Obstetricians say that it is theoretically possible, but doing so would be difficult for a premature infant.
Hospital employees insist they acted within the law. Spokesperson Dorota Jaslowska-Niemyska told the website a patient came in near the end of her 23rd week of pregnancy. She would answer no further questions when asked if the dignity of the child was respected upon its birth.
“It is confidential and I am not allowed to comment on the details of this procedure,” Jaslowska-Niemyska said.

Abortion laws in Poland (a nation with over 30 million Catholics) are stringent. The procedure is illegal in most cases unless the mother’s life is in danger or the unborn child has a severe and irreversible handicap, Life Site News reported Tuesday.
Pro-life supporters in Warsaw say the child became a patient in need of medical care the moment it was born and they want hospital personnel to face criminal charges.
Bartosz Lewandowski, a lawyer from Ordo Iuris Institute, told a local television station that Poland’s Doctors Code of Ethics defines any child born as a patient who must be assisted by doctors, the Global Dispatch reported.

Worldwide Things Are A Changin' And Americans And Their "Leaders" Had Better Awaken To The Risk Before It Is Too Late.

Is America the
Sun or the Moon?

By Jeff D. Opdyke, Editor of Profit Seeker
Dear Tom,
Strolling through Warsaw last year, I stopped to take a few photos in the snow of 16th century astronomer and mathematician, Nicolaus Copernicus, who proved that the heavenly stars and planets orbit the sun. Most thought Nick was mad, given the conventional wisdom of the day that insisted the Earth was center of the known universe.

But with time — lots of time — people came around to the truth.

Today, many people think I’m mad when I contend that America is not the center around which the world economy spins. Conventional wisdom has them convinced that no other reality can exist.

But with time — far less than Copernicus’s theory needed — they, too, will be forced to accept the truth.

They will realize, probably too late, that this dog had its day in the sun and is now fat and lazy and pretty much living on its laurels, sleeping on the porch. The world, in reality, is now spinning around Asia, China in particular. And as soon as you drop your belief in conventional wisdom, the sooner you can begin to build your wealth.

To believe that America is the epicenter of our modern world is a dangerously dated and simple-minded belief.

We still throw our weight around — sometimes for good, sometimes for not-so-good. And the world still sort of shows us some respect, much like a teenage son shows dad a little respect on the basketball court … right before schooling him.

The rest of the world is rapidly moving away from an American-centric view; even some of our Western partners are beginning to look away.

Australia’s main trading partner today: China, which buys more than 30% of all the goods the Aussies sell to the world; exports to the U.S. are one-fifth the size. Clearly, China is more important to Australia’s long-term economic health than the U.S., and, thus, Australians clearly see greater utility in strengthening ties in the East.

Neighboring New Zealand in the last few weeks signed a currency deal with China that removes the U.S. dollar from trade deals between the two countries. Though largely overlooked here in the States, this opens the door to many more such arrangements and seriously weakens the already-specious but nonetheless conventional argument that the U.S. dollar will always be relevant because it represents 81% of world trade. Great … for now. But in which direction does the 81% go when other countries begin following New Zealand (and they most assuredly will, since trading through a third currency like the dollar adds unnecessary costs)?

Germany, meanwhile, announced last month that it’s expanding the new Silk Road with China — 7,000-mile railway already connects Chongqing, in south-central China, to Duisburg, in western Germany. That once-a-week rail link takes half the time of seaborne trade and is half the cost of air freight. Now, China and Germany want to expand it to thrice-weekly service, with the idea of one day making it a daily service.

China’s imports into Germany now are nearly double America’s. As for exports from Germany … well, China only marginally trails the U.S. Erich Staake, president of a Duisburg port company, says large trading partners like the U.S. simply don’t have the growth potential to be as meaningful as China will be to Germany’s future.

Sadly Regressing While the World Progresses

As someone who pays a great deal of attention to the ways the world is changing, it’s not very hard to see how these individual data points coalesce into a picture very different than the one that conventional thinkers here in America want you to believe represents global reality.

Yes, we are a great country … though certainly not as great as we used to be: 12th in economic freedom, 29th in education, 19th in corruption. We are, however, No. 1 in health care spending — yay! — but somehow manage 35th place in longest lifespan and 1st place in egregiously expensive medical care — not so yay! We lead the world in public debt and are No. 6 in household debt. We have the fourth-highest poverty rate among OECD countries, and we’re one of the world leaders in child poverty. Per-capita income is declining, not rising.

We are, as a country, sadly regressing as much of the rest of the world — including, yes, China — are progressing. The rest of the world is taking over the mantle of supremacy that the West, and the U.S. in particular, once controlled.

The emerging nations — led by China; sorry if you’re unhappy about that — are the new center of the world. They represent the global growth of tomorrow.

We will still be an important part of the train that is the world economy, but we will no longer be the lead engine. In a Copernican world, we’re not the sun; just one of the larger planets.

For investors open-minded enough to accept that, this is an opportunity. This new world that’s taking shape will create vast wealth for those who put their money to work away from America.

You just have to realize how the orbit is changing.
Until next time, stay Sovereign …
