Dallas Mayor Pro Tem Dwaine Caraway (D) has pleaded guilty to federal corruption charges, according to documents filed in federal court earlier this morning. (Breitbart)

In a press conference, Cox announced Caraway, 66, was part of a scheme that bankrupted Dallas County Schools (DCS), a bus agency, along with businessman Bob Leonard, who owned the surveillance company that took millions from DCS. She said Leonard paid Caraway and Rick Sorrells, the former DCS superintendent, more than $3.5 million in bribes, kickbacks, and other benefits. In April, Sorrells pleaded guilty to accepting more than $3 million.

Caraway, the second most powerful official at Dallas City Hall, resigned from his seat on the city council Thursday effective immediately, said Cox. He pleaded guilty to criminal conspiracy, wire fraud, and tax evasion. She said each charge carries a sentence of five years in federal prison. For his cooperation, the legal parties agreed to 84 months imprisonment. Leonard was charged with one count of conspiracy.

WFAA reported that Caraway admitted to taking more than $450,000 in bribes, kickbacks, and other benefits in exchange for city council votes favoring Leonard’s camera company, Force Multiplier Solutions, which sought to work with DCS as part of a stop-arm-camera program, according to documents filed in Dallas federal court Thursday morning. Allegedly, the bribes and kickbacks began in 2011. Cox said Caraway failed to report the money for income tax purposes.

Caraway surrendered Thursday and was booked into jail. Cox said his sentencing is set for mid-December.

Also known for his uncompromising leftist stances, Caraway demanded the NRA cancel its upcoming 2018 convention in Dallas.

The disgraced politician now faces seven years in federal prison.

Looks like Rep. Maxine Waters is trying to backtrack on her endorsement of the harassment of Trump administration officials with the aid of a little emotion.

She appeared on MSNBC to talk about her comments and used “the children” as a distraction from the severity of her actions, The Daily Caller reported.

“I did not call for harm for anybody,” Waters said. “The president lied again.”

Her eyes appeared to water as she said, “But let’s not talk about that. Let’s focus on the children. That’s what this is all about. It is about the fact that children have been snatched away from their parents’ arms.”

Waters’ crocodile tears may work on the rest of the public, but let’s do a little fact check on those teary comments.

“If you see anybody from that Cabinet in a restaurant, in a department store, at a gasoline station, you get out and create a crowd. And you push back on them. Tell them they’re not welcome anymore, anywhere!” Waters said just last week.

Sadly, Waters’ call to action was not echoed by her fellow Democratic leaders. House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi actually rebuked Waters for her comments.

“In the crucial months ahead, we must strive to make America beautiful again,” Pelosi said in a tweet. “Trump’s daily lack of civility has provoked responses that are predictable but unacceptable. As we go forward, we must conduct elections in a way that achieves unity from sea to shining sea.”

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer also spoke against Waters, saying that her approach was “not American,” CNN reported.

“I strongly disagree with those who advocate harassing folks if they don’t agree with you,” Schumer said. “If you disagree with a politician, organize your fellow citizens to action and vote them out of office. But no one should call for the harassment of political opponents.”

When Waters was presented with the facts that her Democrat colleagues spoke against her, she got emotional again.

“They don’t really say I’m out of line. What they do is try to find a way (to) talk about civility without attacking me or anybody else as the leader of the Democratic Party, I expect that she would do everything that she could to make sure nobody believes that Democrats are out here harassing anybody or causing any violence,” Waters said of Pelosi.

Although Waters was not really crying, as some news outlets reported, she could have gotten a little teary-eyed in her attempt to emotionally manipulate the American public back to accept her again.

Well, it is clear that the left is up to its tricks again. And since the race card hasn’t been working too well, it looks like Waters is trying something new.

Thousands of liberals gathered today in an effort to virtue signal the

American public and whine about a reality they helped bring about. As

Townhall notes:

Thousands of protesters will gather in cities across the nation Monday

to protest President Donald Trump on Presidents Day.

“Donald Trump stands against the progress we have worked hard to

enact,” Facebook descriptions of the events read. “He does not

represent our interests. He was voted in by a minority of the American

public but governs as if there's no resistance. But there is — and on

February 20th, we will honor previous presidents by exercising our

constitutional right to assemble and peacefully protest everything

Donald Trump stands for.”

More than 47,000 people said they were interested in attending the

New York City event Monday, while tens of thousands of others said

they would be going to protests in Chicago, Los Angeles, Washington,

D.C., and Baltimore, among other cities.

Memo to liberals: Grow up. Donald Trump is your president. Elections

have consequences. If you lose, you respect the result and you go

about trying to figure out what went wrong. As the National Review's

Mark Antonio Wright noted back in November:

The duty of an American citizen is to respect the office of the president

of the United States, support the policies of the man holding that office

when he agrees with those policies, and fight those policies when he

doesn’t. He is the president, however, and that means he is rightly due

the appropriate level of republican deference becoming of his office.

An American citizen should always hope and pray that the president

uses his powers wisely and justly. And he should, of course, criticize a

president vocally when he fails in that duty.

So yeah, grow up.
