Psych Professor Says Trump is Mentally Ill, Then Her Records Surface

Diagnosing patients from afar is a pretty tricky business, and one ought to be awfully sure before offering a diagnosis to anyone — especially if the patient is the president, the disease is mental illness, and you’re offering the diagnosis to the general public.

That didn’t stop Bandy Lee, a Yale University psychology professor, from being one of the loudest voices insisting that the president was some sort of narcissistic sociopath with a “mental impairment” who represents a danger to himself and America at large.

Lee is best known as one of 25 mental health professionals who contributed to a book titled — with no small degree of ominousness — “The Dangerous Case of Donald Trump.”

The American Psychiatric Association called the work “tawdry, indulgent, fatuous, tabloid psychiatry” and accused the authors of shirking the Goldwater Rule — a 1973 APA dictum which prohibits mental health professionals from publicly diagnosing individuals they haven’t personally examined. (Perhaps unsurprisingly, the rule was named after another GOP presidential candidate who many psychiatrists publicly declared was unfit to hold office.)

Lee continued to defend the book, co-authoring a Politico piece in which it was stated that “(w)ithout diagnosing Trump in a specific way, as the Goldwater rule prohibits, it is not only acceptable but vitally necessary to have a public conversation about mental state of our nation’s leader.”

However, it turns out her analysis and/or diagnosis of Trump was missing something: namely, the professional qualifications to actually do so.

According to a piece published earlier this week by Campus Reform, records show that Lee’s physician/surgeon license — necessary to practice psychiatry — lapsed in Connecticut in 2015. Meanwhile, her “controlled substance registration for practitioner” license lapsed in February 2017.

A renewal on both have been pending since then.

When asked about the discrepancy, Lee told Campus Reform that “I need only one license,” although she didn’t specify which license that was or whether she currently had it.

Lee has also deleted her Twitter account, clearly a sign absolutely nothing is up and everything is kosher with her license after all.

Meanwhile, while not mentioning Lee and her cohort by name, the APA seemed to have them in mind in a recent statement they issued regarding the Goldwater Rule.

“We at the APA call for an end to psychiatrists providing professional opinions in the media about public figures whom they have not examined, whether it be on cable news appearances, books, or in social media,” the statement read, according to the Washington Examiner.

“Arm-chair psychiatry or the use of psychiatry as a political tool is the misuse of psychiatry and is unacceptable and unethical.”

Well, at least Ms. Lee doesn’t have to worry about that. After all, if the records of the state of Connecticut are any indication, she’s not even a psychiatrist at the moment.

The college student who took video of a human sexuality instructor telling a class that Republican President Donald Trump’s election was an “act of terrorism” got suspended from the California school for one semester.

Caleb O’Neil also must meet with the dean of students of Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa before he’s readmitted and then remain on disciplinary probation for a semester, Campus Reform reported.

In addition, he must write an apology letter to the instructor — Olga Perez Stable-Cox — and a three-page, double-spaced essay on why he recorded the video despite “knowing that it was a violation of the course syllabus” as well as his “thoughts and analysis” regarding why he made it public, among other stipulations, Campus Reform added, citing a disciplinary email.

If O’Neil fails to meet any of the disciplinary requirements, he could be expelled from the Coast Community College District permanently, the outlet noted.

“Unauthorized recording is a serious violation of the Student Code of Conduct,” Interim Dean of Students Victoria Lugo wrote, Campus Reform said. “This is clearly stated in the instructor’s course syllabus in addition to the student code of conduct. When we spoke, you stated that you felt badly about the things that had happened to individuals as a result of this incident. It is my hope that this experience will lead you to truly think through your actions and the consequences of those actions when making decisions in the future. As we discussed, the conduct process is part of the overall college learning process and I do believe that valuable lessons have been gained from this experience.”

Bill Becker, founder and president of FreedomX — a law firm that specializes in defending conservative and religious freedom — is representing O’Neil and told Campus Reform that his suspension is “an attack by leftists” and that an appeal will be filed.

“He was in fear of retaliation by his instructor after she launched into a half-hour rant in which she labeled Trump a ‘white supremacist’ and told the class she would no longer tolerate any person who voted for Trump,” Becker wrote to the outlet. “O’Neil videotaped the rant over concerns that his grade might be lowered for the class because of his outward show of support for Trump. He intended to use the video to present to the administration as evidence of his concerns.”

Cox — who also called then Vice President-elect Mike Pence “one of the most anti-gay humans in this country” in the video — told her class that “we are in for a difficult time.”

“Our nation is divided, we have been assaulted, it’s an act of terrorism,” Cox said in the video. “One of the most frightening things for me and most people in my life is that the people creating the assault are among us.”

Later a pair of students claimed Cox told Trump supporters in the class to stand during the lecture, which they said was intimidating.

But Rob Schneiderman, president of the Coast Federation of Educators/American Federation of Teachers Local 1911, told the Orange County Register that after Cox said some would be happy with the election results — and a student stood up in approval — Cox then invited others to stand as well if they wanted.

After the video went public, Cox reportedly received death threats and temporarily left California.

Several professors at the University of New Hampshire are calling for the expulsion of two counter-protesters at an anti-Trump rally on campus.

Courtney Marshall, a former professor at UNH, posted a picture of the counter protesters on Facebook the day after the incident.

Yes, those are Harambe and Richard Nixon costumes.

Several current UNH professors have responded to Marshall’s post calling for action against the two students.

One of those professors is Siobhan Senier, who specializes in American and Native American literature as well as women’s studies.

In Senyeah’s message, the professor insists that the Harambe costume “is harassing, intimidating, and racist.”

Senyeah also urges UNH administration “not to take refuge behind the kind of bland ‘we’re-all-in-this-together’ line that is currently so prevalent in public discourse.”

Huh? So wait, is UNH not supposed to allow conservatives to counter-protest?

Another English lecturer by the name of Larry Beemer also apparently commented on the post, referring to the counter-protesters as “racist agitators.”

A screenshot from Campus Reform shows Larry Beemer’s name clearly attributed to the comment in question.

However, it appears Beemer has changed his name on Facebook to Winston Smith.

The comment is still there – original replies and all – attributed to Smith, which is the name of the protagonist in George Orwell’s dystopian novel 1984.

Pictures on “Winston Smith’s” Facebook profile also match the one featured on his UNH profile.

A third UNH professor by the name of Meaghan Elliott also commented on Marshall’s post saying she’d love to see the counter-protesters punished.

The truth is, though, if the folks at UNH responsible for the original anti-Trump rally have any luck, administrators won’t look too closely at this case.

You see, while professors at the school cry foul over two peaceful counter-protesters, some investigators have done a bit of digging and found out that the folks behind the rally apparently broke some laws while organizing it.

Kevin Landrigan, the New Hampshire Union Leader, has criticized staff at the UNH Women’s Studies Program for Facebook posts that clearly show tax funds being allocated towards making signs for the event.

The posts have since been deleted, but Landrigan reports them as having said, “Our office will be open til [sic] 4:30 p.m. today so please stop on by and make your own poster. If you want to make signs but need supplies, feel free to stop in to Huddleston 203 for paper/markers etc.”

What’s more, an email from WikiLeaks shows a UNH higher-up contacting John Podesta himself asking how he might be “helpful” from his “perch in New Hampshire.”

In the email, Michael Ettlinger – the higher-up in question – proposes several workarounds to that pesky law that states, “no recipient of a grant or appropriation of state funds may use the state funds to… participate in political activity, or contribute funds to any entity engaged in these activities.”

Yeah, but let’s focus on the peaceful protesters in funny costumes, right?

A popular professor at the University of Missouri turned in his resignation Wednesday after igniting controversy when he refused to cancel class for students who claimed to feel unsafe visiting campus.

Dale Brigham, an associate professor of nutrition and exercise physiology, wrote in an email to his students that a previously scheduled exam would be held as planned.

“If you don’t feel safe coming to class, then don’t come to class,” Brigham wrote his students in an emailobtained by Campus Reform. “I will be there, and there will be an exam administered in our class,” he continued, imploring his students to stand up to the bullies on campus. “If you give into bullies, they win. The only way bullies are defeated is by standing up to them.”

Many students have said they don’t feel safe visiting campus as racial tension increases following the resignation of the university president.

After sending the message to his students, Brigham faced intense backlash on social media. Students hurled insults at him while others called for him to be fired.

Facing pressure, Brigham sent a followup email to students notifying them that the exam had been canceled and he would resign his position.

A group of university professors has signed a letter showing their solidarity with students who tried to ban the American flag at the University of California, Irvine – because they said Old Glory contributes to racism.

A group of Californian lawmakers is working on a bill that that would prohibit publicly funded universities from banning the American flag.

“U.S. nationalism often contributes to racism and xenophobia, and that the paraphernalia of nationalism is in fact often used to intimidate,” read a letter obtained by the website Campus Reform.

Hundreds across the nation have signed the letter – including some U.C. Irvine professors, Campus Reform reported. 

"We admire the courage of the resolution's supporters amid this environment of political immaturity and threat, and support them unequivocally" the letter stated.

How those professors can sleep at night knowing their salaries are paid for by a bunch of xenophobic racists is beyond me.

On March 3 the U.C. Irvine student government association voted 6-4-2 to remove Old Glory from a campus lobby for the sake of cultural inclusivity. 

The un-American knuckleheads blathered on about how "the American flag has been flown in instances of colonialism and imperialism."

Breitbart quoted an unnamed student who said the student government association feared the flag might hurt the feelings of illegal aliens. 

“There were people who were like, ‘the flag triggers me’ – that was their exact wording, too,” the student said.

Over the weekend, the executive leadership of student government met and vetoed the legislation and by Monday the flag was once again posted in the campus lobby.

“Our campus is patriotic and proud,” student government President Reza Zomorrodian told me. “We did something right for our campus.”

A March 10^th legislative meeting to discuss the controversy was canceled after the university received a “viable threat of violence.”

While the threat was not specific, university officials said they were taking the threat seriously and urged students to be diligent.

“Regardless of your opinion on the display of the American flag, we must be united in protecting the people who make this university a premier institution of higher learning,” Chancellor Howard Gillman wrote in a statement posted on the university’s website.

Meanwhile, a group of Californian lawmakers is working on a bill that that would prohibit publicly funded universities from banning the American flag.

Here's how it should work: you ban the flag -- we ban your student loans. 

I'm old school. Where I come from, you salute Old Glory, you don't toss it in a closet. You don't ban it.
