Two years after her son, former Navy SEAL Glen Doherty, was murdered during a terrorist attack in Benghazi, Barbara Doherty is speaking out about how the Obama administration has “disappointed” her “tremendously.” She also revealed the call she got from the director of the FBI “well over a month” after her son’s death.
In an exclusive interview with Greta Van Susteren on Wednesday, Doherty confirmed that she has filed a lawsuit against the Obama administration over problems with her son’s life insurance policy. She claims that the fine print of the policy prevents any of the insurance money from being paid out to anyone other than a “heir,” or a child.

And the federal government has not been willing to help Doherty’s family in the matter, she said.
“Of course, he didn’t know that was within the contract,” she said.
“What do you think about your government on that?” Van Susteren asked.
“I don’t think much of them,” the mother replied.
“I don’t feel that our family or any other family should have to suffer this indignity, and that’s what it is,” Doherty continued. “They denied he bought insurance, now they’re saying the insurance because of this act won’t be paid, and so the pain you feel from losing your child is then brought forth again because now it’s disrespectful to treat a family – any family – that way.”

Even with the government’s evolving story on what really happened on the night of the Benghazi terror attacks, Doherty said she is most disappointed that her son’s wishes aren’t being honored.
“Glen always said, ‘You know, mom, if anything happens to me, you and Greg and Kate are going to be well taken care of.’ So, his wish is not being met. And I think they disappoint me tremendously that way,” she explained.
Doherty also recalled a phone call she received from then-FBI Director Robert Mueller, which didn’t come until “well over a month” after her son died.
Mueller apologized for not calling her soon, claiming that he was unable to find her “contact number.”
“And I said, ‘Do you mean my phone number?’” Doherty recalled. “He said, ‘Contact number. We couldn’t find the contact number.”
“I said, ‘You’re the FBI.’ … So, then I sort of was laughing to myself and I said, ‘You’re going to stick to that little story, aren’t you?’”
“Yes,” Mueller apparently responded.
Glen Doherty was one of four Americans who was killed when terrorists attacked a U.S. compound and CIA annex in Benghazi on Sept. 11, 2012. Also killed were U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens, State Department worker Sean Smith and former Navy SEAL Tyrone Woods. Several family members of the victims have been extremely critical of the Obama administration’s response.
