The Dangerous Woman Suggests A Dangerous Plan

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s ‘Green New Deal’ is Just Socialism in a Pretty Bow

Liberals have been going on about how upset they think conservatives are about Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’ (AOC) ancient dancing video. In the meantime, most of us have barely noticed, although it would be nice if the Daily Wire’s Andrew Klavan would stop talking about how he doesn’t care about how cute he thinks she is.
More interestingly, the Democrats have shoved AOC out in front as the spokes-maven for all of their most ambitious and hare-brained socialist ideas. The latest is a so-called “Green New Deal.” The plan would have the US completely dependent on non-fossil fuel by the year 2030.
Right off the bat, you’ve probably noticed that its name is reminiscent of The New Deal, which has made the poor massively dependent on welfare and destroyed the family unit. So, if that’s not warning enough for you, here are five major flaws with the Green New Deal that are probably a bit too technical for their moon-eyed Washington advocate to understand.
The GND includes programs that have nothing to do with renewable energy. Supporters of the plan are spending most of their time perseverating about the renewable energy mandates that it includes- but those mandates are far from the whole story. AOC’s proposal calls for both single payer healthcare policies and a number of basic income programs. You’re probably wondering what those have to do with green energy. The answer is, ‘precisely bub-kiss.’
The GND would also call for a federal jobs guarantee. That means that the government would artificially create jobs to be given to people who aren’t smart or talented enough to find work on their own. So, if you’ve ever seen a road crew where half of the workers are standing around “supervising” the others- yeah, it would look a lot like that.
It would have no effect on “global warming.” The main reason for the GND, supposedly, is to curtail the effects of climate change. However, there is no reason to think that their projections on climate change are even remotely accurate. Even if the US were to cut emissions by 100%, those of Africa, China, and India would more than make up for it. In other words, only the US is expected to participate in any of the green initiatives the program would create. That’s a bit like trying to fight a lion with your farts.
It would give money to many left-wing interest groups. Written into the GND is a boatload of handouts to left-wing political initiatives that have little or nothing to do with green energy. In the language of the proposal, there are a number of provisions calling for the creation of new labor unions and related programs. According to the proposal, the GND would, “deeply involve national and local labor unions to take a leadership role in the process of job training and worker deployment.” It also promises “funding for massive investment in the drawdown of greenhouse gases.” Yeah, it actually used the word, “massive.” It seems rather that AOC’s ghostwriters are just as fairy-brained as she is.
Renewable energy is way more expensive than fossil fuel. Contrary to popular liberal belief, so-called renewable energy is a hell of a lot more expensive than fossil fuels. Fossil fuels are far more powerful and efficient than solar and other so-called green energies. What’s more, the high tech electronics needed for the new infrastructure call for new development in battery technology- and battery manufacturing is one of the dirtiest and least environmentally friendly processes there are. What’s more, high tech green energy devices call for a huge increase in strip mining for rare minerals. And the chemical process to make advanced alloys- is a major source of pollution. But don’t tell AOC that. She would probably just cry or call you a racist.
It would blast the national debt into orbit. If all of that nonsense doesn’t kill the deal, there’s also the price tag- which comes in at about $40 trillion in the first ten years. Imagine, the hit that the basic income policy would deliver to businesses- add to that the burden of an economy drained flat by the cost of this insane program. The Mercatus Center says that the healthcare component of the GND would cost more than $35 trillion.
With a cost breakdown like that, it really can’t rightly be called a green energy initiative. It’s a healthcare initiative + $5 trillion in high tech pork.

Will "Mental Illness" Confiscations Become Abusive?

It’s Happening: Confiscation Begins After New Gun Control Law Enacted

 Print
The first firearm seizure has occurred under a controversial new firearms measure enacted by Republican Florida Gov. Rick Scott in the wake of the Parkland shooting.
According to the Orlando Sentinel, the order was issued Friday by a Broward County judge.
“Four firearms and 267 rounds of ammunition were ordered removed from a 56-year-old Lighthouse Point man who was determined to be a potential risk to himself or others,” the Sentinel reported.
“The guns and ammunition have been temporarily removed from the man under the state’s new ‘risk protection’ law, which is also sometimes called ‘red flag’ legislation, Lighthouse Point City Attorney Michael Cirullo confirmed,” the paper continued.
“The man was also taken to a hospital for involuntary psychiatric treatment under the state’s Baker Act. But the civil ruling removing his access to guns and ammunition was granted under the new legislation — which permits confiscating guns from people who have not been committed but are deemed a potential risk to themselves or others, according to the order signed by Broward’s Chief Judge Jack Tuter.”

According to Breitbart, the provision is part of a new $400 million law signed by Gov. Scott earlier this month.
The law allows a family member or law enforcement to petition a judge to take away the weapons of an individual deemed to be a risk.
The judge can then decide whether the guns will be confiscated from the individual.
“This is not about the Second Amendment and it’s not about the NRA,” said Glenn Troast, the mayor of Lighthouse Point.
“We need commonsense gun laws and this is a commonsense gun law that gives police officers new tools they need to help us protect our community.”
The bill has divided gun rights proponents.
On one hand, one of the biggest issues the right has brought up in the wake of the Parkland shooting is mental health and whether law enforcement has the proper tools to take away guns from those who have “red flags” in terms of mental illness.

Do you think this Florida law will prevent shootings?

On the other hand, worries about due process have been raised, particularly considering the fact that the bill could simply act as a backdoor for confiscation.

President Donald Trump raised some of these concerns after a listening session with lawmakers in which he intimated he supported seizing guns first, then worrying about due process later.
Given that Florida’s legislation is really the first test of the balance between due process and mental health safeguards since the Parkland shooting, it will be interesting to see how the law — and particularly this case — ends up turning out.
If this ends up being an effective tool at stopping shootings — one which preserves gun rights — it’s easy to see plenty of conservatives getting on board.
However, if it turns out to be a backdoor for confiscation without due process, this could be the beginning of a major battle for the soul of the Second Amendment.
What are your thoughts on this new law?

Is America in the midst of a bloody war on cops?
Within hours of a police-officer killing spree in which five officers were killed and seven others injured (plus two civilians) in a targeted shooting attack in Dallas, Texas, Thursday evening, reports of other shootings of police officers in at least three other states have surfaced.
In fact, 26 police officers have been killed in 2016, a number 44 percent higher than this time last year, according to USA Today.
Those incidents include at least 11 ambushes, which is already more than the eight ambushes that took place in all of 2015.
One of the suspects in Dallas, Micah X. Johnson, was a member of a black-power group and served six years in the U.S. Army Reserve. He reportedly told police during a standoff in which he was killed that his intent was to kill white people and that more attacks were coming.
ABC News reported, “Other [police] departments reported being bombarded with threats and some implemented new policies requiring officers to patrol in pairs.”

He killed a woman driving down the highway named Jennifer Rooney, a 44-year-old mother of two who was delivering the morning’s newspapers. The gunman also injured three others, who are expected to survive. One of his victims included Bristol Police Officer Matthew Cousins who was treated for a leg wound and released from the hospital.
An officer returned fire, striking Scott.

An Army spokeswoman confirmed to ABC News that Scott served from January 1998 to June 1999 – just 17 months. He was a private in the 5th Battalion 5th Air defense Artillery Regiment stationed in South Korea.
Scott’s brother, Gerard Griffin, told ABC News Scott “was a little angry” when he exited the military.
“He seemed to be getting more and more frustrated with the condition of black people in America,” Griffin said.
Griffin said he’s struggling to understand why his brother would resort to violence.
“Don’t get me wrong, everything he did was wrong,” he told ABC. “I ain’t condoning nothing he did at all. But frustration, we can all understand that.”
Scott is in serious but stable condition at the Bristol Regional Medical Center.
A spokesman with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said investigators still haven’t determined if Scott was only targeting white people.

Georgia
A white police officer in Valdosta, Georgia, was shot Friday morning after “an Asian male” called 9-1-1 to report a car break-in and then ambushed the officer who was dispatched to the scene.
“The officer called out on the radio screaming for assistance,” Valdosta Police Chief Brian Childress said at a news conference.
One shot hit Officer Randall Hancock in his abdomen, and others hit his vest. Hancock is in stable condition and is recovering from surgery.
The suspected gunman, identified as 22-year-old Stephen Paul Beck, was injured in the exchange of gunfire and is expected to survive. Charges against Beck are still pending.
“We’re putting pieces together to understand what happened and why, developing witnesses,” said Scott Dutton, spokesman for the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, according to London’s Daily Mail. “There’s nothing to indicate there’s a connection to [Dallas].”
Childress said the shooter’s motive is still unclear.
“You start to wonder,” the police chief said. “But any motive of why this happened this morning, it would be speculation.”
Missouri
A local police officer was shot at 11 a.m. local time in Missouri near St. Louis while he conducted a Friday traffic stop, WND reported.
He’s now in critical condition and “fighting for his life,” according to KABC-TV.
The officer works for the Ballwin Police Department and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Ballwin is located about 20 miles outside of St. Louis.
“A suspect was reported to be in custody after a foot chase,” and a “weapon was recovered,” other media outlets reported.
Fox 2 Now said the officer was shot while conducting a traffic stop in west St. Louis County, near New Ballwin Road, north of Manchester.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported the officer, who has not been identified, suffered neck wounds.
The suspect was describe by police as a tall, thin black male driving a blue Ford Taurus with temporary Illinois tags. He was chased down and taken into custody without incident, according to reports.
Police have not named the suspect, and they said they’re still uncertain about his motive.
St. Louis County Police Chief Jon Belmar called Friday “a sad day for law enforcement.”
