As you might expect after the attempt at Marquette University to sabotage Daily WireEditor-in-Chief Ben Shapiro’s speech, plans to protest Shapiro’s upcoming YAF lecture at the University of California, Santa Barbara on February 21 have been in the works for months.
As YAF’s Amy Lutz reports, in November leftists were trying to figure out how to cause trouble. She adds:

During an ironically titled “Free Speech Dialogue,” faculty and staff discussed with students ways to “protest” the upcoming lecture . . . The Dean of Student Life, Katya Armistead, stated that she was “upset,” and that it “killed her” that she was “the one who ultimately has to make this event successful.” Other professors suggested creating a list of “sanctuary” faculty members who students could speak to if they were “distressed” over the Shapiro lecture.”
Other suggestions from staff members, according to Lutz: occupy the audience
and argue (interrupt) with Ben Shapiro during his speech. Lutz notes ironically,
“Audience members decided to create ‘UCSB Against Hate’ buttons to wear
to the event, calling them emblems of ‘inclusivity.’”
In case none of that dissuades a prospective audience from attending
Shapiro’s speech, the Cultural Resource Centers of UCSB will be hosting
a “Block Party” at the very time of Shapiro’s speech to celebrate “solidarity
 and cultural appreciation.”
The intellectual feast at the “Block Party” will reportedly include candlemaking,
bracelet making, and a poetry slam.
As The Daily Wire reported of UCSB last November:
In a meeting with the school’s Associated Students Senate,

members of the Black Students Union (BSU) at UCSB framed

Shapiro as racist, close-minded, and "inciteful," and suggesting

that he should not be allowed to speak on the topic of Black Lives

Matter because he is a “white man.” “As a white man, you don’t

have to worry about safe space. You don’t have to worry about it

affecting your physical being,” one student said, while another

blamed “whiteness” for inciting violence on campus.
The comments became so heated that at one point, student

senators had to stop a BSU protester for attempting to pick out

all the student senators who voted to allow Shapiro on campus

and calling them “snakes who like to hide under the banner of free speech.”
The UCSB College Republicans requested $5,000 in funding

from the Associated Students for the event. After their funding

was approved, the BSU organized “Senate BLACKout” protests.

Another Attempt To Stop Mentally Ill From Getting Guns Will Only Effect Average Americans

House Approves Measure To Increase Funding For Gun Background Checks

In response to last week’s mass shooting in Santa Barbra, Calif., House lawmakers approved a funding increase for the Nation’s background check system for firearms on Thursday.
An amendment to a 2015 appropriations bill provides an additional $19.5 million in grant funding for the FBI National Instant Background Check System (NICS). The background check system has been championed as a tool which keeps firearms out of the hands of criminals and the mentally ill in the U.S.
“Right now, all of the information isn’t getting in. When the information doesn’t get into the system, we can’t enforce the law, and dangerous people who otherwise wouldn’t pass a background check can slip through the cracks and buy guns,” the amendment’s sponsor, Representative Mike Thompson (D-Calif.) said.
Thompson said that the additional funds are intended to strengthen the background check system, particularly with regard to mental illness red flags.
Currently, States are encouraged to report information about illegal immigrants, domestic violence offenders and the severely mentally-ill to NICS, but not all do. The Thursday funding approval is aimed at incentivizing States to provide that information.
“Our states need more resources to get all their information into the NICS system. If we give them the resources, we can stop dangerous people from getting guns, and we can save lives,” Thompson said.
In 2007, problems with the NICS’s ability to keep track of people deemed a potential threat because of mental disturbance were revealed when 23-year-old Virginia Tech student Seung-Hui Cho killed 32 people on and near the campus of his college. Two years earlier, Cho had been declared mentally unstable by a Virginia judge; he was never flagged in the system.
The amendment, co-sponsored by Republican Representative Peter King (R-N.Y.), was able to muster modest GOP support.
Representative Frank Wolf (R-Va.), the chairman of the House Appropriations Commerce-Justice-Science subcommittee, said “Enforcing existing laws that keeps guns out of the hands of prohibited individuals is a goal we all share.”
The National Rifle Association took a “neutral stance” on the amendment, which will bring grant funding for NICS to $78 million for FY2015 if passed by the Senate and signed into law. That’s up from $59 million this year and just $18 million in FY2013.
Historically, the NRA has supported NICS funding.
“Look, NRA’s all for the Instant Check. We were there before anyone else was even talking about it,” Wayne LaPierre said back in 2011. “We need to fund it, we to make the sure the states turn over their records.”

Guns Are NOT The Problem, Sick and Isolated Individuals Are. Remember Ellliot Rodger Stabbed His First Three Victims!

Joe "The Plumber" Wurzelbacher has written an open letter to the families of the Santa Barbara victims murdered by rampage killer Elliot Rodger.

"I speak now only to the families of the gunshot victims in Santa Barbara," he wrote onBarbwire.com.

After offering his condolences on the tragedy, the gun rights advocate got right to the point.

"As harsh as this sounds — your dead kids don’t trump my Constitutional rights," he wrote.

"Richard Martinez, whose son (Christopher) was among the murdered, choked back tears at a news conference, blaming politicians the next day: 'The talk about gun rights. What about Chris' right to live?' Martinez said — and much more.

"There are no critical words for a grieving father. He can say whatever he wants and blame whoever he’d like — it’s okay by me. You can’t take a step in his shoes — at least I can’t."

But Wurzelbacher said blaming "the proliferation of guns," lobbyists, politicians etc. is a tactic of the left and that as a father, he also has the right to protect his family.

"We still have the Right to Bear Arms and I intend to continue to speak out for that right, and against those who would restrict it," he continued. "Even in the face of this horrible incident by this sad and insane individual. I almost said 'Obama Voter' but I’m waiting for it to be official."

Wurzelbacher became famous during the 2008 election for questioning President Barack Obama's tax plan.

In February he made headlines again after taking a union job at Chrysler.

"I’m outside on a break smoking a cigarette and right on cue — some guy calls me a 'teabagger,'" ABC News reported Wurzelbacher as saying. "I asked him if he recognizes the training we receive in the military, in the trades as legitimate but he didn’t seem interested in a serious discussion and just rushed off."

He also added that Democrats, "who are supposed [be] to so tolerant and enlightened regarding homosexuals," should be lambasted as hypocritical for using what he calls a gay "slur" to describe tea partiers.

Santa Barbara Killer Spoiled, Rich Kid Who Felt Unloved. Kills Himself Rather Than Face The Scorn!

Mass murder suspect Elliott Rodger
In the biblical account of the Garden of Eden, the ancient serpent – later described as “the devil, or Satan” – tempted the first humans by declaring if they defied their Creator, “Ye shall be as gods.”
Those haunting words were echoed in a video released by Elliot Rodger, the 22-year-old suspect in an Isla Vista, California, shooting that killed seven, including the shooter, May 23.
“I will be a god compared to you,” Rodger declares in the haunting video posted to YouTube only hours before the shooting. “You are animals, and I will slaughter you like animals. I’ll be a god, exacting my retribution.”

Rodger’s video is a chilling manifesto of loneliness, hatred and revenge, spurred on, he says, by college girls who repeatedly rejected his sexual advances. College, he says, is a time of “hedonistic pleasures” that these girls denied him, and thus, they deserve to die.
“I wanted sex, I wanted love, affection, adoration,” Rodger declares. “You think I’m unworthy. That’s a crime that can never be forgiven.”
“I’ll take great pleasure in slaughtering all of you,” he says. “You will finally see that I am in truth the superior one, the true alpha male.”
The Santa Barbara Sheriff’s Office has linked the shooting, described as “a pre-meditated mass murder,” to the video, titled “Elliot Rodger’s Retribution.”
The video clip “appears to be connected at this time,” stated Santa Barbara Sheriff Bill Brown, as quoted by The Los Angeles Times.
Fox News confirmed that several of the dead, as Rodger threatens in his video, were killed at a sorority house.
The video itself can be seen below (Editor’s note: The film may be disturbing and contains language that may be offensive to some):
The shooting took place after 9 p.m. on May 23 in the college town located near the University of Santa Barbara, California. Six were killed and seven others wounded before the gunman was also found dead of a gunshot wound with a semi-automatic handgun found in the suspect’s vehicle, the Santa Barbara Sheriff’s Office stated.
Though the authorities have not officially named Rodger as the suspect, lawyer Alan Shifman, attorney for Peter Rodger, an assistant director on “The Hunger Games” film series, says his client believes the shooter is his 22-year-old son, Elliot Rodger.
The biblical account of Satan describes an angel who in his pride longed to take the throne of God and was cast out of heaven for his rebellion. In revenge, he makes war against the people of God, seeking those he can “devour.” He strikes back at God by destroying and killing humanity, said to be made “in God’s image.”
Rodger’s words in the chilling video echo similar themes.
“Tomorrow is the day I will have revenge on humanity,” Rodger says. “I hate all of you. Humanity is a disgusting, wretched, depraved species. If I had it in my power, I would stop at nothing to reduce every single one of you to mountains of skulls and rivers of blood, and rightfully so. You deserve to be annihilated, and I will give that to you.”
