By Withdrawal From Iraq, Obama Essentially Gave It to Iran. Does This Prove He Is The Leading Muslim In The World?

Escalating protests in Baghdad threaten the Iraqi government as Shiite Muslim factions battle for control for the country, and retired U.S. Air Force Lt. Gen. Tom McInerney says Iran could soon wield all the power in Iraq unless the U.S. changes course in significant ways.
He is also reacting to ISIS killing a U.S. Navy SEAL, who was assisting the Kurdish Peshmerga against ISIS.
In recent days, protesters have stormed government buildings, protesting Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi’s decision to replace members of his cabinet. Al-Abadi said the move was to root out corruption and bring in reformers. The protesters believe it was designed to lessen the influence of different ethnic and sectarian factions.
And an old U.S. nemesis is right in the middle of it.
“What you’re seeing right now is that (radical Shiite cleric) Moqtada al-Sadr is responsible for creating a greater wedge when the current Iraq prime minister wanted to make Iraq more independent from Iran,” McInerney told WND and Radio America.
“You have a combination of Iranian Shiite and Iraqi Shiite competing as to who controls the government and who controls Iraq. That’s the bottom line of what’s going on over there right now,” he added.
Al-Sadr is loyal to Iran. He and his forces are responsible for the deaths of many American troops during the sectarian uprising in Iraq. Al-Sadr then fled to Iran when U.S. forces gained a decisive edge.

McInerney said all of this upheaval can be traced to the Obama administration’s decision to wash its hands of Iraq.
“When we pulled out, this administration fundamentally gave Iraq to Iran,” McInerney said.
Now the Iraqi government is feeling much greater heat from Shiite factions more loyal to Tehran than to Baghdad in addition to the threat posed by ISIS in the north. ISIS still controls Mosul and other swaths of territory in Iraq and is still within striking distance of the capital.
“Unless we have strong allied and U.S. leadership over there, then we are in danger of clearly losing Iraq completely to Iran,” he said.
Listen to the WND/Radio America interview with retired U.S. Air Force Lt. Gen. Tom McInerney:

McInerney is not in favor of bringing huge contingents of ground forces back to Iraq, but he said the U.S. could end the ISIS threat very quickly if it would just use its overwhelming and largely unchallenged air power.
“I would have a very aggressive air campaign,” McInerney said. “Not eight (sorties) a day. I’d have hundreds a day. I would take out ISIS right away. I would absolutely destroy them and everything around them, and I would accept the collateral damage that goes with it because it would be a very short and intensive air campaign. That would show our strength.”
His air campaign would include decimating ISIS headquarters and other critical infrastructure in Syria as well as spotting and eliminating weapons and fighters in the desert. He said crushing ISIS would end the dream of the caliphate and stop the flow of radical ideologues to the area.
“Only then can we start reasserting our strength and position in the region,” McInerney said.
On Tuesday, Defense Secretary Ashton Carter announced the death of a U.S. service member as a “combat death” in Iraq. Later identified as a Navy SEAL, the American was officially “assisting” Kurdish forces.

According to Fox News, ISIS was breaking through the Kurdish line when about 20 SEALs swooped in to “heroically” beat back the ISIS forces.
McInerney is not at all surprised that American “advisers” are engaging in direct combat with the enemy.
“Although the administration does not want to admit it, I think it’s obvious when you’re putting those kinds of numbers and those kinds of forces in there as advisers, particularly at the battalion level, that you’re going to have these kinds of incidents, particularly if you get a breakthrough,” McInerney said.
But he said it never should have come to that sort of ground action.
“Where was the air power to stop that effort?” he asked. “Why didn’t we know what was going on down there? That’s my concern. We should have planes airborne 24/7 that could immediately respond to these kinds of attacks.”

Isn't It Time For Obama To Create Another War?

WASHINGTON – As Washington prepares to take “decisive military action” in Libya against the alarming growth of ISIS, retired generals have told G2 Bulletin they are concerned that the United States may go it alone, according to a new report in Joseph Farah’s G2 Bulletin.
They ask which allies, if any, will join a coalition and attempt to work with a Libyan government that barely exists.
At a news conference last week, Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Marine Gen. Joseph F. Dunford Jr. said the U.S. is “looking to take decisive military action” against ISIS in Libya and that a decision would be coming “in weeks” but “not hours.”
“It’s fair to say that we’re looking to take decisive military action against ISIS in conjunction with the political process” in Libya, Dunford said. “The president has made clear that we have the authority to use military force.”
ISIS is thought to have more than 3,000 fighters, with more flowing into Libya from Syria and Iraq, where the U.S., Russia and other countries have been carrying out intense airstrikes against the jihadist fighters.
Another ‘trillion-dollar failure’?
In October 2011, the U.S., France and Britain launched attacks that led to the overthrow of the government of Libyan leader Muammar Gadhafi. Since then, the country has not had a functional government. Warring factions of local jihadist groups are preoccupied fighting among themselves for dominance rather than taking on ISIS or coming together to form a government of national accord.
U.S. action in Libya, retired U.S. Air Force Lt. Gen. Thomas McInerney told G2Bulletin in an email, “is the last thing we need to do!”
“Why spend (a trillion dollars) for another COIN (counterinsurgency) failure?”
Retired U.S. Adm. James Lyons Jr., who served as commander of the U.S. Pacific Fleet from 1985-1987, told G2Bulletin that McInerney’s concern about the possibility of unilateral U.S. action is “Spot on!”
Retired U.S. Army Maj. Gen. Paul E. Vallely expressed similar concerns to G2Bulletin, concluding Dunford’s comments represent a military invasion by the Obama administration.
“I can’t even see Obama taking any offensive action anywhere like that,” Vallely said.
Vallely is chairman of the non-profit Stand Up America and the private Citizens’ Commission on Benghazi, which is looking into the Sept. 11, 2012, terrorist attack on the U.S. compound in Benghazi.
He said that if there is to be any such military action, it needs to include Egypt, which bombed ISIS locations in Libya after the February 2015 beheading of some 21 Libyan Coptic Christians who were working in the country.
Vallely also thought the Russians could join, especially if asked by Egypt, since Moscow has just concluded a $2 billion military arms deal with Cairo that includes helicopters, fighter jets, Kornet anti-tank weapons, the anti-ballistic missile system Antey-2500 and the Buk-2 surface-to-air missile system.

A Plan For Syria, Can It Work, Will It Work?

PutinObamagov
WASHINGTON – Retired U.S. Army Maj. Gen. Paul E. Vallely has proposed a solution to the Syrian conflict to the top Middle East adviser to Russian President Vladimir Putin, whose military is pounding jihadist targets in Syria as Western leaders rush to meet in Vienna to deal with the growing refugee crisis in Europe, according to a new report from Joseph Farah’s G2 Bulletin.
Accompanied by his own Middle East adviser, Naji N. Najjar, Vallely held a quiet meeting at the Russian Embassy in Paris with Putin’s special representative for the Middle East and Syria, Mikhail L. Bogdanov.
Vallely proposed that the Russians meet with generals of the Free Syrian Army, which has sought the ouster of Assad.
Vallely, who has backed and helped secure TOW missiles for some of the army’s 40,000 to 50,000 fighters, told Bogdanov he believes the FSA could unite Syria.
“Nobody else has come up with a plan for Syria,” Vallely told G2Bulletin.
He explained that he originally was scheduled to meet with Russia’s ambassador to France but when ushered into the room, it was Bogdanov who greeted him.
Vallely’s meeting with Bogdanov comes as representatives of the United States, France, Russia, Saudi Arabia and Turkey are scheduled to meet in Vienna to discuss a political solution to the Syrian civil war, which is going into its fourth year. Millions of Syrians have fled the country, creating a refugee crisis in Europe.
Valley believes Bogdanov took the plan seriously.

“Putin knows he’s running the chessboard, and he knows that (President) Obama and the American government are just talk, they’re weak. So he knows that (Putin) can basically do whatever he wants to,” Vallely said.
“That’s why this plan is very optimistic in nature but certainly very doable if Putin wants to go that route.”
Vallely met the top Putin aide in his capacity as founder of the group Stand Up America. In the military, Vallely served in the Vietnam War and was deputy commanding general of Pacific Command.
Along with retired Air Force Lt. Gen. Thomas McInerney, Vallely co-authored the book “Endgame: The Blueprint for Victory in the War on Terror.”
‘Stop bombing them’
Vallely emphasized to Bogdanov that the Syrian people are not against the Russian people and their nation’s vital interests. But the general insisted that the first step is for the Russians to stop bombing the Free Syrian Army and innocent civilians.
A cease-fire, Vallely said, would help end the Syrian conflict through political compromise.

Just some of the provisions in Vallely’s plan include:
  • Current Syrian government officials, including Assad, would resign and be replaced by an interim government, parliament and president representing all Syrians and religious groups.
  • The new government would plan for future elections. All Syrians who have fled would be returned to the homeland through the Mediterranean ports of Latakia and Tartus, and Turkish passage zones.
  • Western Syrian territory would be secured and declared the Syrian Resettlement Zone for all Syrian refugees now in Europe, Jordan and Turkey.
