Water guns, last I checked, are pretty cheap. However, for one Dallas teacher, using one could be the most expensive mistake she’s ever made.

The Dallas Morning News reported that Payal Modi, a teacher with the Dallas Independent School District, has been placed on administrative leave after she posted video of herself shooting a water gun at a projected image of President Donald Trump

The eight-second video was posted on  Jan. 20, the date of Trump’s inauguration. It showed Modi, an art teacher at W.H. Adamson High School, inside a classroom firing at a white board with the visage of the new president on it.

While laughs could be heard in the background of the video, it was unclear whether students were present or it was other school employees. Here’s the footage:

Unconfirmed reports — mostly made up by me — say that Modi originally intended to use a Super Soaker. However, as a liberal, she believed nobody really needs a water gun that powerful.

According to The Washington Times, Modi originally posted the video on her Instagram account with the caption, “Watching the #inauguration in my classroom like…. #no #stop #denial #squirtgun #hypocrisy #powerless.”

It didn’t take long for the denizens of social media, agog at what seems to be a mock assassination against the new president by a public school teacher inside a classroom, to quickly track Modi down.

For her part, Modi deleted the post and made her account private — a tactic which, as countless previous examples have shown, works flawlessly every time.

“Today, we were made aware of a social media posting being circulated involving a teacher at W.H. Adamson High School,” the Dallas Independent School District said in a statement. “The teacher has been placed on administrative leave and the district has opened an investigation. This is a personnel matter and, as such, we cannot comment.”

Ah well. Cheer up, Ms. Modi. With any luck, Trump’s inauguration will only be the second-most traumatic thing in your life to come out of the events of Jan. 20.

Eyman Mohamed, the 17-year-old sister of Ahmed Mohamed, told the Daily Beast Sept. 17, 2015, that she, too, was suspended from school for a “bomb”-related accusation.

The 17-year-old sister of Muslim “clock boy” Ahmed Mohamed says she too was suspended from school due to a “bomb”-related accusation.

Eyman Mohamed told the Daily Beast during a day-long interview with the family Sept. 17 about an incident where she was accused of wanting to blow up her school.

“I got suspended from school for three days from this stupid same district, from this girl saying I wanted to blow up the school, something I had nothing to do with,” Mohamed told the Daily Beast. “I got suspended and I didn’t do anything about it. And so, when I heard about Ahmed, I was so mad because it happened to me and I didn’t get to stand up, so I’m making sure he’s standing up because it’s not right. So I’m not jealous. I’m kinda like – it’s like he’s standing for me.”

The young girl said her suspension did not take place at MacArthur High School in Irving, Texas. Instead, her punishment came during her first year of middle school when the family moved to the state from New York City.

“I knew English, but the culture was different, the people were different,” Mohamed told the Daily Beast.

The 17-year-old’s claim continues a string of strange developments surrounding the Sept. 14 detention of her 14-year-old brother when a clock he “invented” was suspected of being a bomb.

NBA owner Mark Cuban of the Dallas Mavericks told HBO “Real Time” host Bill Maher last Friday he spoke to Ahmed on the phone but was puzzled as to why his sister kept trying to feed him answers.

“We talked about science, but while I’m talking to him on the phone, as I ask him a question, ‘Tell me what happened because I’m curious.’ Right? His sister, over his shoulder, you could hear, listening to the question, giving him the answer,” Cuban said, the Dallas Morning News reported Wednesday.

Electronics expert Thomas Talbot also posted a video Sept. 18 on the fraudulent nature of Mohamed’s so-called “invention,” arguing that the device was not an invention at all.

Talbot said the boy appears to have simply ripped out existing components from a standard digital alarm clock. After removing the plastic cover, he said, Mohamed attached the internal components to the inside of a suitcase, WND reported.

“This child, nothing against him personally, never built a clock,” said Talbot, WND reported. “He did not invent a clock or build it, and I’m going to show you why. … What this is is a commercial alarm clock, as you would purchase in any department store and use at your bedside. All he did was remove the plastic case from the alarm clock. This is not an invention. This is not something that someone built or even assembled.”

Mohamed’s ordeal prompted President Obama to invite the teenager to the White House.

“Cool clock, Ahmed. Want to bring it to the White House? We should inspire more kids like you to like science. It’s what makes America great,” tweeted Obama Sept. 16.

Mohamed’s family now plans to meet dignitaries at the United Nations. After they visit Mecca in Saudi Arabia, they plan to meet with Obama.

Obama’s hasty entrance into the story has frustrated officials, most notably Irving, Texas, Mayor Beth Van Duyne.

Van Duyne said Sept. 22 the family of Ahmed Mohammed has refused to meet with city officials or release records exonerating police conduct, Pamela Geller, founder of the American Freedom Defense Initiative, or AFDI, said Wednesday on her website.

“As a juvenile, they can not release those records. The school district, a number of times, has asked the family, to release the records, so that you can have the balanced story out there. The family is ignoring the request from the ISD,” Van Duyne said while appear on Glenn Beck’s The Blaze TV on Tuesday, Townhall.com reported. “Nobody is going to walk in and say, ‘Oh you’re a 14-year old child, you’re totally cooperating, we have all the answers we need, let’s arrest you.”

The family reportedly hired lawyers to retrieve the clock from police. Hours after that announcement, police said the clock was ready to be picked up.

The Irving, Texas, Police Department has no plans to further investigate the sensational case of Muslim “clock boy” Ahmed Mohamed, despite questions being raised about whether the teenager personally built his suspicious-looking clock, an Irving police source told WND.

Questions also have been raised about the background of Eyman Mohamed, Ahmed’s 17-year-old sister, who told the Daily Beast during a day-long interview with the family that she was still upset about an incident in which she was suspended from school after being accused by another student of wanting to blow up the building.

Eyman has been running Ahmed’s social media campaign, which characterizes him as a victim of anti-Muslim stereotyping.

A statement by Irving police pointed out that under Texas law, “a person is guilty of possessing a hoax bomb if he possesses a device that is intended to cause anyone to be alarmed or a reaction of any type by law enforcement officers.”

The Irving Police Department officially closed the case and instructed employees not to comment to the media beyond information already released.

However, WND spoke to a source inside the Irving Police Department who said detectives were aware of the Internet reports alleging the boy didn’t construct a clock of his own invention.

Still, the source said the clock will not be re-checked and that the family was notified last week, ahead of those reports, that Ahmed’s device was available to be picked up.

The source expressed puzzlement at news reports saying the family hired lawyers to retrieve the clock from police.

The source said the police department is still waiting for the family to pick up Ahmed’s property.

The source further said there is a lot of misinformation circulating in the media about the case, but he declined to be more specific.

The source said the Irving police have more information that has not yet made public, but those details will be released in the coming days.

The source maintained detectives have no plans to re-open the case.

In a twist in the case, Eyman Mohamed described her own ordeal involving a fake bomb threat at another school.

“I got suspended from school for three days from this stupid same district, from this girl saying I wanted to blow up the school, something I had nothing to do with,” Mohamed told the Daily Beast. “I got suspended and I didn’t do anything about it. And so, when I heard about Ahmed, I was so mad because it happened to me and I didn’t get to stand up, so I’m making sure he’s standing up because it’s not right. So I’m not jealous. I’m kinda like – it’s like he’s standing for me.”

The young girl said her suspension did not take place at MacArthur High School in Irving. Instead, her punishment came during her first year of middle school when the family moved to Texas from New York City.

Thousands of illegal juvenile immigrants from Central America do not show up for their deportation hearings across the country, the Justice Department estimates, the Dallas Morning News reported.

Eighteen out of 20 unaccompanied migrant children from Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador failed to turn up for their immigration hearing in Dallas one day this week, the newspaper said.



Juan Osuna, who heads the Justice Department’s immigration courts, told a congressional committee recently that, on average, 46 percent of juvenile migrants miss their immigration court hearings, according to the Morning News.

Homeland Security has estimated that 100,000 juveniles have entered the U.S. illegally without a parent in the last two fiscal years, which would mean that 46,000 of them were or will be no-shows at deportation hearings.

The 90 percent absentee rate in the Dallas courtroom alarmed federal Immigration Judge Michael Baird, who said it was "highly unusual." He set a new date, Aug. 11, for the 18 missing juveniles to show up or he’ll issue deportation orders, the Morning News reported.

Baird expressed concerned that the children may not have properly been informed of the hearings by immigration authorities, while Homeland Security attorney Lynn Javier said it was "prudent" to set a new date for the hearings, according to the newspaper.

The extent of the no-shows led to suggestions that the children and their families had deliberately missed the court dates and had absconded, the Morning News said.

None of the 18 children due to appear in the Dallas court were represented by attorneys in their absence, while the two juveniles who did show up also didn’t have lawyers.

The research organization Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse has estimated that nine out of 10 unaccompanied juveniles who do not have attorneys will be deported, said the Morning News.

The minors typically ask for asylum during the hearings, claiming they fled gang violence back in their countries, but their allegations are hard to prove and are often unsuccessful.

The Executive Office of Immigration Review, which faces a backlog of 375,000 cases, was recently ordered to make the hearings of migrant minors their first priority, the Morning News reported.
