But when it comes to Sen. Richard Burr, R-N.C., they both agreed on Thursday — Burr must resign.

Burr, the Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman, sold as much as $1.7 million in stocks just before the market dropped in February amid fears about the coronavirus epidemic.

Senate records show that Burr and his wife sold between roughly $600,000 and $1.7 million in more than 30 separate transactions in late January and mid-February, just before the market began to fall and as government health officials began to issue stark warnings about the effects of the virus.

Several of the stocks were in companies that own hotels.

The stock sales were first reported by ProPublica and The Center for Responsive Politics. Most of them came on Feb. 13, just before Burr made a speech in Washington, D.C., in which he predicted severe consequences from the virus, including closed schools and cutbacks in company travel, according to audio obtained by National Public Radio and released Thursday.

Burr told the small North Carolina State Society audience that the virus was “much more aggressive in its transmission than anything that we have seen in recent history” and “probably more akin to the 1918 pandemic.”

Burr’s remarks were much more dire than remarks he had made publicly.

While there is no proof that Burr had any inside information as he sold the stocks and issued the private warnings, critics say the million-dollar move was suspiciously timed.

Both Carlson and Ocasio-Cortez have called for Burr to resign.

Burr said on Twitter Thursday that Americans were already being warned about the effects of the virus when he made the speech to the North Carolina State Society.

“The message I shared with my constituents is the one public health officials urged all of us to heed as coronavirus spread increased,” Burr wrote. “Be prepared.”

Burr sent out the tweets before reports of his stock sales. A spokesperson for the senator said in a statement that Burr “has been deeply concerned by the steep and sudden toll this pandemic is taking on our economy” and supports congressional efforts to help the economy. The spokesperson declined to be identified in order to share the senator’s thinking.

The North Carolina senator was not the only lawmaker to sell of stocks just before the steep decline due to the global pandemic.

Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., also sold off a huge amount of stocks after early coronavirus briefings, before the public was made aware.

“Feinstein, who serves as ranking member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, and her husband sold between $1.5 million and $6 million in stock in California biotech company Allogene Therapeutics, between Jan. 31 and Feb. 18,” according to Fox News.

The company has lost a significant amount of value since the coronavirus outbreak.

And Georgia Sen. Kelly Loeffler, a new senator who is up for re-election this year, sold off hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of stock in late January, as senators began to get briefings on the virus, also according to Senate records.

In the weeks that followed, Loeffler urged her constituents to have faith in the Trump administration’s efforts to prepare the nation.

“@realDonaldTrump & his administration are doing a great job working to keep Americans healthy & safe,” Loeffler tweeted Feb. 27.

The Daily Beast first reported that Loeffler dropped the stock in late January. The senator is married to Jeffrey Sprecher, the chairman and CEO of Intercontinental Exchange, which owns the New York Stock Exchange.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer was behind the leaked letter that made Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation hearing historically controversial.

The nation spent a week gripped in a “he said, she said” battle between Kavanaugh supporters demanding evidence and those that believed Dr. Christine Blasey Ford’s accusations. The entire fight centered around a letter Ford sent to California Sen. Dianne Feinstein, the leading Democrat on the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Ford asked to remain anonymous, but her life was turned upside-down when her name was leaked to mainstream media journalists.

The media quickly began hounding Ford and her family, causing her to be unwillingly thrust into the national spotlight — and it was all at the direction of Schumer.

That’s according to Arkansas Sen. Tom Cotton, a Republican, who told radio host Hugh Hewitt the leaking of Ford’s letter was a “political operation” of Schumer “from the very beginning.”

A spokesman for Schumer has strongly denied the claim and dismissed Cotton as a conspiracy theorist. That hasn’t slowed down the Arkansas Republican.

“I believe the Schumer political operation was behind [the leak] from the very beginning,” Cotton said. “We learned last week that a woman named Monica McLean was Ms. Ford’s roommate, and she was one of the so-called beach friends who encouraged Ms. Ford to go to Dianne Feinstein and the partisan Democrats on the Judiciary Committee.”

“Well, it just turns out, it just so happens that Monica McLean worked for a Preet Bharara, the former U.S. Attorney in Manhattan,” Cotton continued. “Now, a virulent anti-Trump critic on television — and former counsel to Chuck Schumer.”

“So I strongly suspect that Chuck Schumer’s political operation knew about Ms. Ford’s allegations as far back as July and manipulated the process all along to include taking advantage of Ms. Ford’s confidences and directing her towards left-wing lawyers who apparently may have violated the D.C. code of legal ethics and perhaps may face their own investigation by the D.C. Bar,” he said.

Cotton went on to predict that the “left wing mobs” that Schumer and the Democratic Party have incited to push their political agenda would hurt them in the longrun.

“I think there’s going to be a consequence for those Democrats in four weeks from today in the polls,” Cotton predicted. “But remember … voting has already started in a lot of places, and our people are starting to go out and vote to show their revulsion at the left wing mob tactics.”

Democrats desperately hoped that their antics surrounding the confirmation of Brett Kavanaugh would keep him off the Supreme Court … but their actions seem to have seriously backfired.

Instead of stopping the conservative judge, liberals appear to have unified the right.

Recent polls show that voters are re-energized to support Republicans in the upcoming midterm elections, and a majority of citizens of all backgrounds disapprove of how Democratic Sen. Dianne Feinstein, in particular, handled the unproven accusations against Kavanaugh.

The former justice may have been known as a conservative, but Adele Scalia is not.

“I’ve always considered myself politically moderate: I am unapologetically pro-life, but my views on affirmative action, Black Lives Matter, and gun control made me sympathize strongly with Democratic perspectives and occasionally led to arguments with my husband and father-in-law,” she wrote in an Op-Ed piece published by The Federalist.

Scalia checks many of the identity politics boxes revered by modern liberals. She’s a female, of course, and is also a “person of color” who immigrated from Trinidad and Tobago. As she pointed out herself in her article, she was never completely comfortable with the Republican party for a variety of reasons.

All that changed thanks to the appalling treatment of Kavanaugh by Democrats, and their rejection of evidence or presumption of innocence in favor of a political witch hunt.

“I have become a unicorn,” Scalia wrote.

Will the Kavanaugh process drive more voters away from Democrats?

“All it took was Democrats’ treatment of Brett Kavanaugh over the last few weeks to turn me into that elusive creature: a minority, immigrant woman who supports Republicans,” the former attorney and stay-at-home mother said.

Mincing no words, Scalia declared that what she saw happen over the last few weeks “convinced me that Democrats are not who they claim to be.”

“The party that established itself as a champion for the voiceless, powerless, and wrongfully accused, betrayed its values and launched a vicious attack on Kavanaugh that left him voiceless, powerless, and completely incapable of defending himself,” she wrote.

Scalia pointed out something that a few others have also noticed: Despite constantly pretending to stand for the rights of the accused when it comes to urban minorities, the left betrayed those principles when it came to a conservative white male.

“Against all logic and good faith, they released uncorroborated allegations of sexual misconduct to the public, counting on the backdrop of the ‘Me Too’ movement to make them that much harder to criticize or ignore. I still cannot reconcile these actions with the social and criminal justice reform platforms that Democrats campaign on,” she wrote.

Then she revealed something that should be a red alert to Democrats: For the first time since legally entering the country, Scalia feels compelled to officially become a full citizen so she can vote … for Republicans.

“These events opened my eyes to the hypocrisy of the Democratic Party,” Scalia declared, summarizing the problem.

The left just created a new minority, female immigrant conservative voter — and there could be many more previously undecided voters who have been motivated by the kangaroo court of last two weeks.

Well done, Democrats.

In the wake of news reports this week that Hillary Clinton’s email server was hacked by a Chinese-owned company, talk-radio host Rush Limbaugh is wondering where the denials are from the former U.S. secretary of state and former President Obama.

“Has anybody seen Barack Hussein O or Hillary Clinton on TV denying the news story that the Chinese government had real-time hacked access to Hillary Clinton’s computer, her home-brew server and network when she was secretary of state? I haven’t seen that,” Limbaugh said on his national broadcast Wednesday.

“Has anybody seen Obama and Hillary indignant? Has anybody seen them on television flat-out refusing, denying, saying this is absurd? Anybody seen that? You haven’t.”

As WND reported Tuesday, the private email server through which Mrs. Clinton transmitted classified information as secretary of state was hacked by a Chinese-owned company, according to sources briefed on the matter who spoke to the Daily Caller News Foundation.

Copies of nearly all of Clinton’s emails were forwarded to the company in real time through a code embedded in the server as part of an intelligence operation, the sources said.

The FBI failed to act when the Intelligence Community Inspector General warned of the problem, Rep. Louie Gohmert, R-Texas, said at a July 12 House Committee on the Judiciary hearing, as WND reported.

President Trump tweeted about the matter Tuesday night, saying: “Hillary Clinton’s Emails, many of which are Classified Information, got hacked by China. Next move better be by the FBI & DOJ or, after all of their other missteps (Comey, McCabe, Strzok, Page, Ohr, FISA, Dirty Dossier etc.), their credibility will be forever gone!”

“Do you realize what a hellacious charge this is?” Limbaugh asked.

“It’s real-time access to her computer. Not to mention the spy that was on Dianne Feinstein’s staff for 20 years.

“The ChiComs essentially had a screen-sharing app real time. They simply could watch Hillary Clinton do whatever she did on her computer. And if she got an email from Obama, they could read it as she opened it. Real-time screen sharing is essentially what the nature of the hack was. And they’re not denying it.”

Limbaugh surmised if the story were not true, “we would have flat-out denials. Instead, they’re hoping that the media not reporting means nobody will see it.”

While Clinton and Obama may have not personally reacted to the story, Nick Merrill, a Clinton spokesman, dismissed the charge, telling the DCNF: “This is the most combed over subject in modern American political history.”Out More >

“The FBI spent thousands of hours investigating, and found no evidence of intrusion. That’s a fact,” Merrill added. “But in an age where facts are alternative and truth isn’t truth, it’s no surprise that an outlet like the Daily Caller would try to distract us from very real and very immediate threats to our democracy brought by the man occupying the White House.”

The FBI, meanwhile, told NBC News Wednesday the bureau “has not found any evidence the (Clinton) servers were compromised.”

Limbaugh took a shot at the national news media for their apparent lack of interest in the story, saying: “A real media would be camped outside Hillary’s house and Obama’s house and demanding to know what the hell was going on with the Chinese government having real-time hacked her computer, her home brew server, while she was secretary of state. A real media would be. And the fact that nobody is reacting to it and they’re not out there denying this, they’re not even breaking a sweat over it. But they will.”

Trump sent out a joking tweet about Hillary’s server Tuesday night, saying: “Report just out: ‘China hacked Hillary Clinton’s private Email Server.’ Are they sure it wasn’t Russia (just kidding!)? What are the odds that the FBI and DOJ are right on top of this? Actually, a very big story. Much classified information!”
