Should We Institute Tax On Internet Sales?

Is President Trump calling for an internet sales tax?
President Donald Trump appears to be pushing for an internet sales tax for the second time in as many months, CNBC reported. And his comments seem to be directly aimed at Amazon.
“The internet — they’re going to have to start paying sales tax because it’s very unfair what’s happening to our retailers all over the country that are put out of business,” Trump said Wednesday. He made the comment to media and members of the administration during the signing of the Interdict Act, which seeks to reduce drug smuggling, CNBC reported.
Trump also repeated his concern that Amazon is putting a strain on the U.S. Postal Service.
In December, Trump tweeted that the U.S. Postal Service is losing billions while making Amazon richer.

Could this really happen?

One analyst called Trump’s comments nothing but hot air.
“There’s always been a fear for players like an Amazon or a Google that something like this could actually get through,” Daniel Ives, head of technology research at GBH Insights, told CNBC. “We believe it’s more noise than a real threat.”
Ives said the discussion is notable, but he believes an internet tax is unlikely to ever come to pass.
Others speculate that Trump is angry at Amazon president and CEO Jeff Bezos because his newspaper, The Washington Post, publishes articles that are critical of the president.

Are states losing sales tax revenue?

The issue includes questions about why third-party vendors can pay varying levels of sales tax, CNBC reported. Some state leaders say that is not fair.
The state of South Carolina, for example, filed a lawsuit that alleges Amazon was responsible for “$12 million in uncollected taxes, interests, and penalties for the first three months of 2016,” CNBC News reported. Amazon has denied the claim, and called the lawsuit “without merit.”
Amazon is also cutting into overall retail sales. Amazon made about 44 percent of all U.S. e-commerce sales last year. That’s about four percent of the nation’s total retail sales.  And, Amazon had its biggest holiday shopping season in 2017.

Christopher Steele May Be In Big Trouble

Multiple Senators formally request criminal investigation into fake Trump dossier author

January 6, 2018
Multiple Senators formally request criminal investigation into fake Trump dossier authorJStone / Shutterstock.com
Two Republican lawmakers asked the Department of Justice to open a criminal investigation into the author of the salacious and largely discredited anti-Donald Trump “Russian dossier.”
Sens. Chuck Grassley of Iowa and Lindsey Graham of South Carolina sent a joint letter to Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and FBI Director Christopher Wray. They asked that they investigate former British intelligence officer Christopher Steele on possible criminal charges.
Steele was hired by the opposition research firm Fusion GPS to prepare the dossier. Fusion GPS was in turn hired jointly by the Democratic National Committee and the Hillary Clinton presidential campaign.
Adding gravitas to the request, neither Grassley nor Graham are considered hard-core conservative Republicans.

An obligation to act

Steele’s testimony to federal authorities prompted the senators to forward their request to the Justice Department, under the belief that the former MI6 agent lied.
Grassley said in a statement:
I don’t take lightly making a referral for criminal investigation. But, as I would with any credible evidence of a crime unearthed in the course of our investigations, I feel obliged to pass that information along to the Justice Department for appropriate review.
Everyone needs to follow the law and be truthful in their interactions with the FBI . If the same actions have different outcomes, and those differences seem to correspond to partisan political interests, then the public will naturally suspect that law enforcement decisions are not on the up-and-up.
Graham added that “after reviewing how Mr. Steele conducted himself in distributing information contained in the dossier and how many stop signs the DOJ ignored in its use of the dossier, I believe that a special counsel needs to review this matter.”
Both Grassley and Graham are members of the Senate Judiciary Committee, which tweeted:

Letter blasted by top Dem

Sen. Dianne Feinstein of California, the ranking Democratic member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, claimed that the letter was a last-ditch effort by the GOP to turn the committee’s focus away from the president. She said:
I think this referral is unfortunate as it’s clearly another effort to deflect attention from what should be the committee’s top priority: determining whether there was collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia to influence the election and whether there was subsequent obstruction of justice.
Feinstein added that neither she nor any other Democratic committee members were consulted before the letter was released.

Whether notified or not, Grassley’s office observed that it’s standard for the committee to notify the Justice Department when it “comes across what appears to be credible evidence of a criminal violation that warrants further investigation by appropriate authorities based on information from any source, public or non-public.”
Conservative talk show host Mark Levin opened his show discussing the move.

Sheikh Omar Abdel Rahman, known as “The Blind Sheikh“,  died on Saturday in a Federal prison in South Carolina while serving a life sentence for masterminding the 1993 World Trade Center bombing.

The WTC car-bombing attack left six dead and approximately 1,000 injured. Abdel-Rahman was arrested on June 24, 1993, along with nine of his followers. On October 1, 1995, he was convicted of seditious conspiracy, and in 1996 was sentenced to life in solitary confinement without parole. He was 78 years old when he passed away.
He was also accused of planning to blow up the Holland and Lincoln tunnels in New York. He was the spiritual leader of Al-Gama Al-Islamiyya, an Egyptian Sunni Islamist movement considered a terrorist organization by the United States.
His death is a timely note concerning the ongoing debate over President Trump’s travel ban. In 1990, Abdel Rahman was issued a tourist visa to visit the United States by the consul of the United States Embassy in Khartoum, Sudan, despite his name being listed on a U.S. State Department terrorist watch list. He was issued a green card in 1991, despite his tourist visa being revoked several months earlier. His green card was revoked in 1992, but he was later granted political asylum, despite giving rabidly anti-American sermons at several mosques.

The Left's Acceptance Of Someone Who Thinks Differently--Wrong

Black senator kills the left’s ‘tolerance’ myth

Posted on February 9, 2017 by Sam Rolleysen. tim scott
South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott, the Senate’s only black Republican, blasted the foolishness of the nation’s race-baiting leftists by reading his hate mail ahead of Jeff Sessions’ confirmation as attorney general.
Scott, a Sessions supporter, said the focus on race during the new attorney general’s confirmation hearings reminded him of how his own character is often called into question by the left.
“Too often, too many … on the right are found guilty until proven innocent on issues of race,” Scott told lawmakers late Wednesday.
The senator added that he had become accustomed to the ill-informed attacks from race baiting leftists.
“As I If you sign up to be a black conservative, the chances are very high you will be attacked,” he said.
Scott added: “My friends and my staff are not used to the level of animus that comes in from the liberal left, who suggest that I somehow am not helpful to the cause of liberal America and, therefore, I am not helpful to black America.”
The lawmaker went on to read a series of hateful comments hurled at him by leftists via Twitter.
“You are a disgrace to the black race,” one user told Scott.
Another said: “Tim Scott is an Uncle Tom … a white man in a black body.”
Another tweet said that Scott’s chief of staff, one of only two African Americans to hold the position in the Senate (both work for Republicans), isn’t “black enough.”
The lawmaker told his colleague that there were several more abusive tweets, but he left out “all the ones that use the N-word.”
Scott noted that leftist tolerance simply doesn’t extend to ideas.
“You see, what I’m surprised by, just a smidgen, is that the liberal left that speaks and desires for all of us to be tolerant do not want to be tolerant of anyone that disagrees with where they are coming from,” he said. “So the definition of tolerance isn’t that all Americans experience a high level of tolerance; it’s that all Americans who agree with them experience this so-called tolerance.”

Governor Haley Is Going To The UN

Trump Appoints Friend of Israel as Ambassador to Anti-Zionist United Nations

By Abra Forman November 23, 2016 , 4:05 pm

“Then thou shalt see and be radiant, and thy heart shall throb and be enlarged; because the abundance of the sea shall be turned unto thee, the wealth of the nations shall come unto thee.” Isaiah 60:5 (The Israel Bible™)
South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley (R). (Flikr/Gage Skidmore)
South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley (R). (Flikr/Gage Skidmore)
President-elect Donald Trump has offered South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley the position of U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, and she has accepted, NBS reported on Wednesday.
It is a position of high importance to Israel, which faces opposition and condemnation at the UN at levels unknown to any other country. Israel has relied heavily on US support to veto resolutions unfavorable to the Jewish State or promote movements which strengthen its position.
Luckily for Israel, Haley has a record which seems likely to translate to a pro-Israel stance at the UN. Haley, a Republican, made history in 2015 by becoming the first governor to pass state legislationagainst the anti-Israel Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement.
The bill prevents public entities from working with any company engaging in the “boycott of a person or an entity based in or doing business with a jurisdiction with whom South Carolina can enjoy open trade”. The law defines a boycott as efforts to “blacklist, divest from or otherwise refuse to deal with a person or firm when the action is based on race, color, religion, gender or national origin of the targeted person or entity.”
NO to BDS and YES to Israel!
BDS certainly falls into that category. While the movement’s stated goal is to cripple Israel economically, its true aim is the total delegitimization of the Jewish state.
South Carolina’s anti-BDS legislation was quickly followed by Illinois, New York, Florida, California, Alabama and several others. As of today, 16 US states have either condemned BDS or passed bills fighting it.
In addition, Haley also spoke out against the Iran deal, which Israel strongly opposed, while responding to President Barack Obama’s final State of the Union address in January of 2016.
If Republicans held the White House, she said in her speech, “We would make international agreements that were celebrated in Israel and protested in Iran, not the other way around.”

Shootings Where The Shooter Is Taken Down By A Legal Gun Owner--Are Never Reported

Here’s a shooting you didn’t hear about

Posted on June 30, 2016 by Personal Liberty News Desk10860151_G
If not for the actions of an armed bystander, things could have ended far more tragically when a South Carolina man opened fire on a crowd outside a busy nightclub Sunday.
Via a report from the WISTV in Lyman, S.C.:
The shooting happened around 3:30 a.m. at Playoffz nightclub on Inman Road in Lyman.
Deputies said 32-year-old Jody Ray Thompson pulled out a gun after getting into an argument with another man and fired several rounds toward a crowd that had gathered out in front of the club.
“His rounds struck 3 victims, and almost struck a fourth victim, who in self-defense, pulled his own weapon and fired, striking Thompson in the leg,” Lt. Kevin Bobo said.
Bobo said the man who shot Thompson has a valid concealed weapons permit, cooperated with investigators, and won’t be facing any charges.
“Thompson was still on the scene when deputies arrived, but the initial scene was chaotic,” Bobo said. “It wasn’t until victims and witnesses were interviewed, and video from the scene was reviewed that Thompson was identified as the suspect.”
Thompson was charged four counts of attempted murder, possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, and unlawful carrying of a weapon.
Because Thompson’s attack ended before he had the opportunity to take lives, his crime won’t go down as a mass shooting statistic. The FBI defines a mass shooting as any event where a gunman takes the lives of for or more people using a firearm.
Following the tragic shooting in Orlando earlier this month, the South Carolina incident provides a prime example of how future mass shooting incidents could be stopped by putting an end to gun free zones.

Clinton’s Campaigns’ Crafty Cunning to Portray The Perfect Hillary Regardless of Facts

Is there anything real about Hillary Clinton? While Trump wears who-he-is on his sleeve and has granted numerous interviews and fielded hundreds of questions from the press, Team Hillary goes to painstaking lengths to craftily control the image they want portrayed of the candidate regardless of what the truth is.
According to The Blaze:
But emails obtained by The Associated Press reveal a careful, behind-the-scenes effort to review introductory remarks for college presidents and students presenting the Democratic front-runner as a speaker, as well as suggesting questions that happened to be aligned with her campaign platform.
While it’s not unusual for campaigns to plan detailed appearances, the exchanges preview the kind of image-control apparatus that could be deployed in a Clinton White House, including attempts to steer conversations with her audiences. They also run counter to her campaign’s efforts to make Clinton look less wooden and scripted than she did when running eight years ago.
The former secretary of state’s preparedness appears in contrast with the presumptive Republican nominee, Donald Trump, who rarely pulls punches in his speeches, speaks more spontaneously and has far more apparently unplanned, unscripted interactions.
Clinton spokesman Nick Merrill said, “We take pride in Secretary Clinton’s ability to answer tough questions. We do not screen questioners at events, nor do we script interactions.” He said Clinton has answered about 900 questions in formal events on the campaign, and that more-memorable moments came from the fact her events were “completely unscripted.”
The newly revealed exchanges, which surfaced in open-records requests, show the workings of a Clinton campaign that touts off-the-cuff moments, like the story of a little girl who asked Clinton: “If you’re elected the girl president, will you be paid the same as the boy president?” That line is a stump speech favorite.
But the campaign still injects itself into the minute details of the candidate’s appearances down to the stemless glassware in her green room. That fixation on planning has sometimes pulled local officials uncomfortably into the political arena.
“They offered to write your introduction. I told them no,” Becky Mann, the head of public relations for South Carolina’s Greenville Technical College, wrote in an email to the college’s president, Keith Miller.
Clinton’s campaign also suggested questions that Miller could pose such as, “We have a number of students who have a financial need — what do we need to do to make college affordable?” College affordability is one of Clinton’s campaign issues.
But Miller dismissed the suggestions, calling them “bad questions” and said he would develop his own. “Probably after hearing her speech,” he wrote.
In South Carolina, state director Clay Middleton asked another college to “provide a list of 2 or 3 students that would be fitting to introduce the Secretary.”
Des Moines Area Community College’s president, Robert Denson, incorporated talking points sent by Clinton’s campaign into his August 2015 opening remarks ahead of her appearance. In an interview, Denson said the college was visited by several candidates including Clinton and Trump, and handled each campaign the same: reaching out for specific remarks ahead of time to incorporate into his usual introduction, which notes the school is nonpartisan and doesn’t favor any candidate.
It’s interesting that everything from talking points, to control of the person doing the introductions, and what they say, is so controlled.
When someone is working so hard to hide something, the question really should be; ‘what are you trying to hide?’ Hillary is unoriginal, corrupt and downright disingenuous. It’s no wonder they are going to such efforts to co
