Barack Obama wants you to know he’s all over this Ebola thing.

He met this week with his senior health, homeland security and national security advisers to review U.S. Ebola policies, he said in an email to his massive database.

Bottom line: Nothing to worry about.

Even though Obama acknowledged that Ebola represents, in his mind, “a top national security priority,” he reiterated his long-held position that there are really no worries for Americans. Just leave this to the experts, he advised.

“It is important for Americans to know the facts,” he said. “Because of the measures that we’ve put in place, as well as our world-class health system and the nature of the Ebola virus itself – which is difficult to transmit – the chance of an Ebola outbreak in the United States is extremely low.”

Color me skeptical.

• People are dying in exponentially bigger numbers in West Africa.
• The disease has been allowed into the U.S.
• Ebola is spreading quickly in Europe.
• We continue to send Americans to West Africa and bring them back – including at least 4,000 U.S. military personnel for a vague, poorly defined mission of containment.
• The borders are wide open and will remain that way.
• There will be no restrictions on travel to the hot zone.

Knowing all this, why does America’s illustrious leader insist on downplaying the threat?

It’s easy to issue platitudes like, “The chance of an Ebola outbreak in the United States is extremely low.”

The chance that two airliners were going to crash into the World Trade Centers on Sept. 11, 2001, was also extremely low.

But it happened, and 3,000 Americans were killed.

If there is an Ebola outbreak in the U.S., many more than 3,000 are likely to be killed. So Obama’s odds-maker role doesn’t really give me a lot of confidence.

After all, he’s betting that “global warming” is going to cause catastrophic damage to the planet. He’s trying to reorder society and the economy because of this unsupported hunch. Pardon me if I don’t take Obama super-seriously as a bookmaker.

Where does he get his expertise on this matter? Is it from the same state-sponsored scientists who claim the world is coming to an end if we don’t cut down on carbon emissions? Is carbon dioxide really a greater threat to mankind than Ebola?

If he thinks travel to West Africa for Americans is safe, why doesn’t he go on a mercy mission himself to Liberia to demonstrate that fact to all of us? I hear they have some golf courses there.

Or, if he’s too busy to do that, maybe he’d like to personally greet the next airliner in-bound to the U.S. containing passengers from West Africa. Maybe he could send Michelle.

I don’t think so.

Obama will remain in his bubble while playing Russian roulette with the lives of ordinary Americans. That’s his nature. That’s his plan. And he’s sticking to it.

Is it possible that his advisers – medical, scientific, military and security – are all telling Obama exactly what he wants to hear? It wouldn’t be the first time. This guy is hardly known for reading his national security briefing book. He’s also a guy who loves to pass the buck of blame to those who prepare the briefings.

It’s not exactly like he’s got a crystal ball. Recall ISIS, the economy, Benghazi, the IRS scandal, Obamacare, the border. This guy has been wrong every time. That doesn’t exactly do much in the confidence-building department.

Pardon me if I don’t take his word or the word of his panel of experts on matters of life and death.
