Register Your Un-Registered "Assault" Weapons Or Become A Felon! The Terrible Choice For Connecticut Residents.

Many Connecticut Gun Owners Will Be Felons In A Few Days

Gun Owners in Connecticut who fail to disclose their “assault weapons” are about to become felons.
That’s right. Felons. Do not pass go. Go straight to jail.
Under a ridiculous law passed in the aftermath of the Sandy Hook tragedy, anyone in possession of a gun on the “ban list” must register the weapon with the state by Jan. 1. Also required to register are any magazines over ten rounds.
Gun banner Michael Lawlor, who works for the governor’s office made the state’s intentions clear: “You can either surrender the weapon to us, destroy the weapon or sell it to a federal firearms licensee,” he said. “After [Jan. 1], anything that hasn’t been declared or registered is banned and if you get caught, you’re going to get arrested.”

Gun rights advocates are fighting the measure, but will be an uphill battle in one of the most liberal states in the union.
“Assault weapons” are defined by the ignorant largely as rifles with cosmetic attachments meant to make them look “scary.”
Possessing a weapon after the Jan. 1 deadline can mean one year in prison under the state’s “mandatory minimum” guidelines. Possessing a “large capacity” clip will get you a ticket on the first offense, but becomes a felony by the second offense.
A list of the banned guns (and there are a lot of them) can be foundhere.

Could NSA Be Involved With Very Dirty Business? If So, This Agency Is Totally Out Of Control.

NSA Engaged In Financial Manipulation?

Picture 1
Buried within the recommendations to reform the National Security Agency by the White House Intelligence Review Task Force is something quite revealing.
Recommendation #31 reads, in part: “2) Governments should not use their offensive cyber capabilities to change the amounts held in financial accounts or otherwise manipulate the financial systems.”
This was discovered by tweeter Trevor Timm at the Electronic Frontier Foundation. His question: “Does this NSA report recommendation imply that NSA is conducting offensive cyber attacks against financial systems?”
While there have been plenty of reports about the US running hundreds of offensive cyberattacks on others, outside of things like Stuxnet, not many have been directly identified. And I’m unaware of any claims suggesting attempts to “manipulate the financial system” of any particular country and/or to “change the amounts held in financial accounts.” It seems a bit odd to come out of the blue like that, and certainly suggests that this particular bullet point likely came as a result of a rather specific thing that came up during the task force’s review.
So, now we wait for the inevitable news of what sort of financial shenanigans the NSA was up to.
The most important recommendation is removing NSA and the Cyver Command from military control and appoint separate civilian officials to command each agency. The Obama Administration has already indicated they’re unwilling to do that.

BREAKING NEWS UPDATE:
Score one victory for privacy rights.
A federal judge ruled Monday that the NSA’s program of collecting information on all telephone calls made within the US is unconstitutional.
District Court Judge Richard Leon ruled that the NSA’s actions violate the Fourth Amendment protection against unreasonable searches and seizures. He also ruled the Justice Department has failed to prove collecting “metadata” on telephone calls has helped to thwart terrorist attacks.

The ruling contains a preliminary injunction barring the NSA from collecting the metadata of the plaintiff in the case, Larry Klayman, but the judge stayed the case to allow for an appeal.
“I cannot imagine a more ‘indiscriminate’ and ‘arbitrary invasion’ than this systematic and high-tech collection and retention of personal data on virtually every single citizen for purposes of querying it and analyzing it without judicial approval,” wrote Leon, an appointee of President George W. Bush.
Leon’s 68-page ruling can be found here.

ObamaCrapCare Causes Loss Of Insurance For Another Group Of Employees

Another University Scales Back Insurance Because Of Obamacare

In a direct response to Obamacare, another university has slashed its health care offerings.
The University of Minnesota offers what the Affordable Care Act calls a “high value” plan – one that is subject to a hefty excise tax.
So to avoid paying the tax, the university is raising copays, premiums and deductibles – and will then not be considered a “high value plan”
The tactic might save the University $48 million in 2018 on “high-value” insurance plan like the one the university offers – or offered.
To compensate, the union that covers the school’s employees have negotiated a 3 percent pay increase that has yet to be approved by the state board of regents.
A “university email said the [employee] cost increases were necessary to help the University avoid a $48 million excise tax in 2018,” it reported. “[B]eginning that year [2018], the Affordable Care Act will put an excise tax on ‘high-value’ insurance plans to discourage consumers from overusing the benefits on these plans.
This is just one of a number of schools that have reduced or eliminated health insurance for employees and students.

According toMinnesota Daily:
Although cost increases aren’t ideal, faculty members generally accept the UPlan changes, said law professor Fred Morrison.
“I think there is an understanding among many faculty that they will be necessary,” he said. “But they are unfortunate.”
The annual open enrollment period, when UPlan members can adjust their health insurance plans, ended Monday, according to OHR.
Some union members likely took advantage of that time to find the most inexpensive insurance plan possible, said Cherrene Horazuk, president of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees chapter of University clerical workers.
She said people have told her they were looking at the lower-cost, smaller-network Accountable Care Organization plan, commonly known as an ACO, which the University is offering for the first time in 2014.
“I know that people were very concerned about the costs overall,” Horazuk said.

ObamaCrapCare Is Very Crappy For Smokers. They Get The Special Right To Pay Twice To Four Times The Cost Of Non Puffers

Smokers Slammed With Sky-High Premiums Under Obamacare

No_ObamaCare
One of the features touted by Obamacare was coverage for “pre-existing conditions.” But it turns out all pre-existing conditions are not the same.
Drug addicts, alcoholics and the obese – all of whom have higher medical costs are not penalized for their condition, but if you’re a smoker: watch out. Your premiums can skyrocket – up to thousands of dollars more than a similar non-smoker’s premium.
Both the American Cancer Society and the American Lung Association – staunch anti-smoking advocates – are against the so-called “tobacco penalty” because it is driving smokers out of the health insurance marketplace, leaving them uninsured and unable to pay for potentially expensive care.
The Lung Association’s Jennifer Singleterry told Fox News that rather than quit smoking, tobacco users will simply not purchase the pricey insurance.
down”Tobacco surcharges are not proven to help tobacco users quit and there are major concerns that they will prevent people from getting health care coverage,” she said. “Charging tobacco users more in health insurance premiums, sometimes thousands of dollars more, studies have shown, will price smokers out of the market,” says Singleterry.
Under Obamacare, smokers can be penalized up to 50 percent more than non-smokers for the same coverage, Fox News is reporting.
The nonpartisan Institute for Health Polict Solutions gave three scenarios for smokers looking for coverage under Obamacare:
1. The premium for a young, non-smoker earning roughly the minimum wage will cost $708. The same policy for a smoker would cost $3,308, or up to 400 percent more.
2. Before subsidies, a non-smoker who is 59 or older would also pay $708 for a “silver” or mid-level policy. However, a smoker of the same age would pay $5,908.
3. In a worst-case scenario, an older couple who smokes could be “literally impoverished” by ObamaCare premiums, said the report. That couple could pay an $11,352 health care premium, or one-half their annual income of $23,000. By comparison, a non-smoking person over 59 years old would pay 90 percent less, or just $952 after federal subsidies.
