Flexing unearned influence has exposed the thirst for control of their citizens.
In Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf caught a whiff of his constituents working up the desire to step out and start living their lives once again. The idea of citizens exerting their freedoms and basking in the normalcy of liberty was too much for him to stand. On Monday he sent out a tweet storm, delivering a series of firm commands of how he intends to clamp down on those who might dare get the idea of doing things.
‘’Today I am announcing consequences for counties that do not abide by the law to remain closed,’’ said the Wolf cub in his opening salvo, the concept of federalism trickling down to the local level becoming an insult to him. He threatened to cut off non-compliant counties from federal relief aid if they dared defy his executive order and grant the voters the choice to decide for their own lives and livelihoods. He then extended his punitive promises further.
He went on to threaten businesses that might open in defiance of his iron-fisted decree, telling them they could be cited, they might see their liability insurance threatened, and bars and restaurants might end up with their liquor licenses revoked. As threats go, Wolf could see this becoming a rather neutered one; if an establishment is facing foreclosure all together then running the risk of the governor’s tantrum-like wrath could be one worth taking.
This governor, as we know, is hardly alone, as the petulant Pennsylvania tyrant is part of a widespread mob of Democratic governors who have been intoxicated by the sudden discovery of power they can impose on the citizenry. Wolf does this with the comfort of no reprisals, as he is in the final stretch of a term limit regime -- he is operating comfortably with a lame-duck Napoleanic complex. Others, however, may have a reckoning ahead, and the wider Democratic party repercussions could be felt later this year.
In Michigan, Gretchen Whitmer has attempted to parlay her oppressive dictates into becoming a vice-presidential contender. She has gone so far as to extend her stay-at-home orders another month in a state with mounting anger towards being kept from their businesses, with a legislature fighting back at her power grab. Whitmer, like so many of her Democrat demagogues, is freely imposing rules which have no bearing on public safety.
Gretchen has been bolstered by a fawning press corps, operating under the belief that her tactics are warmly received. She initially was combative with President Trump over relief aid supposedly denied to her state only to have it revealed that her office had failed to fill out the basic paperwork to apply for FEMA aid. She has forced most businesses closed, and even went so far as to mandate that those stores remaining open had to limit what items were available for sale. The locals are becoming fed up.
Protests have been staged at the state capitol already, and the pushback in her state is growing. She thinks that it is a strong move to go after a local business that is defying her executive order, but the local law enforcement divisions are resisting the command to shut him down. It has not occurred to Whitmer that in a state where the people want to return to life, the optics of her bringing the force of government down on a 77-year-old barber are not a good look for her. A judge also thought so, overruling the governor’s order to close his shop down.
Her neighbor Wisconsin is also seeing legal opposition to an oppressive governor. Governor Tony Evers saw himself getting swatted on the snout by the state Supreme Court when it ruled that his extension of the stay-at-home order for another month needed to be overturned. Evers was full of hysterical bromides as a result, proclaiming everything was being thrown into ‘’chaos’’, and declaring of his state - ‘’It’s the wild west’’. His summation at the power that was stripped from him was that ‘’It’s a bad day for Wisconsin’’, but the citizens seemed to disagree. Within hours of the ruling bars and restaurants were flung open, and they saw themselves packed with residents.
Other states have had a tougher go of it with dictatorial leaders. Maine Gov. Janet Mills stripped the business license of a restaurant that defied her order to keep businesses closed -- until June. In Colorado Gov. Jared Polis came down on the restaurant that dared to open on Mother’s Day, to national attention, closing it down in the name of science. In every case, the establishments opened to packed crowds, filled with people willing to be in these businesses while these Democrats invoked death and doom as a promised result. To get a real feel of the tide shifting we only need to look to the west.
In California, where cowing to idiotic political mandates is considered good manners, even there we are seeing a fed-up citizenry. Beach closures have been met with protesting crowds, and skateboard parks that were moronically filled in with sand were converted into dirt bike tracks by the area youths. And more than a small shop owner, automaker Elon Musk has come out and defied the business closure, all but daring the authorities to come and arrest him. Instead, they backed off.
These Democrats resorted to the short-sightedness of their temporary power grabs. They could exert their influence and peacock around with inflated importance as the press was busy castigating GOP leaders who took less authoritarian approaches. The risk they do not see is that more than a bothered constituency inside their state borders is the result. Tens of millions are out of work, unknown millions more are under varying degrees of duress, and most are eager to move forward with our lives once again.
Those frustrated by this crisis are made more so by these political opportunists, and it is something of a revelation. It has been a common refrain that this shutdown and its removal of liberties by the government has opened the eyes of many to the negative impact of too much government. Now factor in that those newly skeptical minds are seeing this overreach consistently from the same party, it will register in their minds come November.

Michelle Obama Is Delusional--Kids Ruined Her Life

With Mother's Day Coming, Michelle Obama Reveals Her Feelings About Motherhood: Cost Her 'Aspirations and Dreams'

Happy Mothers Day: Michelle Obama Just Revealed Her Seriously Disturbing Thoughts on Being a Mom

It is astounding how members of the Democratic Party openly discuss the miracle of giving birth as if it were a disease.
For many Democrats, the overwhelming joy that the majority of expectant mothers feel is reduced to a clump of cells and a roadblock to “greater” aspirations.
In her Netflix special “Becoming,” former first lady Michelle Obama described the birth of her own children, Sasha and Malia, as a “concession” she made that came at the expense of her “aspirations and dreams,” Breitbart reported.
“My relationship with Barack was all about our equal partnership,” she said in the documentary.
“If I was going to have a unique voice with this very opinionated man, I had to get myself up and set myself off to a place where I was going to be his equal.”

But it was the birth of the couple’s children that put a wrench in Michelle’s plans and changed their marriage.
“The thing that really changed it was the birth of our children. I wasn’t really ready for that. That really made it harder,” she said. “Something had to give and it was my aspirations and dreams.”
“I made that concession not because he said ‘you have to quit your job,’ but it felt like ‘I can’t do all of this so I have to tone down my aspirations, I have to dial it back,’ the former first lady added.
Imagine being Sasha and Malia Obama — two accomplished, beautiful young ladies who just learned that they ruined their mother’s life.
Do you think the Democratic position on pregnancy is abhorrent?

Imagine the pain of hearing those words, to know that your life was a “concession” that caused your mother to “tone down” her aspirations.
It is an abhorrent way to describe the birth of your children, but it is unfortunately par for the course for Democrats who view pregnancy as some kind of disease.
Take actress Michelle Williams, who described with glee her decision to have an abortion because she believes the murder of her baby helped advance her career.
The actress, who has a 14-year-old daughter, stood on the stage at the Golden Globes in January with a pregnant baby bump and extolled the virtues of abortion.
“I wouldn’t have been able to do this without employing a woman’s right to choose, to choose when to have my children and with whom,” she said.

“Now I know my choices might look different than yours, but thank God or whomever you pray to that we live in a country founded on the principle that I am free to live by my faith and you are free to live by yours,” she said.
Must be nice words for her 14-year-old and her future child to hear, much the same way it will be for the Obama kids.
The combative relationship liberals have with pregnancy is borderline psychotic. They have taken a joyous event and made it into a disease.
But considering where the Democrats stand on the issue of pregnancy and abortion, Obama’s comments are only likely to elevate her as a possible candidate for president — or vice president — in the future. And that is sad.

Watching The Lame Stream Press Twist Themselves Into A Pretzel Of Biden's Sexual Assault Is Amusing (And Sad!)

WaPo on Biden Sexual Assault Allegations: Just Look at These Pouncing Republicans
It's such a ridiculous trope that it's become a meme on the Right: When there's a negative story about Democrats, the media's go-to template is to cover Republicans and conservatives 'seizing' or 'pouncing' on it.  In the case of the sexual assault allegations against Joe Biden, the early coverage was nonexistent.  Then it shifted to stories about Democrats "grappling" with the matter, and a handful of check-the-box news accounts -- including an article that the New York Times softened at the Biden campaign's behest.  Now, with Biden still personally mum on the matter, we're finally getting treated to the 'pounce' pieces. This headline was an instant classic:

Mary Katharine Ham's reaction: "The double standard is so egregious as to be performance art at this point."  And another offering from the Post:

The former tweet is a deliberately-incomprehensible word salad, seemingly designed to avoid clarity.  The latter, along with the accompanying story, sends a signal to readers about who is hyping the allegation, so they can adjust their tribal partisan response to it.  The framing is the pouncing on the alleged pouncing, rather than the alleged pouncing itself.  May I remind you of the Washington Post's coverage of the totally unsubstantiated allegations against Brett Kavanaugh?  Mollie Hemingway has been keeping score:
The Washington Post has a problem. The newspaper led the massive effort against the nomination of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh by publishing and relentlessly hyping a completely unsubstantiated allegation of sexual assault against him. Now, the paper is leading Democrats’ efforts to bury a similar, if stronger, allegation of sexual assault against Joe Biden. To accomplish this dramatic turnabout, the paper is collectively trying to rewrite history, pretending the allegation against Kavanaugh had more basis than it did while also pretending that the allegation against Biden has less basis than it does. The Post’s anti-Kavanaugh operation had powerful divisions in both the news and opinion departments...Whether it’s Joe Biden or Brett Kavanaugh, both men deserve due process. Noting that Tara Reade at least has benefit of evidence that she has met the accused and contemporaneous corroboration of her claim makes her allegation stronger, but stronger than nothing is admittedly a low bar...[The Post] may try to rewrite history to make themselves feel better. They can dig as furiously as they want, but there is no memory hole deep enough to forget their behavior.
Click through for her full, meticulously-documented argument on the subject, about which she's an expert.  This exhaustive timeline of the media's treatment of these two cases is damning.  As I've been writing, it all speaks for itself and delivers a very clear message.  May I also remind you that the Times' silence-breaking story on Reade's allegation featured multiple paragraphs about Donald Trump, and in addition to sanitizing the original verbiage about Biden's infamous handsiness, it was presented as a comprehensive investigation of Reade's claim.  As Beth noted last evening, it has turned out to be less than comprehensive, as two Democrats have emerged to strengthen Reade's account.  See this:
Two more sources have come forward to corroborate certain details about Reade's claims. One of them — a former neighbor of Reade's — has told Insider for the first time, on the record, that Reade disclosed details about the alleged assault to her in the mid-1990s...The other source, Lorraine Sanchez, who worked with Reade in the office of a California state senator in the mid-'90s, told Insider that she recalls Reade complaining at the time that her former boss in Washington, DC, had sexually harassed her, and that she had been fired after raising concerns...LaCasse told Insider that in 1995 or 1996, Reade told her she had been assaulted by Biden. "I remember her saying, here was this person that she was working for and she idolized him," LaCasse said. "And he kind of put her up against a wall. And he put his hand up her skirt and he put his fingers inside her. She felt like she was assaulted, and she really didn't feel there was anything she could do." LaCasse said that she remembers Reade getting emotional as she told the story. "She was crying," she said. "She was upset. And the more she talked about it, the more she started crying. I remember saying that she needed to file a police report."
Ms. LaCasse says she's a strong Democrat and will still vote for Biden (proving once again that Republican voters are hardly unique in their willingness to make serious moral compromises in pursuit of political victory), but that she felt like she owed it to Reade to speak up and tell the truth anyway.  As the drip, drip, drip of contemporaneous evidence backing the account continues, members of the media are increasingly realizing that ignoring the story and wishing it away may not be possible.  Here's the reaction of one liberal writer who'd previously pondered Reade's claim through the prism of bath faith trolling, suddenly engaged in some -- shall we say -- fresh grappling:

A nightmare for whom?  Needless to say, Team Trump is not in a particularly strong position to aggressively press this issue, given the myriad accusations against the president, some of which I think are likely true (especially considering his boasting on tape about engaging in precisely the sort of behavior women described).  But this certainly throws a grenade into the character-based narrative Democrats were banking on using against Trump in the campaign, and with each passing day, it is exposing the media's undisguised partisan hackery.  Many conservatives' stance on evidence and the presumption of evidence has been consistent.  I disagree, for example, with calls for Biden to drop out of the race based on the still-insufficient case against him -- even despite what we've learned (which is far more than was ever presented against Brett Kavanaugh).  How many Democrats and media figures can say the same? \
