Are The Memo And The Mueller Investigation The Same?

Gowdy: Nunes memo does not ‘in any way’ discredit Mueller investigation

Gowdy: Nunes memo does not ‘in any way’ discredit Mueller investigation
Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.) controverted many of the talking points from some Republicans when he tweeted that Special Counsel Mueller's investigation was not undermined by the FISA memo released Friday. (Image Source: YouTube screenshot composite)
In a series of tweets from his official social media account Friday, Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.) explained why the release of the controversial FISA memo didn’t impugn the integrity of the investigation by Special Counsel Robert Mueller.
Here’s what he said:
“It is important for the American public to know if the dossier was paid for by another candidate,” he tweeted, “used in court pleadings, vetted before it was used, vetted after it was used, and whether all relevant facts were shared with the tribunal approving of the FISA application.”
“While this memo raises serious concerns with the FISA process,” he added, “I have been and remain confident in the overwhelming majority of the men and women serving at the FBI and DOJ.”
“As I have said repeatedly, I also remain 100 percent confident in Special Counsel Robert Mueller,” he added.
“The contents of this memo do not – in any way – discredit his investigation,” Gowdy concluded.
Devastating or a dud?
Others, like Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton disagreed. On Fox News’ “Outnumbered,” Fitton said that the revelations in the memo were “devastating” to the Russian investigation since the justification for the probe was in part based on the dubious “Trump dossier.”
“The whole thing, I think, really, is subject to being called off now by the Justice Department if they’re brave enough, based on these disclosures,” he said.

Will Memo Make Things Worse In Congress?

GOP rep calls for prosecution of ‘traitors’ identified in FISA memo

GOP rep calls for prosecution of ‘traitors’ identified in FISA memo

Rep. Paul Gosar (R-Ariz.) called in a statement for the prosecution of top FBI and Department of Justice officials after the release of the controversial FISA memo Friday.
Here’s what he said:
“The House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence memorandum on the FBI abuse of FISA warrants and targeting a sitting President is not just evidence of incompetence but clear and convincing evidence of treason,” Gosar said in the statement.
“The FBI knowingly took false information from the Democratic National Committee and the Hillary Clinton campaign and then used it to smear Donald Trump in order to hurt his campaign,” he explained.
“This is third world politics where the official government agencies are used as campaign attack dogs,” he added.
“The full throated adoption of this illegal misconduct and abuse of FISA by James Comey, Andrew McCabe, Sally Yates, and Rod Rosenstein is not just criminal but constitutes treason,” he claimed. “I will be leading a letter to the Attorney General seeking criminal prosecution against these traitors to our nation.”
“Finally,” Gosar concluded. “Let me say this to those members of Congress who fought so hard to keep the truth from the American public. Your efforts to protect a corrupt organization are duly noted. I am not surprised Sen. Flake has again cast his lot with the Democrats and those that attack true patriots. Good riddance.”
Has the White House said anything about this?
The Trump administration appeared to indicate that there would be no prosecutions as a result of the memo released Friday. “White House spokesman says no changes will be made at the Justice Department following release of Republican memo on Russia probe critical of the department,” reported Reuters.

We Need More Of These Raids

ICE Raids 77 Northern California Businesses
Immigration agency cracks down on rogue sanctuary state

The Department of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) carried out searches and served audit notices to 77 businesses in Northern California this week, indicating that ICE chief, Thomas Homan, intends to fulfill his promise to enforce federal law in the 'sanctuary state.'
In what is likely the largest localized operation of its kind under the Trump administration thus far, agents targeted workplaces in the Bay Area and Sacramento - a region well-known for sheltering illegal aliens and a stronghold of rogue California governor, Jerry Brown, who recently signed a bill into law declaring the entire state a 'sanctuary' for illegal immigrants and criminals.
In a statement released by ICE, the agency provided details, protocols, and motives for the sweep -
From Jan. 29 to 31, 2018, ICE’s Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) special agents served notices of inspection (NOIs), also known as I-9 audit notices, to approximately 77 businesses across the San Francisco area of responsibility. A notice of inspection alerts a business owner that HSI is going to audit their hiring records to determine whether or not they are in compliance with the law. Employers are required to produce their company’s I-9s within three business days, after which HSI will conduct an inspection for compliance.
ICE Deputy Director Tom Homan previously stated that he has directed Homeland Security Investigations to step up worksite enforcement — to include conducting more I-9 audits in furtherance of pursuing more criminal investigations.
The actions taken this week reflect HSI’s stepped-up efforts to enforce the laws that prohibit businesses from hiring illegal workers. HSI’s worksite enforcement strategy is focused on protecting jobs for U.S. citizens and others who are lawfully employed, eliminating unfair competitive advantages for companies that hire an illegal workforce, and strengthening public safety and national security.
NOIs were served in San Francisco, Sacramento, San Jose, and throughout the AOR.
California Attorney General Xavier Becerra, anticipating deeper scrutiny and action from immigration enforcement agencies, issued a shocking warning last month to California employers that his office would pursue penalties and fines of up to $10,000 if they cooperated with federal authorities.
"It’s important, given these rumors out there, to let people, and more specifically employers, know that if they voluntarily start giving up information about their employees in ways that contradict our new California laws, they subject themselves to actions by my office," Becerra saidat a press conference in January.
'Community organizers' involved in crusading on behalf of illegal aliens have set up hotlines for 'immigrants' to call to report raids, and are organizing training sessions for 'legal observers and moral witnesses' to hamper law enforcement.
"We denounce the racist agenda at play and the trauma that raids inflict on immigrant communities," has announced one such group, Faith In Action. "As leaders in San Mateo County, we know our immigrant neighbors make up a vital part of our families and our community. And as people of faith, we believe all members of our community should be treated with dignity, no matter what they look like or where they were born."
The latest enforcement blitz comes just days after ICE carried out raids of nearly 100 7-Eleven convenience markets across 17 states - including California.
Acting ICE director Homan recently called for criminal charges to be brought against politicians who advance 'sanctuary' policies and thwart federal immigration law, and fired a warning shot across the bow of California lawmakers in the process.
"I think we charge some of these sanctuary cities with violating federal law," Homan said in an interview on Fox News. "This isn’t the America I grew up in. We gotta take these sanctuary cities on. We gotta take them to court, and we gotta start charging some of these politicians with crimes."
"California better hold on tight,” he added. “They’re about to see a lot more special agents - a lot more deportation officers."

UH-OH: New Texts From Anti-Trump FBI Agents Show They Tried To Evade Rule To Archive Messages

New revelations about two anti-Trump and pro-Clinton FBI officials were revealed on Thursday as previously undisclosed text messages between the two show that they were eager to "get around" the bureau's rules for archiving and preserving text messages.
The newly-released texts between FBI agent Peter Strzok and FBI attorney Lisa Page appear to show that they were interested in getting around policies that dictated they had to preserve communications. The Washington Examiner reports:
Committee Chairman Sen. Ron Johnson, in a letter dated January 31 to Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein said, “According to text messages produced to the committee, Ms. Page and Mr. Strzok make references to communicating with other FBI employees via text message, phone call, email and voicemail. Additional text messages suggest that FBI officials used non-official email accounts and messaging programs to communicate about official business.”
Sara A. Carter reports that Strzok and Page discussed getting "new Apple iPhones, in lieu of their Samsung 5 government issued phones in text messages they exchanged in August 2016. They noted in the texts that the new phones would help keep their text messages from government collection after speaking with the FBI’s IT director." Here are some of the new texts between Strzok and Page:
Strzok: “Hot damn. I’m happy to pilot that…we get around our security/monitoring issues?”
Page: “No, he’s proposing that we just stop following them. Apparently, the requirement to capture texts came from omb, but we’re the only org (I’m told) who is following that rule. His point is, if no one else is doing it why should we.”
Page: Helps that Dd had a terrible time with his phone [redacted] which made him concerned for our folks all over the place.
Page: These phones suck as much as they do because of the program we use to capture texts, full stop.
Strzok: No doubt.
Strzok: I’m not convinced short of OPR, that text capture capability really deters anything.
Strzok: If I want to copy/take classified, I’m sure as hell not going to do it on this phone.
Previously released text messages showed that Strzok and Page discussed an "insurance policy" in case Trump won the election as they communicated their clear hatred of the Republican nominee to each other through dozens of texts.

Why Would Pelosi Be So Negative About Getting Out The Memo? Political?

Pelosi Calls Nunes The President’s Stooge

Nancy Pelosi, the House Minority Leader was just interviewed on the CNN where she spoke about the recent decision to make public the private memo which exposes major FBI bias. Pelosi called Representative Devin Nunes a “stooge of the White House” and a vital part of the so-called “cover-up” the Republicans are involved in.
Pelosi stated, “I’m very proud of Adam Schiff and our House Democrats for protecting the integrity of the intelligence community. This is a very big honor that the leader gives to the ranking member, that the speaker gives to the chairman, to be deputized, to protect the intelligence. Intelligence for force protection of our troops, for fighting terrorism and the rest of that. Instead, Chairman Nunes has acted like a stooge with the speaker. A stooge of the White House, at the acquiescence, or maybe the guidance, of the Speaker of the House. This is not about one thing or another. This is about the integrity and the safety of our national security.”
She continued by claiming, “They have crossed from dangerously and recklessly dealing with intelligence to a cover-up of an investigation that they don’t want the American people to see come to fruition, and that is most unfortunate. Now, I have probably longer standing than anybody in the history of the Congress on intelligence. I’ve served there as a member. I was a ranking member in my time there, and then in the leadership as a member of the Gang of Eight. So I’ve had access to all of the intelligence, which Mr. Nunes could have access to, but has not.”
“I’ve seen it. I’ve seen not only the memo and the basis for the memo, but the underlying documents. What they’re putting forth is totally false. And they’re putting it out there as if it is factual and then saying, we’re going to show this to the American people, but we’re not going to show the rebuttal to it by the Democrats. Now, the Democrats have said rightfully. We shouldn’t be putting anything out unless it has been reviewed and redacted by intelligence.”
