This Is How Smart Some New Yorkers Are!

Criminals Go Free But Go Outside And You Go To Jail!

COVID Irony: Release Prisoners, Jail Quarantine Violators

COVID Irony: Release Prisoners, Jail Quarantine Violators
(AmericanProsperity.com) – As the highly infectious COVID-19 spreads across the country, many jails have begun releasing inmates to deal with overcrowding and contain the spread of the virus. At the same time, some states have been threatening jail time against those who violate quarantine orders.
In Hawaii, Gov. David Ige is threatening jail time for anyone who disobeys his order to stay inside. The only exceptions are for obtaining health care or food, taking care of others, or exercising. In addition, Ige has also signed an order to quarantine all incoming residents and tourists for 14 days. Disobeying could result in a $5,000 fine or one year behind bars.
Other states currently threatening jail time for violating quarantine or isolation orders include Alaska, California, Michigan, Mississippi, and New Jersey. Charges are misdemeanors and, depending on the state, violators could face fines and jail time up to a year. Mississippi is the exception with a maximum punishment of up to five years in jail.
It’s clear they’re taking this pandemic seriously, and so should we.

Cuomo Shows He Has No Guts--Caves To White House Pressure!

New York governor buckles to Fed pressure on Ebola

title

Personal Liberty Poll

Exercise your right to vote.
Shame on New York Governor Andrew Cuomo. Last Friday, he appeared in a joint news conference with New Jersey Governor Chris Christie to announce that both states would impose a mandatory quarantine on health workers who returned to their states after treating Ebola patients in West Africa. But his defiance of Obama Administration policy didn’t last the weekend.
It’s no surprise that federal officials were outraged at the idea that a state would defy their leadership how to deal with the Ebola crisis. A senior administration official was quoted anonymously as saying, “We have let the governors of New York, New Jersey, and other states know that we have concerns with the unintended consequences” of policies “not grounded in science.”
That was all it took for Cuomo to back down. Two days later, he buckled under the pressure from the Obama Administration and said: OK, we won’t quarantine them. But they’ll have to remain in their homes for 21 days while being monitored for symptoms by state health officials.
The latest crisis began when Craig Spencer, a physician who had served in West Africa with Doctors without Borders, was diagnosed with Ebola after he returned to New York City. Before he showed any symptoms, Spencer went bowling and traveled around the city on the subway. We’re assured by health officials that victims aren’t contagious until they develop definite symptoms, such as fatigue or a high temperature. But it’s no wonder a heck of a lot of New Yorkers are concerned they might have been exposed to Ebola by some sort of contact with Spencer, without even knowing it.
Cuomo is a Democrat. Chris Christie, the governor of New Jersey, is a Republican. Both have been mentioned as possible contenders for their party’s nominations for President. Both are in the spotlight for how they handle the Ebola crisis. By buckling to pressure from the feds, Cuomo in particular is taking one heck of a risk. If another New Yorker develops Ebola because of exposure to Spencer, you can put “finished” to any furtherpolitical ambitions Cuomo might have.
In the meantime, Christie faced a bit of a hornet’s nest in New Jersey. Kaci Hickox, a nurse who treated Ebola victims in Sierra Leone, had been placed in 21-day quarantine and kept in a tent attached to a hospital. She had a toilet but no shower and said her conditions were “inhumane.” She toldCNN on Sunday that she retained a lawyer and might sue to win her release.
On Monday, Christie said the nurse, who has been symptom-free since her confinement, would be released and flown to Maine, “not via mass transit or commercial aircraft.” Now it’s your problem, Maine, the governor seems to be saying.
All of this confusion and controversy is happening for one very simple reason: The Feds’ bungled response to the Ebola crisis. The Wall Street Journal noted in an editorial yesterday:
The real problem is that the CDC, the World Health Organization, the Health and Human Services Department and the White House have all given ample reason not to trust their assurances. They said the chance of an Ebola case in the U.S. was remote. They said airport screeners would catch anyone sick trying to enter. They said U.S. hospitals were prepared for such cases, and that doctors and nurses would be protected. And they said self-quarantines would prevent new cases.
As we know, all these assurances were false.
The first and most important responsibility of government is to protect its citizens. So congratulations to any governor who is willing to defy the Obama Administration to do so.
Until next time, keep some powder dry

New York And New Jersey Do The Right Thing--Quarantine Those Who Come Back From Ebola Zone. How Long Will It Take Before They Cave Into The Administration?

Obama Admin. Pressing NY and NJ Governors to Reverse Controversial Ebola Quarantine Orders

The Obama administration is pressing the governors of New York and New Jersey to drop theirquarantine orders for medical personnel reentering the United States if they had contact with Ebola patients in West Africa, the New York Times reported, citing an administration official.

In fact, the Times said, top administration officials have been speaking daily with Andrew M. Cuomo of New York and have been in touch with Chris Christie of New Jersey regarding the matter. But on Sunday neither governor would budge from his stance, noting federal guidelines don’t go far enough, the Times reported.
A senior administration official told the Times the governors’ decision is “uncoordinated, very hurried” and “doesn’t comport with science.”
“The entire city was not informed, even the mayor’s office,” a New York City official involved in state’s Ebola response told the Times. “The mayor was caught unaware.”
“The big picture decision was made in the absence of any deep thinking about what implementing the policy would entail,” the official told the Times.
Meanwhile the quarantined nurse who criticized how she was treated after her plane landed in Newark, New Jersey, has retained a well-known civil rights lawyer, Norman Siegel, to challenge her quarantine order and get her out of isolation, the Times said.
“The policy infringes on Kaci Hickox’s constitutional liberty interests,” he noted in an interview on Sunday, the Times said. “The policy is overly broad as applied to Ms. Hickox and we are preparing to challenge it on her behalf.”
The Times noted the new federal policy regarding travelers returning from Ebola-hit areas are set to take effect Monday:
Under that new policy, any traveler retuning from Sierra Leone, Liberia and Guinea will be required to report their temperatures to their local health authorities. They will also be required to give health officials the names and addresses of their relatives and where they will be staying in the three weeks after they arrive, the approximate amount of time the disease takes to incubate.
Dr. Anthony Fauci, the director of the National Institute for Allergies and Infectious Disease, said it was vital not to do anything that might interfere with the flow of health workers to West Africa.
“The harm is that it is totally disruptive of their life. We want them to go because they are helping us to protect America to be over there,” Dr. Fauci said on CNN.

Why Has Nancy Snyderman Not Been Arrested For Potentially Spreading Ebola? Would It Be Government Does Not Want To Upset Media?

MORE PRINCETON NEWS

PRINCETON — Signs posted on kiosks in downtown Princeton encouraging residents to keep an eye out for NBC news chief medical correspondent Dr. Nancy Snyderman while she remains under an Ebola quarantine at her Princeton home disappeared overnight.
The fliers included Snyderman’s address and children’s names and were posted on community kiosks, which serve as a open forum for community announcements.
Snyderman has drawn criticism for violating a voluntary quarantine after returning from covering Ebola in Liberia. She has since apologized after the quarantine was made mandatory by the New Jersey Department of Health.
Princeton Administrator Bob Bruschi said Thursday that the town was made aware of the signs telling people to watch for Snyderman sightings, and would take no action to remove them, calling it a “a freedom of speech issue.”
When contacted on Friday, Bruschi said he was unaware they had disappeared.
Councilwoman Jo Butler said she was in town around 10 a.m. Friday at the corner of Witherspoon and Nassau streets and wanted to see the signs for herself, but realized they were gone.

“I went looking for them and didn’t see them,” Butler said. “It seems pretty hateful, and this isn’t a community that likes that sort of thing. Frankly I’m glad they’re gone.”
Dr. Thomas Frieden, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, told CNN earlier this week Snyderman, 62, did not put the public in danger by breaking a voluntary isolation agreement she made after exposed to Ebola.
“If she was not sick, she was not putting others at risk,” Frieden said on CNN's “Situation Room With Wolf Blitzer." She remains symptom-free; the virus can only spread when someone exhibits symptoms.
The signs included phone numbers for Princeton's police department and the New Jersey health department, which ordered the mandatory quarantine for Snyderman and her crew last week.
Snyderman offered an apology Monday night for violating the agreement she made with the CDC, state and local officials.
"As a health professional I know that we have no symptoms and pose no risk to the public, but I am deeply sorry for the concerns this episode caused," she said.
The mandatory quarantine is in effect until Oct. 22.
Ashoka Mukpo, a freelance cameraman with the NBC crew, was infected with the disease Oct. 1 and is recovering in Nebraska. He contracted Ebola when he was washing down a vehicle that had transported “bodies that perished from the disease,” Princeton Health Officer Jeffrey Grosser said Monday night.
Those exposed to the virus develop symptoms two days to three weeks after exposure, according to the CDC. It is transmitted through contact with blood and bodily fluids.
The Princeton police and health departments are handling the situation in Snyderman's neighborhood, Bruschi previously said.
"More important than the message the signs are giving is the fact that we have full cooperation and compliance with the quarantine," Bruschi said. "We have both the health department and our police department monitoring the matter and it is under control."

Rules For Handling Ebola. It's Time To Take Action Rather Than Waiting For A Disaster To Arrive.

It’s time to remove Obama from office — before he gets us all killed

Hello. I’m Wayne Allyn Root for Personal Liberty. Only a madman would gamble with our lives, our children’s lives and the entire American economy. Why would President Obama play Russian roulette with the future of our country? It’s a gamble no sane leader would take.
The life and death issue is Ebola. The president is more concerned with political correctness (and golf) than taking common-sense precautions to prevent a deadly pandemic. Why does this president not see his responsibility is to keep the odds as low as possible?
There are three simple, common-sense actions any president who cared about American citizens would take:
No. 1: Ban all flights from the Ebola zone and quarantine all travelers coming from any Ebola zone. This is an absolute no-brainer. Time is wasting. It should have been done months ago and may already be too late. Who knows how many people in America right now (or flying here tonight or tomorrow) are already infected?
No. 2: Secure and seal the border — now. Any day, any minute, illegal immigrants sick with Ebola could be walking across our border.
Worse, how easy is it for our radical Muslim enemies to send Ebola-infected terrorists across the border? How simple is it to infect and send hundreds of Ebola suicide terrorists into our hospitals and children’s schools?
All our radical Jihadist enemies have to do is inject tainted Ebola blood into volunteer suicide bombers or, worse, innocent children and send them across the border. Undetectable, they walk across our southern border showing no symptoms and surrender to U.S. border agents. Obama disperses them across the country where they sneeze or cough on their lawyers, caretakers and classmates. It’s that easy; it’s that simple to start a deadly Ebola pandemic across America.
Equally disturbing, what if Ebola spreads to Mexico, Central or South America? Suddenly panic ensues and hundreds of thousands of their citizens (or even millions) run for the U.S. border looking for America’s medical system to save them, spreading Ebola like wildfire… into your home and mine.
Our border is wide open to bring death and disaster, ending America as we know it. Yet President Obama is unwilling to do a thing to secure it. Nothing. Nada. Zip. Zilch.
The question is why?
No. 3: Return all U.S. troops from the Ebola zone. Obama’s decision to send troops to Africa is pure madness. No good can come from sending 4,000 U.S. troops into harm’s way of an invisible deadly germ.
Can you imagine the panic that will ensue if any of our troops contract Ebola? What if a ship becomes infected? Would it stay at sea while most die and until the survivors are deemed safe? Will returning planes be diverted to military bases where every soldier is a ticking time bomb that could infect friends, family, entire communities?
Mr. President, it’s time to tell the truth about Ebola. It is far easier to become infected than doctors or health experts are telling us. We are told becoming infected is an extremely remote possibility. Really? An NBC cameraman got Ebola without ever touching a sick patient or entering the room of an Ebola victim. A nurse in Dallas got Ebola while wearing heavy protective gear. More than 200 doctors and nurses in Africa are dead despite wearing protective gear, washing hands with bleach and knowing exactly what they were dealing with. Still, they are powerless to stop it.
My new book, “The Murder of the Middle Class,” focuses on economic murder. Ebola is the embodiment of this murder. An Ebola pandemic will kill thousands, if not hundreds of thousands, of Americans. But separate from the human tragedy, the economic cost will overwhelm and bankrupt our country.
The cost of treating just one Ebola patient is beyond comprehension: special ambulances, isolation chambers, hazmat suits, weeks or months in the hospital, quarantines for every person that came into contact with the Ebola victim, decontamination teams for their homes and even special handling of bodies for burial.
We’re talking about millions of dollars per Ebola patient. Multiply that times thousands, tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands, maybe even millions of victims. If Ebola gets loose in a crowded urban area, America’s economy will crumble.
Then there’s the death of tourism and commerce. Restaurants, hotels, airlines, shopping centers, movie theaters, sporting events, tourism and entertainment of all kinds will be shut down. Sports seasons will be canceled. Americans will be trapped in their homes, frightened to go outside. Commerce will grind to a halt. Jobs lost by the millions. The economic devastation will be unimaginable. America’s economy (already on the ropes) will be in ashes. The result could be total economic ruin.
Yet knowing all this, Obama does nothing. He refuses to secure the border. He sends our young military men and women into the death zone to face an invisible killer. He even purposely chooses to refuse to do something so simple and common sense as ban flights and quarantine travelers from the Ebola zone.
Our president is putting all of our lives, our families, our economic survival at risk. He is gambling with our children, our jobs, the future survival of America. Yet none of this has to happen.
Why take that gamble? Why risk economic suicide? Why not take all possible actions and precautions to limit the possibility of a widespread epidemic?
Is Obama criminally insane? A madman? An ignorant, delusional fool? Or is he doing this purposely to overwhelm America’s economic system? Does it matter?
By the way, as America’s first case of Ebola transmitted on U.S. soil was announced, where was Obama? Playing his 200th round of golfas president.
Any American who isn’t blind can see something is very wrong. It’s time for patriots and political and military leaders to speak up. Our president is clearly reckless, irresponsible, incompetent or evil. Regardless of the reason, for the sake of our families and for our physical and economic survival, it’s time to remove Obama from office.
Now… before it’s too late. Before he gets us all killed.
I’m Wayne Allyn Root for Personal Liberty. See you next week. God bless America.
