This Is Intolerance On Display And Is A Threat To Jurisprudence In The US

The Family Research Council is warning of an effort by progressives to deprive conservatives of their legal representation.
The LGBT Bar Association is running a petition called “Commit 2 Including” that urges the legal community not to collaborate with conservative groups such as the Alliance Defending Freedom and Liberty Counsel, which have obtained major religious-rights victories in the U.S. Supreme Court.
“First, LGBT activists wanted conservatives out of the wedding business. Then came professional sports, the restaurant industry, big tech, teaching, broadcasting, the police force, fire department, local government, the Olympics, military, counseling, adoption and foster care. What’s left? According to one extremist group, the law,” says the latest Tony Perkins’ Washington Update, which is written by FRC’s senior writers.
“The legal profession has already seen its share of bullying from LGBT extremists. In at least four states, judges have been threatened, suspended, or otherwise punished for their marriage views. In two states, they’ve been professionally disciplined. Of course, there’s been an effort to shun lawyers who express any sort of support for natural marriage for years,” it continued.
FRC said the LGBT Bar Association is hoping to persuade the legal community that mainstream organizations such as Liberty Counsel and Alliance Defending Freedom are waging “a systematic, insidious, and well-funded crusade to strip protections from LGBT people.”
The petition urges like-minded activists to “refuse to collaborate” with conservative organizations.
LGBT Bar Executive Director D’Arcy Kemnitz argues, “When you help anti-LGBT legal groups even on matters not relating to LGBT issues, you hurt LGBT people.”
The petition asks that people agree to “publicly object to the anti-LGBT legal groups which operate within the United States legal system, including groups operating as Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) and Liberty Counsel.
“We, the undersigned members of the legal community, commit to inclusion by ensuring that our personal pro bono and volunteer capacity and personal financial resources will not be used to support the work of ADF and Liberty Counsel.”
FRC said that so far, the petition “hasn’t gotten a lot of traction — probably because the legal profession, like the rest of us, see this pledge for what it is: another declaration of intolerance.”
“Worse, that declaration comes from a profession with a tradition of defending unpopular ideas. The LGBT Bar wants to deny their opponents access to justice and the courts, which undermines the legal system’s own principles!”
At LGBTQ Nation, a report said the petition had obtained a few dozen signatures.
A statement from the LGBT Bar Association said: “For over 25 years, Alliance Defending Freedom and Liberty Counsel have waged a legal war against the LGBT community, systematically opposing equality for LGBT people in the areas of family formation (including marriage) and reproductive freedom, rights and protections for youth in schools, and access to goods and services.”
FRC quoted Ken Klukowski of First Liberty: “This group’s call for tolerance is just a cover for social tyranny. If the LGBT Bar Association wants to be taken seriously (a tall task after this stunt), it should start being an advocate for the law.”

If SPLC Was Really Interested In Helping People, Why Are They Taking Millions Offshore? Corrupt Sounding!

Southern Poverty Law Center Transfers Millions in Cash to Offshore Entities

Left-wing nonprofit pays lucrative six-figure salaries to top management

The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), a liberal, Alabama-based 501(c)(3) tax-exempt charitable organization that has gained prominence on the left for its "hate group" designations, pushes millions of dollars to offshore entities as part of its business dealings, records show.
Additionally, the nonprofit pays lucrative six-figure salaries to its top directors and key employees while spending little on legal services despite its stated intent of "fighting hate and bigotry" using litigation, education, and other forms of advocacy.
The Southern Poverty Law Center is perhaps best known for its "hate map," a collection of organizations the nonprofit deems "domestic hate groups" that lists mainstream conservative organizations alongside racist groups such as the Ku Klux Klan and is often referenced in the media. A gunman opened fire at the Washington, D.C., offices of the conservative Family Research Council in 2012 after seeing it listed as an "anti-gay" group on SPLC's website.
ADVERTISING
The SPLC has turned into a fundraising powerhouse, recording more than $50 million in contributions and $328 million in net assets on its 2015 Form 990, the most recently available tax form from the nonprofit. SPLC's Form 990-T, its business income tax return, from the same year shows that they have "financial interests" in the Cayman Islands, British Virgin Islands, and Bermuda. No information is available beyond the acknowledgment of the interests at the bottom of the form.
However, the Washington Free Beacon discovered forms from 2014 that shed light on some of the Southern Poverty Law Center's transfers to foreign entities.
The SPLC's Form 8865, a Return of U.S. Persons With Respect to Certain Foreign Partnerships, from 2014 shows that the nonprofit transferred hundreds of thousands to an account located in the Cayman Islands.
SPLC lists Tiger Global Management LLC, a New York-based private equity financial firm, as an agent on its form. The form shows a foreign partnership between the SPLC and Tiger Global Private Investment Partners IX, L.P., a pooled investment fund in the Cayman Islands. SPLC transferred $960,000 in cash on Nov. 24, 2014 to Tiger Global Private Investment Partners IX, L.P, its records show.
The SPLC's Form 926, a Return by a U.S. Transferor of Property to a Foreign Corporation, from 2014 shows additional cash transactions that the nonprofit had sent to offshore funds.
The SPLC reported a $102,007 cash transfer on Dec. 24, 2014 to BPV-III Cayman X Limited, a foreign entity located in the Cayman Islands. The group then sent $157,574 in cash to BPV-III Cayman XI Limited on Dec. 31, 2014, an entity that lists the same PO Box address in Grand Cayman as the previous transfer.
The nonprofit pushed millions more into offshore funds at the beginning of 2015.
On March 1, 2015, SPLC sent $2,200,000 to an entity incorporated in Canana Bay, Cayman Islands, according to Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) records and run by a firm firm based in Greenwich, Ct. Another $2,200,000 cash transfer was made on the same day to another fund whose business is located at the same address as the previous fund in the Cayman Islands, according to SEC records.
No information is contained on its interests in Bermuda on the 2014 forms. SPLC's financial stakes in the British Virgin Islands were not acknowledged until its 2015 tax form.
Lucinda Chappelle, a principal at Jackson Thornton, the public accounting firm in Montgomery, Ala., that prepared the SPLC's tax forms, said she does not discuss client matters and hung up the phone when the Free Beacon contacted her in an attempt to get the most updated forms from the group in relation to its foreign business dealings.
Tax experts expressed confusion when being told of the transfer.
"I've never known a US-based nonprofit dealing in human rights or social services to have any foreign bank accounts," said Amy Sterling Casil, CEO of Pacific Human Capital, a California-based nonprofit consulting firm. "My impression based on prior interactions is that they have a small, modestly paid staff, and were regarded by most in the industry as frugal and reliable. I am stunned to learn of transfers of millions to offshore bank accounts. It is a huge red flag and would have been completely unacceptable to any wealthy, responsible, experienced board member who was committed to a charitable mission who I ever worked with."
"It is unethical for any US-based charity to invest large sums of money overseas," said Casil. "I know of no legitimate reason for any US-based nonprofit to put money in overseas, unregulated bank accounts."
"It seems extremely unusual for a ‘501(c)(3)' concentrating upon reducing poverty in the American South to have multiple bank accounts in tax haven nations," Charles Ortel, a former Wall Street analyst and financial advisor who helped uncover a 2009 financial scandal at General Electric, told the Free Beacon.
The nonprofit also pays lucrative salaries to its top leadership.
Richard Cohen, president and chief executive officer of the SPLC, was given $346,218 in base compensation in 2015, its tax forms show. Cohen received $20,000 more in other reportable compensation and non-taxable benefits. Morris Dees, SPLC's chief trial counsel, received a salary of $329,560 with $42,000 in additional reportable compensation and non-taxable benefits.
The minimum amount paid to an officer, director, trustee, or key employee in 2015 was $140,000 in base salary, not including other compensation.  The group spent $20 million on salaries throughout the year.
The SPLC, which claims to boast a staff of 75 lawyers who practice in the area of children's rights, economic justice, immigrant justice, LGBT rights, and criminal justice reform, reported spending only $61,000 on legal services in 2015.
Following recent violence in Charlottesville, Va., the group raised a great deal of money.
Apple CEO Tim Cook told his employees that the company is donating $1 million to the SPLC and would match employee contributions two to one. Cook also placed an SPLC donation button in its iTunes store. The company is additionally providing a $1 million donation to the Anti-Defamation League.
J.P Morgan Chase vowed to add a $500,000 donation for the group's "work in tracking, exposing, and fighting hate groups and other extremist organizations."
The Washington Times reported that CNN ran a wire story following the Charlottesville events originally titled, "Here are all the active hate groups where you live" using SPLC's list of 917 groups.
Brad Dacus, the president of the Pacific Justice Institute, a Sacramento-based group that defends "religious freedom, parental rights, and other civil liberties without charge," was listed on the "hate groups" list.
"Why is the Southern Poverty Law Center doing this? It's simple. They want to vilify and isolate anyone that doesn't agree with their very extremist leftist policy and ideology," Dacus told the Times. "This isn't about defending civil rights; this is about attacking civil rights."
"I am shocked that CNN would publish such a false report on the heels of the Charlottesville tragedy," added Mat Staver, the founder of Liberty Counsel, a Christian nonprofit that provides pro bono assistance and representation, which is also featured on SPLC's list. "To lump peaceful Christian organizations, which condemn violence and racism, in with the KKK, neo-Nazis, and white supremacists is offensive. This is the epitome of fake news and is why people no longer trust the media."
CNN later changed its headline to, "The Southern Poverty Law Center's list of hate groups."
"The SPLC is an anti-conservative, anti-Christian hate group that the media have given pretend legitimacy to. One glance at their 990 tax forms is a reminder just what a fund-raising super-power it is," Dan Gainor, vice president of Business and Culture at the Media Research Center, told the Free Beacon. "Its assets are over $328 million in 2015 and went up $13 million in just one year. It doesn't need new liberal money. It could operate for at least six years and never raise a penny. It's like a perpetual motion machine for fundraisers."
The SPLC has also been hit with a number of lawsuits over "hate" defamation claims in recent days.
The Southern Poverty Law Center did not return a request for comment on its foreign financial dealings by press time.

Gorsuch Must Be Confirmed As Supreme Court Justice

NEWS,

Homosexual legal group assails Gorsuch as ‘dangerous’ for defending Hobby Lobby

WASHINGTON, D.C., February 2, 2017 (LifeSiteNews) — The nation’s leading homosexual-bisexual-transgender legal organization assailed Neil Gorsuch in a brief that will make social conservatives delighted over President Trump’s choice to replace the late Antonin Scalia on the Supreme Court.
Lambda Legal published an article titled “Neil Gorsuch has an unacceptable, hostile record toward LGBT people,” accompanied by a graphic of Gorsuch’s face with the word “Dangerous” covering his eyes. The article says Gorsuch’s decision in the 2013 10th Circuit Hobby Lobby case is “disqualifying.”
“The Hobby Lobby decision set a terrible and destructive standard for bosses being allowed to meddle in our sex lives and decide whether or not birth control is covered by the employer’s insurance plan. In Judge Gorsuch’s decision, he calls the inclusion of health coverage that includes birth control – ‘complicity … in the wrongdoing of others.’”
However, this example from a Gorsuch opinion cited by Lambda Legal is precisely why social conservatives are excited about his nomination. They agree with the implication that people or small businesses should not be forced to take part in practices they believe are morally wrong, whether it is subsidized contraception or a homosexuality-based “wedding.”
Social conservatives hope the same reasoning cited by Trump’s nominee of not forcing citizens to be “complicit … in the wrongdoing of others” would lead a potential Supreme Court “Justice Gorsuch” to also rule against laws compelling Christian- and faith-based businesses to participate in homosexual “marriages” if they believe that homosexual behavior is wrong.
As Mat Staver, founder and chairman of the Christian legal group Liberty Counsel, wrote, Gorsuch “supported the religious liberty arguments against forced abortion mandates under ObamaCare in [the decisions] Hobby Lobby and Little Sisters of the Poor.”
The Lambda Legal article states: “We absolutely must not confirm a Supreme Court nominee who has ruled that the religious beliefs of employers can trump the law. It is a short hop from birth control restrictions to restrictions on the intimate relationships and healthcare needs of LGBT people.”
Not surprisingly, Family Research Council President Tony Perkins took a different view, praising Gorsuch:
"Judge Gorsuch’s record over the last 14 years, especially on religious liberty, gives Americans every reason to believe he will make a fine Supreme Court justice. His reputation as a judge with integrity and dedication to the Constitution should be an encouragement to all Americans.”
FRC, while fighting on a range of issues from abortion to pornography, is the leading pro-family opponent of the LGBTQ agenda in Washington, D.C.
Another major pro-family group that opposes the homosexual-bisexual-transgender agenda is American Family Association (AFA). Its president, Tim Wildmon, urged his group’s millions of followers to thank President Trump for the Gorsuch nomination.
“Gorsuch is a believer in a broad definition of religious freedom and sided with Christian employers and religious organizations in the cases of Burwell v. Hobby Lobby Stores, Inc. and Little Sisters of the Poor.
“In the Hobby Lobby case, he wrote: ‘The ACA's [Obama] mandate requires them to violate their religious faith by forcing them to lend an impermissible degree of assistance to conduct their religion teaches to be gravely wrong.’

Gorsuch not pro-“transgender” enough?

The homosexual legal group also cites then-Circuit Judge Gorsuch’s ruling in a 2015 case, Druley v. Patton, involving a transsexual prisoner who sued “the Oklahoma Department of Corrections had violated her constitutional rights by denying her medically necessary hormone treatment and her request to wear feminine clothing.”
Lambda Legal faults Gorsuch for joining a ruling that stated, in part:
“To date, this court has not held that a transsexual plaintiff is a member of a protected suspect class for purposes of Equal Protection claims. . . . Ms. Druley [a biological man] did not allege any facts suggesting the ODOC defendants' decisions concerning her clothing or housing do not bear a rational relation to a legitimate state purpose. Thus, she has not demonstrated a likelihood of success on her Equal Protection claims.”

Human Rights Campaign opposes Gorsuch

The homosexual activist group Human Rights Campaign, which endorsed Hillary Clinton for president and routinely classifies Christian conservatives as hateful, joined Lambda Legal in opposing Gorsuch’s nomination. Equating the LGBTQ political agenda with “civil rights,” HRC writes that “Gorsuch has a long and troubling career opposing civil rights, including for LGBTQ people.”
It cites the following as evidence for that charge:
  • “Gorsuch called marriage equality [LGBTA activist euphemism for homosexual “marriage”] part of the liberal social agenda, saying “American liberals have become addicted to the courtroom … as the primary means of effecting their social agenda on everything from gay marriage to assisted suicide … ”
  • “He joined the Tenth Circuit’s decision in Hobby Lobby v. Sebelius, which asserted that that some private corporations are “people” under federal law and have a right to deny basic healthcare coverage if it violates their religious belief.  This expansive ruling could allow employers to deny transgender employees access to hormone treatment, access to birth control and other crucial health care for LGBTQ people.
  • “Hobby Lobby could have negative long-term consequences beyond healthcare for the LGBTQ community. There are those who are already trying to use the decision to support discrimination against LGBTQ workers.
  • “In 2015, Gorsuch joined a ruling against a transgender woman who was denied consistent access to hormone therapy while incarcerated. The ruling dismissed the prisoner’s claims that the denial of care amounted to cruel and unusual punishment under the U.S. Constitution.
  • “He has advocated for eliminating Chevron deference [see below], a critical administrative law doctrine that allows our federal system of regulations to function, which could result in the significant loss protections for LGBTQ people.”
HRC states that it “has taken the extraordinary step of opposing this Supreme Court nominee prior to his confirmation hearing — a first for the organization.”
For a conservative defense of Gorsuch and his judicial record, see The Daily Signal, put out by the conservative Heritage Foundation.
The Daily Signal piece reports on the “Chevron deference” below:
“Courts will typically defer to an administrative agency’s interpretation of an ambiguous statute if that interpretation is reasonable. Known as ‘Chevron deference,’ this practice is controversial and often criticized by conservatives.
“In 2016, Gorsuch authored a separate concurring opinion, explicitly calling Chevron deference into question. He wrote, ‘ … the fact is Chevron … permit[s] executive bureaucracies to swallow huge amounts of core judicial and legislative power and concentrate federal power in a way that seems more than a little difficult to square with the Constitution of the framers’ design.’”

Out of touch?

Yet another homosexual-bisexual-transgender organization, the National LGBTQ Task Force, put out this harsh statement calling Gorsuch “out of touch.”
“Judge Neil Gorsuch’s record reveals a jurist who: believes that bosses should control their employees’ private health care decisions; supports the misuse of religion to legalize discrimination; and holds LGBTQ equality with disdain. He is also a darling of those who are vehemently opposed to marriage equality. He seems like someone who aligns perfectly with Donald Trump and Mike Pence’s view of the world, but is completely out of touch with the realities of most people’s lives,” said Rea Carey, Executive Director, National LGBTQ Task Force.”
The Task Force is a leftist organization that supports — beyond homosexuality and transgenderism — “polyamory” (multiple-partner sexual unions), sadomasochism and other practices on the sexual and gender fringe. Every year at its “Creating Change” conference for LGBTQ activists, it gives out a “Leather Leadership Award” to a prominent sadomasochism (“kink”) advocate.

Freedom Of Religion Being Challenged In Georgia

Give Unto Caesar...Christian Pastor Refuses To Obey Order To Hand Sermons To The State

Dr Eric WalshFacebook
Nearly 40,000 people have signed  a petition  backing a Christian pastor who is resisting demands to hand over his sermons to the state.
Walsh, a lay pastor who takes a traditional Biblical line on issues such as sexuality, was fired in 2014 from his job as a health administrator by the Georgia Department of Public Health. Officials had watched some of his sermons on YouTube.
Walsh, of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, was then ordered to hand over all his sermons, his sermon notes and his Bible and any other relevant documents going back to when he was just 18 years old to the state in a move criticised as an "unjust assault on people of faith."
He has continued to refuse to do so.
The Family Research Council petition backing Dr Walsh says: "I stand with Dr Eric Walsh's freedom to believe and live according to his deeply-held beliefs.
"The demand that he hand over his sermons, sermon notes, and all pastoral documents including his Bible represents a government intrusion into the sanctity of the church, pastor's study, and pulpit.
"Heavy-handed tactics like this have the effect of intimidating and silencing people of faith everywhere. Such targeting of the pulpit by the government is unconscionable, and I urge you to use all means of your authority to correct this egregious overreach of the state into church affairs."
Walsh, who is being supported by First Liberty Institute, is suing for religious discrimination.

Dr. Eric Walsh says he was fired because of things he said in his sermon.(First Liberty Institute)
His lawyer, Jeremy Dys of First Liberty, told CBN: "It is illegal for an employer to consider an employee's religion in making their hiring and firing decisions.
"No one in this country, including Dr Walsh, should be fired for something they said in the pulpit.
"The pulpit is a sacred space...for them to intrude upon that sacred space is a gross violation of the Consititution and religious liberty in general."
Walsh himself told CBN: "My mom was a single mother and what got us through was our faith. What I learned at church taught me the value of getting an education and led me to want to serve those in need. That's why I became a doctor and I've held onto those beliefs ever since."
He added: "I couldn't believe they fired me because of things I talked about in my sermons. It was devastating. I have been unable to get a job in public health since then. By reviewing my sermons and firing me because of my religious beliefs, the State of Georgia destroyed my career in public service."
LGBT groups had protested when Walsh, who had been an advisor on HIV/Aids to President Barack Obama, was offered the job in 2014 running a district of the health department in Georgia. They were concerned that he was opposed to homosexuality.
The offer was then rescinded and Dr Walsh was also placed on administrative leave from his job as Pasadena public health director, so that officials could look into his sermons in which he described homosexuality as sinful and also criticised evolution, Islam and Catholicism, according to the Daily Caller. He then resigned from that job.
In a statement at the time, a Georgia health department spokesman said the background checks led to the job offer being retracted.ed: "I couldn't believe they fired me because of things I talked about in my sermons.
