Donald Trump just did it again.

He is so much smarter than the mainstream media and the establishment GOP. He is playing at another level – like Michael Jordan did years ago, or LeBron James does today. Every time the media, the establishment GOP, or Donald’s critics and opponents for president think he’s destroyed himself with outrageous and offensive comments, his ratings go up, and they wind up with egg on their face.

It’s about to happen again.

Trump just shocked and outraged the media, critics and the GOP establishment by recommending a ban on all Muslims entering the U.S. But I’m betting Trump goes up in the polls. Anyone want to bet?

Trump’s move was brilliant – again. His critics are going to have egg on their face – again. They just don’t understand the game he’s playing – he’s a man playing chess. They are little boys playing checkers.

This is an exact repeat of what happened this past summer when Trump supposedly called all Mexicans “rapists and murderers.” Except he didn’t say that. What he said was the border is wide open; bad people are coming in; Mexico is not sending us their best; and some of them are rapists and murderers. He never said all of them are criminals. As a matter of fact Trump praised legal immigrants from Mexico. He didn’t say it very artfully. He was certainly harsh. But it’s clear his intent was not to say all Mexicans are rapists and murderers.

Trump’s intent was clear as a bell to millions of Americans – who agreed that Trump was pointing out a legitimate problem. Only days later a young woman lost her life at the hands of a five-time deported illegal alienfrom Mexico. Trump soared in the polls.

The thing is Trump’s comments were harsh but true. There is a crime wave in this country being committed by illegal aliens. Illegal aliens acccount for over 30 percent of murders in several states. Our prisons are filled with foreign nationals – almost 70 percent of them are from Mexico. Many bad people – including potential terrorists – could be coming across that border. But even the peaceful nice illegal aliens pouring across are on welfare, food stamps, Medicaid and other forms of government entitlement checks at a far higher rate than native-born Americans. Illegal immigration is leading to the bankruptcy of America.

Back then Trump’s supposedly “offensive and outrageous” comments were all over the news. The mainstream media said, “Poor Trump, his political career is over before it began.”

But something funny happened on the way to the funeral. By spreading his views far and wide in hysterical headlines, the media made Trump a hero. Millions of Americans liked what they heard. They agreed with him that illegal immigration is a serious problem. The media branded him with hundreds of millions of dollars in free publicity and promotion. They allowed him to suck up all the oxygen in the room. Trump became an overnight sensation and the frontrunner for the GOP presidential nomination.

Well don’t look now, but it’s happening all over again.

The media is misquoting Trump just like last time and misunderstanding that what he said is going to be popular with millions of Americans – again. The more they condemn him; the more they talk about him; the more they’ll spread his message without the need to spend a dime on advertising. Once again, Trump sucks all the oxygen out of the room.

They average American voter has heard of John Kasich. Carly Fiorina has disappeared. Jeb Bush is history – he can’t get to 10 percent in polls anymore. But Donald Trump is on everyone’s lips. Love him or hate him, you can’t stop talking about him. Trump just became the No. 1 topic at every dinner table in America – again.

And the media has misunderstood or misrepresented his comments – again. If Trump said he wanted to ban all Muslims from America permanently, I’d disagree strongly. If he said he would not allow Muslim Americans back in this country, I’d disagree strongly. If he said that we would deport Muslims out of America, I’d disagree strongly. But that’s not what he said.

Trump merely proposed a temporary ban until we can get our act together. That’s perfectly reasonable. That’s worth a national debate.

Trump believes the U.S. government is incompetent. I agree. He doesn’t trust the government’s ability to keep us safe from terrorism. I agree.

Because of that Trump believes we need to take a “time out.” We need to pause, breathe deep and analyze whether our government can determine who the bad guys are. This is a TEMPORARY ban on Muslim foreigners only, until our government can get it’s act together and insure we‘re all safe. I agree.

Trump’s ban is temporary. It does not apply to Muslim Americans. It does not apply to Muslims in our military. It does not apply to foreign dignataries. How do I know? Because I called Trump’s national campaign manager and went over the plan point by point. That’s something the media never bothered to do.

This isn’t an attack on Muslims. It’s an attack on our incompetent government – which is not keeping us, or our children safe. This is reasonable and prudent, temporaily, until we can figure out who is coming into our country. Which means Trump has out flanked his critics and opponents – again.

I can’t wait for next week’s GOP debate in Las Vegas. I’ll be in the audience. And what Trump has done is make his Republican competition for president defend the competency of the government, in front of millions of conservative voters who dislike and distrust our government with a passion. Trump has put everyone on the same side as President Barack Obama. Let’s see them defend that position. I can’t wait to watch that debate.

Trump wins on every level:

1) Last spring I called Trump “Bullworth” – the fictional movie character played by Warren Beatty in the 1998 movie about a candidate who wins by a landslide saying whatever raw truth is on his mind. Whether people liked his opinions or not, they loved his refreshing honesty. That’s Trump.

2) He’s sucking up all the oxygen in the room. None of his opponents can get a word in. Only Trump is on everyone’s lips. Trump understands the old adage “all publicity is good publicity.” He’s running and winning without spending any money on advertising. Amazing.

3) Trump may be over the top … you may even find his views “extreme, offensive or distasteful” … but he’s the one looking out for America … he’s the one keeping your children safe at night. I believe that will stick in the subconscious of America’s parents. It’s easy to be “open-minded” and “progressive” when it’s not your children’s life at risk.

4) A huge majority of Americans distrusts their government. Trump just became their hero.

5) A huge majority of Americans disapprove of Obama’s handling of the war on terror. Do you think Americans would rather err on the side of Trump’s views being too harsh and offensive to Muslims … or Obama’s views being too accommodating and apologetic to Muslims? I’m betting a majority side with Trump- even if they have to whisper it in private (and in the privacy of the voting booth).

6) Finally for those who consider Trump’s recommendation to ban Muslims from entering the U.S. too harsh or even un-Constitutional, are you aware that Democratic President Jimmy Carter banned Iranians from entering America during another crisis in our history?

There was no media firestorm then. There were no shouts of outrage. No one called Carter a “fascist.” No one called his ban of citizens from a Muslim nation un-American or un-Constitutional.

Are you aware that Democratic President Franklin D. Roosevelt banned Japanese, German and “alien Italians” from the U.S. at the start of World War II?

I have a message for Donald Trump’s opponents: The latest national poll shows Trump up by 20 points.

Keep in mind he hasn’t spent any serious money yet. So I wish you good luck overcoming Trump’s 20-point lead. You’re going to need it!

Is Donald Trump the GOP’s savior or sellout?

Is it just me, or is there something wrong with this picture?

I so want to take Donald Trump’s word on making things right in America, on illegal immigration and on his criticisms of Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton. But the truth is she and her husband, former President Bill Clinton, had first-pew seats at The Donald’s third wedding in 2005 — and why not? It’s a match made in heaven — not for The Donald and his wife, Slovenian former model Melania Knauss-Trump, but between The Donald and Hillary. After all he is a New York billionaire who loves to build his wealth and influence in New York, and she was an ambitious New York senator who loved having rich donors in high places.

Let’s face it; The Donald and Hillary are members of the 1 percent club, otherwise known as the ultra-rich, the wealthy elite or America’s oligarchy. Their interests coincide much more closely with each other than with Americans like us. For all anyone knows, they may work for the same bosses: that Goliath known as the New World Order.

I want you to ask yourself one question: Who sat in the first row at your wedding?

My problem with Trump is there’s something phony with him regarding Hillary. Either he is not a loyal friend, or he is loyal to the end. And it’s not just hugging and smiling at social functions either. Trump has been a generous financial contributor to Hillary’s Senate campaign as well as to the Clinton Foundation. As recently as 2012,he told Fox News’ Greta Van Susteren:

Hillary Clinton, I think, is a terrific woman. I am biased because I have known her for years. I live in New York. She lives in New York. I really like her and her husband both a lot. I think she really works hard.

There you have it. He not only told Fox News that he liked Hillary, but in 2013 he also spoke glowingly of her as a presidential candidate for 2016. Trump said:

It would certainly seem Hillary’s going to get the nomination and she will be tougher to beat. Actually, she’ll be tougher to beat than president Obama in my opinion. So they need the perfect candidate.

Apparently, Trump believes he is the perfect candidate. But he is the perfect candidate for what: his presidency or Hillary’s?

I really want to give Trump the benefit of the doubt and believe that he has seen enough of America slipping into the gutter that he believes — and perhaps rightfully — that he can resurrect the American dream. The last president who, I think, legitimately did that was Ronald Reagan. And there is something else that is interesting about Reagan, he was close friends with the late Democratic Sen. Edward Kennedy, although the two couldn’t have been more different regarding how America needed to change. But seriously, before Reagan’s 1980 bid for the presidency, could you imagine that he would give money to elect Kennedy? I somehow doubt that, don’t you?

Watch out for the aliens!

I don’t have a problem with Trump on U.S. immigration policies and illegal aliens coming to the United States. It’s a serious problem, but it’s not just Mexicans. It is also Canadians, Swedes and other immigrants, including, I am sure, some Slovenians. But wrap them up all together, and illegal aliens are hardly the biggest threat to America. People like Hillary Clinton, her husband Bill and the federal government love to go on about everything except one inescapable fact: Those who have been constantly depleting the purchasing power of the dollar and have pursued such destructive spending as to leave us an inch away from a financial abyss are those in Washington who are propped up by rich financial backers.

The stock market collapse in China last week and another bailout for Greece so that it doesn’t drag the entire financial system down worry me much more for my children’s and grandchildren’s future. The more than $17 trillion in U.S. federal debt scares me a lot more than an illegal Mexican breaking into our home and killing my wife and me. And regardless of whatever anyone has to say about Trump, the fact is he is a brilliant investor. So on this I find it likely that what really keeps Trump awake at night is the state of the economy that his old friends like Bill and Hillary Clinton helped create.

And while Trump keeps saying that he is the only one telling the truth in this presidential race — and on this he is probably correct — he isn’t telling us the whole truth. Because the whole truth would involve talking about the state of affairs for not only the greenback but more urgently the two-legged stool that the U.S. financial markets stand upon. To do so would involve a self-fulfilling prophecy and that would put Trump’s financial interests at stake.

I don’t think Trump is a terrible candidate compared to the field he is running against, especially Hillary. But I don’t believe he is Reagan either. And to think he is Reagan without giving it some serious thought is wishful thinking.

The mainstream media won’t be happy until every Republican running for president has denounced Donald Trump for his remarks about illegal immigration and until every group with ties to a Trump business has fled from any association with him.

Sadly, a bunch of folks who should know better have stepped into the media’s trap. Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush foolishly declared:

I don’t assume that he thinks that every Mexican crossing the border is a rapist. I mean — so, he’s doing this to inflame and incite and draw attention, which is — seems to be his organizing principle of his campaign. And it doesn’t represent the Republican Party or its values.

Shame on you, Governor. You know full well that Trump never said “every Mexican crossing the border is a rapist.” For the record, let me repeat what Trump did say, when he announced he was running for the Republican nomination. Here are his exact words:

When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best. They’re not sending you. They’re not sending you. They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems with us. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people.

You know what’s wrong about that statement? Nothing! Every word is correct. And so far, Trump is the only candidate willing to say so.

It’s disgraceful that Bush would create such a dishonest straw man argument just to curry favor with the liberal media — the media that will delight in tearing him to pieces, by the way, should he actually get the Republican nomination for president and run against their current darling, Hillary Clinton.

Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), who is the son of immigrants from Cuba, also drank some of the liberal Kool-Aid. He said Trump’s remarks “were not just offensive and inaccurate, but also divisive.”

Even Rick Perry, the former governor of Texas, has jumped on the anti-Trump bandwagon. Perry said that Trump’s remarks were “offensive” and declared that “Hispanics in America and Hispanics in Texas, from the Alamo to Afghanistan, have been extraordinary people, citizens of our country.”

Correction, please, Governor. As Pat Buchanan pointed out in his syndicated column, most of the Hispanics at the Alamo weren’t fighting with Davy Crockett and his colleagues:

But most of the Hispanics at the Alamo were in the Mexican army of Santa Anna, not under Col. Travis, and hardly “extraordinary citizens of our country” as Texas did not even belong to the USA then.

I’ve liked a lot of what Perry has to say and what he achieved during his two terms as governor of Texas. But he made a bad misstep in joining the throngs attacking Trump.

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), who is father was an immigrant from Cuba, is the only candidate who had the nerve to defend Trump for his remarks. In an appearance on “Meet the Press,” Cruz said, “I salute Donald Trump for focusing on the need to address illegal immigration.”

Cruz said that Trump “has a colorful way of speaking.” And he added, “It’s not the way I speak. But I’m not going to engage in the media’s game of throwing rocks and attacking other Republicans.”

Good for him! The other candidates would be smart to follow his example.

Yes, it’s become open season on Donald Trump. The left is determined to attack his policies, harm his businesses, and, if possible, even keep him out of the coming debates.

But they can’t silence him. And they sure can’t intimidate him. The more they try, the more the public will realize that he’s the one telling the truth. And the left can’t stand that.

Conservative commentator Ann Coulter once again addressed illegal immigration on Sunday, proclaiming that she believes more Americans were likely killed at the end of the weekend “by Mexicans than by ISIS or by sharks.”

“Going into this weekend, the media was consumed with stories about, you know, ‘Americans have to be on the lookout for ISIS attacks’ and, ‘Terror attack expected’ — and, ‘Ooh, shark attacks!” Coulter said on “Fox & Friends.” “I will bet you by the end of the weekend, more Americans will have been killed by Mexicans than by ISIS or by sharks.”

She also specifically addressed the shooting death of Kathryn Steinle last week in San Francisco at the hands of an alleged illegal immigrant who had been deported five times, saying that she believes the story is getting more attention than many other crimes involving illegals.

“Usually it is completely buried,” Coulter said. “I would say this story is getting more coverage than immigrants killing Americans’ usually do, because this happened some place liberals might go.”
