Maher: ‘Scary’ That Things Have Changed From ‘Listen’ To Women Who Say They Were Wronged ‘To Automatically Believe’
On Friday’s broadcast of HBO’s “Real Time,” host Bill Maher stated that it is worrisome that standards on claims of sexual misconduct seem to have changed from the right position of “listen to any woman who says she’s been wronged,” into “automatically believe.”
Maher stated, “I do think that when Trump said, ‘It’s a very scary time for young men,’ yes, let’s get out the world’s smallest violin. But…it does seem like things have morphed from, listen to any woman who says she’s been wronged, which is the right thing to do, to automatically believe. That’s what’s scary.”
HBO’s Bill Maher spoke about the issue caused by his previous comments that insisted a recession would be worth it if it undermined Trump’s popularity. He stated his critics should “take a course in perspective.” Adding, “A recession is a survivable event, what Trump is doing to this country is not.”
Maher stated, “[A]nyone who went apeshit in the last two weeks because I said going through a recession would be worth it if it undermined Trump’s popularity has to enroll in college and take a course in perspective. A recession is a survivable event, what Trump is doing to this country is not. Democracy is about to go the way of the dinosaurs because we’ve been taken over by a dodo bird.”
“Another recession is coming, not because I’m rooting for it, because someone passed a giant tax giveaway to the rich that added trillions to the debt and started a trade war for no reason and deliberately sabotaged the Affordable Care Act and rolled back the rules for banks so they can once again gamble with our money. Those are actual policies, from men with real power, as opposed to me, who just made a wish.”
Screeching MSNBC hostess Rachel Maddow was livid after word emerged last week that President Trump will meet one-on-one in May with North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un in an effort to get the rogue nation to drop its nuclear weapons program.
"You might think another president in this circumstance, you can imagine a president asking himself or herself, 'Why has no other American president ever agreed to do this?'" Maddow said on her show. "Why has no sitting American president ever met with a leader from North Korea? Why has that never happened in all the decades North Korea existed as a nation? Should I take that to mean that this might be particularly risky or even an unwise move?”
Of course, Maddow didn't mention that Democrats and liberals were all for such a move when Barack Obama was president. Asked in a 2007 presidential debate if he would "be willing to meet separately, without precondition," with leaders from nations like Iran and North Korea, The Chosen One said, "I would. And the reason is this, that the notion that somehow not talking to countries is punishment to them — which has been the guiding diplomatic principle of this administration — is ridiculous."
But Obama never met with the North Korean leader and Kim grew ever more belligerent as Obama sought simply to appease him. Trump, meanwhile, has hammered the dictator, calling him "Little Rocket Man," and setting up highly-punitive sanctions that have hurt the nation.
Bill Maher, a true Trump hater who, it must be noted, every rare once in a while makes a decent point, ripped the liberal media's reaction to Trump's plan. In his HBO show Friday night, he slammed the MSM for "reflexively hating on this."
"I was watching all the cable news last night. All these liberals who are reflexively hating on this, A) Obama — remember him? — proposed the exact same thing in 2008 and they loved it," he said on "Real Time." Maher said people on the West Coast have a little more at stake than the liberal elite on the East Coast. "And B), f*** you, you don't live here on the West Coast where a nuke can get here faster than an Uber from North Korea."
"I mean what is this bulls***? 'No president has ever done this,' " Maher continued. "Yeah, and they all failed! So I'm going to file this one under, 'So crazy it just might work.' This could be the one thing that Trump is uniquely qualified to pull off."
Maher said the meeting could well be the result of Trump's tough talk and sanctions. "If you hate Trump so much — I do — this might even be happening because of Donald Trump. Because of his tough talk. It could be because of the sanctions. It could have been because of the Olympics," he said, referring to Trump's support for North Korea joining South Korea for the games.
And Maher said, "Another stupid argument I heard on TV last night, 'Well, we'll just be giving Kim the respect he and his family has always craved.' So what?! So what if it works?!"

Political satirist Bill Maher has been criticized for making an incest joke about Ivanka Trump and her father on his show.
While on his HBO program Real Time with New York magazine reporter Gabriel Sherman on Friday night, the 61-year-old made the incest joke about first daughter Ivanka Trump's relationship with her father President Donald Trump.
He said: 'What do you make of Ivanka and her efforts to sort of humanize her father?
'We see all this misogyny at Fox News, we see it in Donald Trump himself. A lot of us thought, Ivanka is gonna be our saving grace.'
The political commentator then took it a step further and mimicked Ivanka performing a sex act on her father.
'When he's about to nuke Finland or something, she's gonna walk into the bedroom and—"Daddy, Daddy…'Don't do it, Daddy,"' said Maher.
'Is that how you see Ivanka?' Maher asked Sherman who, red faced, replied: 'No.'

This isn't the first time Maher has told an incest joke about Ivanka and Donald.
On November 2, the comedian performed a stand-up set at the Los Angeles Largo comedy club on Facebook Live where he cracked a joke many found as inappropriate.

Conservative firebrand Ann Coulter found an unlikely ally in Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) over the weekend when the self-described democratic-socialist defended Coulter’s right to speak on a college campus.
“Given currently active security threats, it is not possible to assure that the event could be held successfully — or that the safety of Ms. Coulter, the event sponsors, audience, and bystanders could be adequately protected — at any of the campus venues,” university officials said.
But Sanders doesn’t believe that what happened to Coulter is right. The former presidential candidate said Coulter should be allowed to speak on campus without “fear of violence or intimidation.”
“Obviously, Ann Coulter’s outrageous ― to my mind, off the wall. But you know, people have a right to give their two cents-worth, give a speech, without fear of violence and intimidation,” he explained.
In recent years, students, mostly liberal and progressive in their politics and worldview, have organized in force to protest conservative speakers claiming that their “hate speech” shouldn’t be allowed on campus. Of course, the hate speech they refer to is hardly hateful and more often than not just an idea or opinion that the students disagree with.
Still, students have been determined to take whatever steps necessary to shut down speakers they disagree with and whom they deem bring “hate” to their campus. It’s all in the name of silencing “fascists,” the students claim.

But Sanders disagrees. He told the Huffington Post that it’s just a sign the students are intellectual lightweights.
“To me, it’s a sign of intellectual weakness,” he said. “If you can’t ask Ann Coulter in a polite way questions which expose the weakness of her arguments, if all you can do is boo, or shut her down, or prevent her from coming, what does that tell the world?”
“What are you afraid of — her ideas? Ask her the hard questions. Confront her intellectually,” Sanders said. “Booing people down, or intimidating people, or shutting down events, I don’t think that that works in any way.”
Sanders isn’t the only noted liberal to come to Coulter’s defense in recent days. HBO “Real Time” host Bill Maher slammed the university on his show Friday and labeled the students “f***ing babies.”
“Berkeley used to be the cradle of free speech, and now it’s just the cradle for f***ing babies,” Maher said. “I feel like this is the liberal version of book burning — and it’s got to stop.”
