After Maryland's leaders revealed they had no coherent plan to curb
Baltimore's violent crime, residents surprisingly lashed out at one of the
competent law enforcement agencies in the state.

Harford County, just north of Baltimore, began identifying prisoners in
their jail who were in the United States illegally 13 months ago with dramatic
results.

Cross-referencing those records with existing illegal immigrant criminal
profiles has enabled the Harford County Sheriff's department to identify
some members of the ultraviolent criminal gang, MS-13 (RELATED:

In deep blue Maryland, many citizens voiced concern that these tactics
to fight crime could create a rift between police and their communities.

Neighborhoods where CASA’s director Elizabeth Alex warned that

programs like this could breed mistrust in the police.

“There’s sort of this extra fear that immigrants will go further into the

shadows and not participate,” Alex said back when the program launched.

Sheriff Sahler says if you don’t break the law, there’s nothing to worry about.

“As sheriff, I don’t want to return criminals to our community to further

victimize the citizens of Harford County,” he said.

We should note that in the last six months Baltimore tried and failed on
three separate occasions to go 48 hours without a homicide. The city's
most recent "Nobody Kill Anybody" weekend ended after a mere
45 minutes. Moreover, up to 2,000 MS-13 associates could be lurking
in the Washington-Baltimore urban corridor, inflating drug-related crime,
illegal gun trafficking, and murder rates.
