Ocasio-Cortez Flunks Yet Again
History sure is hard. There are so many people who have been around and so many things have happened! Unfortunately for Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez knowing about history, specifically in regards to U.S. politics, is part of her job. A part that she fails miserably at.
The congresswoman’s latest gaff came during a town hall event where she erroneously claimed Republicans made term limits specifically to thwart the re-election of former President Franklin Delano Roosevelt.
“They had to amend the Constitution of the United States to make sure Roosevelt did not get reelected,” Ocasio-Cortez stated.
Unfortunately for AOC that’s far from true. FDR died while still in office in 1945, where as the 22nd Amendment wasn’t passed until two years later in 1947.
Twitter has erupted with historians calling out AOC for her failed historical knowledge once again. But Rudy Giuliani, lawyer to President Trump, is also pointing out how the media has failed to take Ocasio-Cortez to task for her constant lack of historical understanding.
AOC said: “They had to amend the Constitution...to make sure Roosevelt didn’t get re-elected.” Again she seems clueless. And of course a fawning media will not really cover it. Death not the the 22nd Amendment prevent FDR from running. The Amendment passed after FDR died.
